More self preservation.
If I hadn't have said it, others ( not necessarily the ones on ignore) would have jumped on and made comments like " Thought you had xxx on ignore?"

Don't believe everything you hear STID 😬 and that's in relation from both directions as per your OP.
I have just limited my responses to certain posters, it's clear that some want more than a reply so I just will turn the tap with some at a certain point and control the situation.
What I have witnessed lately more than ever before is AC posting on threads to clearly shake the sheet and his attack on Sir John from nowhere was not acceptable at all for me but I chose to not get involved on that post but thought it would have and hopefully has been sorted by admin because that was just a clear and unprovoked attack for me.
There are some funny goings on with this site but it creates clicks and posts 🤦â€â™‚ï¸
At the end of the day as it has over the years, the trouble eventually gets caught out and banned so enjoy the interactions with the decent ones, ones who are open minded, honest with no agenda and you will OK.

I do have people on ignore, I sometimes just log out to read their posts so I can follow the thread then log back in and make my post.
I try not to be clliquey, I try to answer the post honestly whether I agree or disagree. I suppose it's inevitable that some people will take my defence of a post as being part of a clique with that poster. People see what they want to see.

Reading your posts on a daily basis was having a negative effect on my cheerful persona. I am not entirely sure your posts are good for the well being of this excellent portal but that is a matter for the owner.

Many many things irritate me on here and then I take a step back.
I get truly puzzled when people make out we have had a good season or that our owners are to be trusted to take us to the next level.

Putting people on ignore isn't anti democratic, that's a weird conflation. If ignoring people makes for a better experience then its better for the board, resulting in fewer arguments and fewer getting banned.
