I remember Guehi was with us and playing regularly for almost 9 months before he could really claim to be better than players he'd ousted. It wasn’t just his first few games he that he was shakey. Tended to lose his positioning a lot and drew our players out of position to cover.

SO right Jasper....this season is supposed to be one of transition and part of the process.
Surely Cooper would have been better off here and [art of the process rather than be at a club where the coaches have a different "process" to ours?
Bennet, Naughton all towards the end of their careers/contracts surely Brandon Cooper should be here rather than us developing for Man City.

because he's 18 and you are comparing him to Williams who played for Liverpool last season and in the Champions League, I said it at the time and I'm still convinced that Williams didn't want to be here and just went through the motions here.
And of course it makes a difference a massive one that he's only 18, you are judging him on his one appearance, far to early to judge as to whether he is good or bad especially considering he's a centre half that's very young for that position.
An 18 month loan is better than a 6 month or a 12 month, I don't like loans myself, for the simple reason is that we got to find another player when that player goes back, especially if that loan has been a successful one, although my opinion is that an 18 month loan is a better deal for us and the player himself because we have him longer and could well get more benefits from the loan, but of course the by product of that is it develops the player for his club, but the player has to have the capacity to improve.

Loans are used by most Championship clubs for an extra edge. They pay for themselves. Swansea would never got to the play offs in the last two seasons without Woodman Guehi Brewster Gallagher etc.
Swsnsea could have bought both Surridge and Goykeres on the cheap from their loans. Both would have been good long terms signings. There has been no 6 ft + centre forward pathway blocked. McBurney was the only one for years. |  |

He did well in his first game, so if you don't want to judge him on it that seems a bit unfair.
Martin and his team (and Mark Allen who originally signed him for Man City) will be judged on the player he is, because regardless of his age he's been brought in to play ahead of our own young senior pros. We'll almost have to thread a needle with him to make it genuinely worthwhile; if he does too well right away he could be moved elsewhere as Laird was, but if he takes 9-12 months to bed in and develop that time will have surely been better invested in our own assets in his position (Cooper, Evans, Butler, Rushesha all older). | | | |
