Played OK but not excellent in my opinion, he slowed things down and didn't hold his defensive line with Welsh, he seemed half a yard behind causing us to get caught a couple of times. I think our back four should be Key, Lissah, Welsh and Tymon. If Cabango wasn't the designated Captain would he be picked, IMO no. |  | | |

When it happened on Saturday, there wasn't a good angle to see and replays didn't show anything definitive either (whether offside or not). Lissah appeared to be playing a high line with Cabango on his quarter.
The most telling indication that either the player was offside or Cabango was keeping Ramazani onside was where the asst ref was positioned. The asst ref appeared to be out of position to make the call, imo. The asst ref appeared to be more in line with Welsh who was more aligned with Lissah's line than Cabango's. WR, I looked at it again (see the Extended Highlights at the 6:51 mark) and saw that the ref was in line with the play. You can see him standing in the light green portion of the field and is definitely in line with Cabango. However, Cabango was not on the same high line with Lissah, Welsh, and Tymon who all 3 are standing the dark green portion of the field. At the 6:51 of the Extended Highlights, you don't see where Ramazani is in relationship with Ben's line.
Maybe a communication problem with Cabango and his back line mates? | | | |

Credit where it is due I thought he started the game very positive and moved the ball forward through into the midfielders a lot more in the first half which is a massive improvement vs his last game and hopefully a sign the coaches have recognised this too.
There is a decent player there no doubt and if the coaches can get him comfortable playing the ball forward more often he can add a lot more value to this team, he will face a much better press than the Burnley one on Saturday however so needs to continue to refine his game if he is to keep his place. An encouraging first half performance and hopefully the coaches can help develop his game even more for his and the team's sake. | |

Cabango is a good championship player but I’m unsure he has the credentials to be involved in most games this season that would see a promotion. Same for Fulton. He’s played incredibly well this season but when we come unstuck like Southampton he offers little in response. Just my opinion.

Thought Cabango got into the refs face as needed by a captain against Burnley. There could have been a lack of communication in holding the offside line but there was nowhere near as bad are the lack of communication or understanding that existed playing alongside Burgess mainly because both players seem to want to attack the same aerial ball at set pieces while at our defensive corners it lead to confusion with Vigouroux as well, in open play it could include the midfield . I also got the impression that Burgess was the one doing the most talking and not necessarily in a good way, seemingly berating players at times a little too often rather than offer encouragement.
Welsh is a much better foil to work off for Cabango or Lissah. As for Cabango his distribution has been a lot better or quicker out to the right for the last season or so, the trouble he seems to be having at the moment is trying a little too hard in some respects, be it making an extremely reckless challenge, trying to decide to track or get goalside of a striker or throwing his hand in the air to give away aa penalty. As for his passing the question could be the positioning of Key in relation to his winger, one ball that Cabango played out to Yeo gave the recieving player no room as Key had moved forward and Yeo had dropped back to the same position. It has been nice to see Cabango hitting the wingers feet bypassing Key which allows Key to come onto Yeo's wall pass at pace if that is the preferred best option for Yeo. Cabango does have a good strong pass at times that can help the recieve with good ball control but as said previously when passes become predictable they are prone to be cut out, a number on the left hand side were against Burnley the inside ball to the oncoming Tymon but I think that is down to inexperienced wing play by Widell, we have seen it with Eom but he has had that extra season compared to Widell to make the right choice of options to take.
Must say Cabango trying too hard got us a 90 minute goal against Cardiff a while back so happy to see in in the opposition's penalty box at corners. Providing nobody like Darling and Burgess are going for the same ball in the same area of the goalmouth as has previously been seen | | | |

He’s the best ‘defender’ of the three of them. I don’t think he gets enough credit for throwing himself into blocks , putting the man and the ball out for a throw in etc. Never seems to get dominated by Kiefer Moore types.
But Matos’ ethos is moving the ball back to front quickly and purposefully. Having two ball playing centre backs who can start off and get involved with attacks makes that so much easier.
A much nicer problem to have than having to rely on two CBs all season like we had under previous owners. | | | |

He’s the best ‘defender’ of the three of them. I don’t think he gets enough credit for throwing himself into blocks , putting the man and the ball out for a throw in etc. Never seems to get dominated by Kiefer Moore types.
But Matos’ ethos is moving the ball back to front quickly and purposefully. Having two ball playing centre backs who can start off and get involved with attacks makes that so much easier.
A much nicer problem to have than having to rely on two CBs all season like we had under previous owners. |
When teams opt to put the ball high into the penalty area or play long balls in the air up front as their only tactic then a defender like Cabango is almost essential. He's very good at what he does. We lose a bit a guile passing out but we need to complete with the likes of Lincoln. | |

I agree with you on his strengths, but his weaknesses are why, on the balance of it, I'd still prefer the other two. The added bonus of that is it also keeps Lissah in his best position.
There will be a role for him this season though, as will there for most of if not all of the players in the squad. | |
