Pir on 10:47 - Feb 1 with 1319 views | Chief | Although it's poor business to let the transfer get that far without knowing if there's cash for it, if the club didn't want to pay it fair enough. The O'Reilly revelations in the article are the most worrying though if true. 300k upfront! Now it's all over can we have some more information in that comments about Silverstein securing funding please? Seems evident that if he did it wasn't used and the only money spent was used from the Rodon sale.

Who has put us in this position in the first place? What forward thinking, ambitious footballer would want to join a struggling Championship side in obvious decline? ( unless you're playing for a struggling League 1 club)Who would want to take a punt on Fulton and Dhanda when they have not played this season ( underlined on Saturday) Good photo - walking around with his hands in his pockets whilst things fall apart. Over to you the RM fan club.

I was baffled by the euphoria at the start if the season by Martins appointment given his "pedigree" and then the stuff of the "emperors new clothes" relating to the so called better football which was not yiedling any results, attaking chances or goals. I hope this manager learns and now realises it about "managing" the resources he now has ...play to the strenghts of those he has to get results...doesnt mean we canot play attacking attractive football but didtch the keep the ball at all costs he is drilling in to people. As others have said what aspirong players would want to join a "struggling" club..one rarely wins. I do feel sorry for him though as he has been clearly stitched up in this window

So it looks as if the ones who are not happy are relatively young fans who saw us in the Prem. Warlocks Us older ones have seen the pit or despair and never want it back Our owners are doing their best to nullify all our progress

We have hundreds of midfielders. Why bring in longman or O Riley when we already have Grimes, Downes, Fulton, Ntcham, Wolf, Paterson etc. plus Dhanda at a push and other players who could slot in there (naughton did ok there under Potter) For me left wing back was the number 1 priority for this window and maybe a centre back which is what we’ve got. Time will tell whether they are any good. Anything else is just a luxury we can’t afford. Our squad isn’t bad, it isn’t weak. We simply need to cut our the mistakes. We generally play well but we have missed so many good chances and keep having brain farts at the back. Martin has been backed from the start as was Cooper. This narrative that he hasn’t been is nonsense.

Pir on 12:04 - Feb 1 with 1054 views | A_Fans_Dad | If money was that tight then Martin and the scouts should have been told at the start of the window. To set up searches, find players who want to come here, get in to talks, come to agreements and then have it all fall through due to lack of support from above is disgarceful. It reflects badly on the professionalism of the club. [Post edited 1 Feb 2022 12:05]

Like I have already said, Martin needs to start managing the squad he has better and stop trying to force something we don't have the players for. We have a squad good enough, in my opinion. We have players who are comfortable on the ball. We have a good striker in Piroe. We have some quality in midfield. I have suggested Cooper wanted out because he wasn't backed as much as he felt he was promised. Maybe Martin is feeling that way now? Though he has been backed more than Cooper. Honestly, I genuinely believe Cooper would do something with this squad, if Martin can't (because he wont change his 'style') then his career isn't going any further (again that's my opinion) because he outs himself as a one trick pony who cannot even perform that trick very well. Russell Martin needs to rethink, to change his ways. He needs to manage the squad he has not the squad he wants. If he cannot do that then he's a failure. Whatever we may say about it, whether we are seen as overly negative or positive, happy clappers or moaning minnies, none of us wants our team to fail.

We have a decent enough backline if they are played correctly in their right positions We dont need to play risky rubbish right in front of our keeper. Ntcham is class and need to get more involved Downes should be captain That would help

Pir on 12:44 - Feb 1 with 914 views | max936 | Nobody can chuck stones in Martin’s direction for this debacle, yet another farcical January window, after all the sound bites. Some happened to Cooper last January, it’s laughable. Silverstein must have come over for a change of scenery, because it’s more than obvious that he didn’t come over to overlook the transfer window, he came over to check the books and that’s all.

Yep not Martin’s fault at all, it’s the club who are letting themselves down in January transfer windows season after season. But also tend to agree with the above regarding midfielders, we have a shed load as it is. But we should have got some better options in other positions.

A Catullus post I agree with, that’s a rarity. Good post can’t fault it. I go into today’s game in a positive mindset hoping we see something a bit different now we have a few extra options. Starting with the keeper of course, this is Martin’s man - he has to play him.

I hope lm wrong, but we really don’t need this game tonight, l fear for us tonight against a battling in your face side like Luton, l can’t see the mood in the Swans camp being a happy one.

My ideal starting 11 for tonight Fisher Cabango Naughton Lati Christie Manning Downes Grimes Ntcham Wolf Piroe Play nice triangles with Ntcham, Chrisite and Downes down the right Manning WOlf and Downes down the left sometimes alternation gwith Grimes cominfg forwars through the middle ...

My sentiments as well. Luton will be a tough nut to crack and we seem fragile, just hope we don't concede early.

Why not a 3-2-3-2 then, or 4-2-3-1? it's a bit old school but start with the defence. Stop conceding silly goals, and some we have conceded have been spectacularly silly. Then pick players in their best positions. We could have Smith and Grimes at CDM but we'd need Pato back to have him Ntcham and Downes further forward. If 2 up front we have the 3 to choose from so why not try them in different pairings to see what works better. As it goes the hours of my job mean I probably won't go to many midweek games now, unless I've booked the shift off so tonight I wont be there but (and I keep saying it) whatever Martin and the owners say or do, the fans don't have limitless patience and if they are not careful the crowd will turn again.

I agree Cat we need to stop conceding silly goals, maybe stop playing about with the ball in our defensive third. My sugeestion of the line up is as I see it form "Martins" view too but for me I would have Cabango in the middle of a 3 with Naughton on the right and LAti on the left (until the new LWB is setled in then Id switch Manning back there) Christie and Manning as wingbacks with Downes sitting but acting like a Leon moving where the ball is making himself availbale to reecive it beofre redistrbuting. Grimes doin whatever it is Grimes does, WOlf and Ntcham in the advanced midfield roles and then Piroe up top ,aybe a 5 3 2 too with the back 5 as is but dropping Grimes leaving a midfield of DOwnes WOlf and NAtcham with Piroe and Obafemi up top Like you due to work I find it hard to make the evening kick off games ...just renewed my season too so I hope things turn around soon..

Maybe we could simply play the same shape but simply be more aggressive and only pas for a reason. Shooting at goal is good too.

We have more clean sheets than any other team in the league and we are fourth for goals scored from open play. Yet here we are moaning about the defence and saying we aren’t creative enough. The issues for me are clear. We are either very very good or we are absolutely awful. Nothing in the middle. We have lost the ability to grind out results when we aren’t playing well. When we do concede we don’t just concede one, we concede 2,3 or even 4. We need to be more threatening from set pieces too.
