I'm self isolating. I'm 75 years old with advanced prostate cancer. Only time I go out is hospital appointments, which are quite frequent because I've volunteered for a new trial, and trips to the chemist for my prescription. Ordering shopping on line. Though I might be venturing out for the odd walk, it's people I have to avoid not places.
For the record this is the longest Saturday I've spent in my life, and it's only just 3 o'clock. |  | | |

Spain's now in lockdown, so everyone is self isolating, sort of.
Went into the local supermarket yesterday, it was bombed out but the only empty shelves were fresh veg and toilet paper, so it appears people intend to stuff themselves on vege meals, then sh1t themselves silly. |  | | |

Girl in work was on her way to Spain this morning, she was sitting on the plane and ready to go when they were hit with a 2 hour delay. After thinking about it and speaking to some chums who were already there she got off the plane and went home. Don’t blame her.
We are currently away, the hotel we are staying is quite quiet and staff here are very concerned about the virus and their jobs. We’ve seen people stocking up with bottled water and toilet roll. There are some difficult times ahead. [Post edited 14 Mar 2020 16:31]

She did the right thing, apparently there were several Jet2 planes in the air half way to Spain from the UK and they all turned round and went back.
Almost all bars, restaurants, cinemas, etc are shut, right across the country. Even the Costa beaches are shut to disuade Madrileños from heading to the coast and spreading the virus. I'm sitting it out on the terrace with a large G&T. At least the sun's shining. | | | |

Amazed by the kind reaction and offers of help received on here to my post on this thread that I made on Saturday. It reiterates the fact we really are a family club by action not only word. It touched me, I must be honest.
I think I'm okay though, did my first ever food order on line, though they can't deliver until Thursday, and we have young neighbours and family members who have volunteered help to do the odd thing, pick up prescriptions, odd thing we've run out of etc. Plenty of food in and the wife cooking lots.
This is really getting to my missus, I'm the one with low immunity and she's got to stay in too, and she loves to be on the go, but as the doc says "if you get it, chances are he gets it"
My old man once told me "never volunteer for anything" but this is the second clinical trial I've volunteered for and I feel good about it. | | | |

There is nothing stopping people going out, it is mingling with other people that is the problem.
So a drive to an isolated beauty spot to break up the monotony etc should still be on the cards. | | | |
