I really feel for him. He really put the effort in, to try and make this country better. I would have Bazza over bojo any day of the week

Yep, fair play to anyone who gets out there and is involved - even if I don't agree with all of their views / policies.

I have to say that I feel very sorry for The Greens - this is a time their message needs to be heard and it was drowned out by the agenda of our times. If I had / have time to get involved with politics I think they would be the Party I would offer help to.

When you live in your own bubble with your ego enforced by your own insular group of sycophants.
When all you do is sit in a room with your mates all of whom tell you all the same things.
Where you all have the same ideology.
Where you all formulate your plans for a better world.
Where all you can do is constantly pat yourselves on the back bigging yourselves up as superior.
Where everyone who disagrees with you is obviously wrong and an evil tory... or Jewish

It all goes tits up.

Its everyone else's fault. Nothing to do with the fact we're living in cloud cuckoo land.

Welcome to Momentum!!!!

Without that last sentence it could’ve applied to all of the party leaders.
Jo Swinson put her own name on the side of an election bus,and sturgeon has the whole country behind and around her.
The less said about Boris evicting anyone from the party who didn’t agree with him,the better.

Tory vote up 1.2%.

Surprised me too. Really underlines what a disaster Corbyn has been. When is Labour going to learn that scaring the bejaysus out of middle income people is never, ever going to win them an election.

Big up to not so secret agent Sam Gyimah, the only candidate to win a seat for the Tories and not end up an MP.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

I would vote labour if there were more MPs like frank field, Alan Johnson , Kate hooey etc
Labour have been so far to the left they have done the impossible and even alienated the north
Milliband was no better either
It’s going to be a long road back for them now

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Their problem was that they got the wrong Milliband - and that was down to the power of the unions.
The last few years will make interesting reading for politics students in the future.

BBC says turnout was down 1.5% compared to 2017.

Doesn't quite tie in with the media narrative yesterday, of it being 'the most important election for generations' and numerous photos of queues at polling stations. Must have been all those Tory supporters coming out the woodwork.

For a December election it was a hell of a turnout IMO. Would’ve definitely backed lower.

Let the great British brain drain begin, I hope Scotland and Northern Ireland go their own way they don’t deserve to be dragged into the dirt by the navel-gazing xenophobes in england.

FYI....there are around a million British living in the USA, probably triple that residing through Canada, Australia, South Africa etc etc. Now though you read posts from those in the States and elsewhere who would concur with your views, 8/10 do not, just stop in at any British club or bar and listen to the main reasons they quit the UK, few cite the weather as a priority. The brain drain,(entrepreneurial minded), began a long long time ago.

As I said I think it will be too challenging with Brexit still front and centre. However I'm interested by your assertion that tax increases always hit the poorest. Isn't that exactly what Labour were proposing?

I was thinking petrol duty and possible a VAT hike.

I cant stand James O Brien on LBC but this result handed his arse to him this morning and he was forced to reflect on how Labour messed it up.

He concluded that for Labour you are either a victim(the many) virtuous(Corbyn supporters)
or a villain (the few) .
He didnt say anything to anyone in between . The hardworking , just about keeping it going majority.
He also said that the stock insult from the Corbynistas was "fck of and join the Tories"...so millions did

More than compensated for by the same sort of person emigrating to the UK, many of them from France, Italy, Spain and so on where it can be much more difficult to start businesses. Of course, they won't be coming in the same numbers any more.

Neither of which are in the Tory manifesto nor are exclusive to the Tory party. What Boris has proposed is raising the basic personal allowance or national insurance threshold, either of which will help the poor.

Besides you can't have it both ways; to improve services, you have to spend money. There isn't a secret stash hidden away under the floorboards so that would invariably mean higher taxes.

There is no panacea of uncontrolled immigration, big benefits bills, ample housing, excellent public services yet low taxes. Those conditions are like oil and water; they simply don't mix.

Fair play indeed. I have a good friend oop north who joined the Labour campaign trail often braving sub-zero temperatures just to listen to folk spit venom (on all sides). We don't agree on politics but nevertheless I told him that I was proud of him for trying to make a difference and assured him that our differing political views will never impact our friendship. After all, we both have QPR running through our veins.

If he does raise the personal allowance or the lower national insurance threshold then that will help the poor. However I have a low trust threshold for politicians so I'll believe it when I see it.

come on, James O'Brien is a shock jock idiot

he'd conclude Corbyn wearing odd socks lost him the election before acknowledging that Labour actually should have backed Leave as soon as the referendum was announced.

Couldn't help but laugh and fume at Margaret Hodge on R4 this morning in equal measure. Faced with the question of why Labour had lost so many seats, mostly in the North, she said it was because he's racist. Ok let's say that's true - we've just elected Boris Johnson as PM and THEY'RE ALMOST ALL LEAVE SEATS. I just wish those idiots would just admit they got it wrong putting so much pressure on Labour to back Remain. LDs and Corbyn's critics inside Labour spent a lot of time calling Corbyn a Brexiteer and they probably would have done a lot better if was allowed to be.

i'm not saying i saw that many northern seats and votes falling, the Farage-Johnson alliance probably exacerbated it, but f*ck it seems pretty clear to me in hindsight

I don't feel sorry for the Greens at all, the Lib Dems and Labour both had very promising climate and enviromental policies and the Greens can take a great deal of pride and credit for that. so they decided to directly cause Labour to lose Stroud to a party who are split on climate change insofar half of them don't believe in it and half of them do and don't care
