As is well known I am one of those so called dissenters I can assure you I am not a "johnny come lately" and have experienced our football of pre and Post Tosh and pre and post our Liberty years.
I was baffled by the euphoria at the start if the season by Martins appointment given his "pedigree" and then the stuff of the "emperors new clothes" relating to the so called better football which was not yiedling any results, attaking chances or goals.
I hope this manager learns and now realises it about "managing" the resources he now has ...play to the strenghts of those he has to get results...doesnt mean we canot play attacking attractive football but didtch the keep the ball at all costs he is drilling in to people.
As others have said what aspirong players would want to join a "struggling" club..one rarely wins.

I’m with the club on this one. We have hundreds of midfielders. Why bring in longman or O Riley when we already have Grimes, Downes, Fulton, Ntcham, Wolf, Paterson etc. plus Dhanda at a push and other players who could slot in there (naughton did ok there under Potter)
For me left wing back was the number 1 priority for this window and maybe a centre back which is what we’ve got. Time will tell whether they are any good. Anything else is just a luxury we can’t afford. Our squad isn’t bad, it isn’t weak. We simply need to cut our the mistakes. We generally play well but we have missed so many good chances and keep having brain farts at the back.

If money was that tight then Martin and the scouts should have been told at the start of the window.
To set up searches, find players who want to come here, get in to talks, come to agreements and then have it all fall through due to lack of support from above is disgarceful.

Yep not Martin’s fault at all, it’s the club who are letting themselves down in January transfer windows season after season.

it's a bit old school but start with the defence. Stop conceding silly goals, and some we have conceded have been spectacularly silly. Then pick players in their best positions. We could have Smith and Grimes at CDM but we'd need Pato back to have him Ntcham and Downes further forward. If 2 up front we have the 3 to choose from so why not try them in different pairings to see what works better.
As it goes the hours of my job mean I probably won't go to many midweek games now, unless I've booked the shift off so tonight I wont be there but (and I keep saying it) whatever Martin and the owners say or do, the fans don't have limitless patience and if they are not careful the crowd will turn again. | |

They said two interesting facts on commentary on the weekend. We have more clean sheets than any other team in the league and we are fourth for goals scored from open play. Yet here we are moaning about the defence and saying we aren’t creative enough.
The issues for me are clear. We are either very very good or we are absolutely awful. Nothing in the middle. We have lost the ability to grind out results when we aren’t playing well. When we do concede we don’t just concede one, we concede 2,3 or even 4. We need to be more threatening from set pieces too. | | | |
