The guy is 92, had a reported net worth of £2.498 billion and has more money than he could ever spend anyhow.

Greed like that is insane! Money that never gets spent or donated to charity is just figures on pieces of paper.

Argus!

He will end up the richest dead person in the cemetery. Which is vastly less impressive than the status of "most loved and revered philanthropist in the cemetery".

Well done the HMRC, I suspect there’s plenty more like him out there.

Just goes to show the madness of Cameron and Osborne when they cut the HMRC budget as part of the austerity programme back in the early 2010’s, they should have increased the number of tax inspectors, introduced some performance related pay and gone after the tax evaders. It would have paid for itself.

Brown’s selling off of the gold was nowhere near as expensive has Sunak’s Covid loan debacle, I suspect the procurement process for the pandemic also cost us more than the gold sale.

Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but with a few exceptions prisons should be reserved for violent, dangerous or repeat offenders.

Far better to hit people like Ecclestone where it hurts much more. The pocket. Plus maybe ban him from leaving the country for ten years, if he lives that long.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

And all 3 things have cost this country a stinking fortune and it's us working class tax payers who suffer because of it.
It's us who has our public services reduced or withdrawn, who has to go without dotors and dentists, it's our kids who get poorer educations.

Politicians of all colours have looked after the rich and left the rest of us behind.

Ecclestone should have had to ay that and still gone to prison. The story said he avoided prison partly because he didn't already have any convictions and that is directly because when he was up in court in Germany he "settled" for 60 million on a bribery charge, ironic eh, he was accused of bribery so he literally bribed the court to not find him guilty.
