This. Probably the club have decided that he's not got what it takes at this level so let him move for a professional contract elsewhere rather than stringing it out. Still got time to develop and rise up the leagues in the future.

Agreed. From what I've seen of him he has bags of natural ability, vision and a big heart. Honestly thought he was a shoo-in to our fluid midfield this year.

It's a tricky call to make. The last time we were in a position to give young players a game largely free from pressure would have been the end of Garry Monk's first season in charge (naturally he didn't). Since then we've invariably been fighting at one end of a table or another, and it'll take a brave manager to throw youth in then. Jack's got talent, but probably not enough at present to chance it. Good luck to him. A year or two playing elsewhere and there's no reason why he can't be back in the Championship soon. One of the things that's largely gone unnoticed however is that a lot of our discarded youth players are landing up at league clubs, and often doing quite well. Gone are the days when most released youth ended up in the LOW. The general quality of players the club has produced over the last ten years is significantly higher than in decades past.

Money being saved for what ? on 21:21 - Jan 8 with 1447 views | Thornburyswan | Not sure this is a money play Keith - both MGW & Palmer would pulled back by their clubs (we had no say), John was a mile away from the first team squad & available all last window and we were clearly happy to let Evans go out on loan. Accept it has a money impact although not sure it’s big money.

That's what gripes , because some posters denigrates the Academy for not producing the next Ronaldo then its all been a waste. The Club can be proud in a lot of ways of giving local and not so local lads an opportunity to forge a career in football and with it an opportunity to stay within the sport in other capacities . My grandson was released a few years back but is now playing at a more than a decent level .

By "some posters" I assume you largely mean Kilks, who can't pass by a thread about youth development without having the urge to demonstrate how little he understands about the subject.

Got to be around 20k a week. Maybe a bit more, I’m surprised Gyökeres is still with us, he surely will get a game tomorrow. I could have worded my op better 👠

Money being saved for what ? on 13:50 - Jan 9 with 983 views | Chief | I don't like letting go youngsters, but in fairness has he done anything to suggest that he could contribute at this level for us? And also our record of letting go of youngsters is very good over recent years, very few have actually got to a level where they could challenge for a spot in our team (Rhys Norrington Davies maybe, possibly Gwion Edwards?). Its probably the case that Evans shouldn't have been given his last contract, but the club did right by him due to his illness.

A full season of 30 plus games in Cyprus would certainly helped his case. Generally with loans the cream comes to the top. Connor Roberts was player of the year at Yoevil I think and Brandon Cooper has fought himself into the first team picture at Newport in a way that Tyler Reid could not. Connor however did not get many games and Boro and James struggled to play at Shrewsbury. Rodon played 10 or so games at Cheltenam. Cabango did himself no harm ging to lowly TNS but played in the Champions League. I think the like of Cullen and Garrick should also benefit from extended run in no higher than L2 to ensure game time. Its make or break for both and the club should get them playing every week. Yoevil, Torquay Wrexham . They cannot spend anymore time on the bench. Ryan Hedges is probaly one that got away. He looks like a player who could be on the fringes of the Swansea first team. Doing pretty well in Aberdeen. Gradually improving his stats year on year. Scoring 1 in 3 as a winger in 24 games this season. He has a swagger about him and still only 25. Look at you mentioning me, you big handbag. No chance of silencing me on this one, thats what a message board is about after all. Jack Evans should not have been released in my opinion. Thats the first point. Be careful when agreeing with Boundy mind. He is stuck in 1973. Let me be clear, we are a business. We can’t spend our money developing players for other clubs and be happy about it. Its a waste of our money. The academy has to be judged on its reason for being - producing players for the first team at Swansea City. Simple. Ideally the Rodon and Roberts career path. You can add Joey Allen, Ben, and Jazz. Anything else is not good enough from the Academy. Never get it right, of course, but Sheehan and Jack should have been kept. Thank God the happy clappers like you are not running our club. Easily pleased and deluded. [Post edited 10 Jan 2021 9:15]

Jasper is probably the only informed poster. I fully accept that. Be interested in his view on Jack (back to topic). We can however all have a view on what we should expect in return for the huge investment our club has made in the Academy. Your own confidence in your own position is heart warming, of course, but clearly no real recommendation in terms of the facts or indeed judgement...... 🤡
