I'm not proud of this, but....

Charlie Austin.
Fine, fine player.
Did a great job for us.
Never smiled.

Just couldn't warm to him.

David Seaman don't think I ever saw him save a penalty. And any free kick from around the box seemed to fly in. Wasn't bothered at all when he left. Much preferred Stejskal.

I was sick when he left, Oz.

I know he was weak on penos (Simod cup apart) and on free kicks but in open play he was superb with excellent reflexes, the best positioning of any Rangers goalie in my lifetime and also commanding on crosses.

Plus I liked him. Seemed a good fella.

John Gregory for me.

I'm another one who can't give a reason, but he left me cold.

This may well have changed if his superb chip volley had gone in against tottenham instead of hitting the underside of the bar!

I'm probably in a minority of one... Les Ferdinand. Always seemed to want to be elsewhere and that grated on me.

I never got that from him, Jogo. In fact, I think he probably stayed too long for his own career and could have agitated for a move if he wanted to. I think it cost him England caps.

I'm going to have to add my vote for Gallen too.

As a kid, loved him as a player, he was one of my favourites, he was one of us, he scored goals, he had a magic hat etc...brilliant.

As we've both got older though...he does strike me a bit as having a bit of a sense of entitlement around QPR...ie rather than him belonging to us, we belong to him, and he comes across as very criticial of anyone and everyone to do with QPR now because the Gallen family aren't involved anymore. Even his digs at Holloway at one of the pods a couple of years ago didn't come across well to me, given Holloway arguably rescued his career by bringing him back to QPR, and gave him some of the best years of his career.

As a player - is a legend to me and always will be. As a person...hmm, not keen I'm afraid.

Joey Barton is my ultimate "hated QPR" player and always will be. Couldnt stand him. But I wouldnt say he was much good for us either for most of his time at the club so on that basis alone I will say he doesn't qualify for this thread

Don Givens, very rude and arrogant.

Gerry Frances, after been out for a long time with the back problems, as soon as he was supposedly fit, wanted to go to Palace, came back for a short while but never the same player and bugged off to Coventry.

Gallen, always had the air of him doing us a favour, maybe he did, somewhat upset when he heard me telling someone he was finished as a striker, too slow and overweight, I thought he was going to have a hissyfit and cry, clearly did not like criticism or the truth hurt.

As time passes I don’t mind Barton as much. He really let us down at Hull which grated on me more than the City game and others.

I wonder if Gallen gets a bit surly because of the career he almost had and was unlucky not to. Must be hard knowing that as good as you were you were an unfortunate injury away from maybe a long Prem career and even England caps which understandably isn’t the vibe from Bircham/Cook who equally love the club but were never going to hit those heights. Not on topic but for the first time I logged into the weekly club quiz to find a half cut Cook fiddling over his WiFi like a mid-90s dad.

I had a lot of time for Kevin Gallen and still do, we were stood behind the goal at Fratton Park when he done his ACL and strewth the poor bloke was in absolute agony, also he was/is a QPR fan we've seen him at away grounds with the fans at Notts Forest, Cardiff City and Colchester.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Gallens a QPR Legend in my book. He went out of his way to come over and spend a few minutes with me and my toddler son at upton park in a youth cup semi final/final game at West Ham in the very early 90's. There was only a few of us there and He spotted my boy in His QPR shirt and came over after the game for a chat. Gallen was just a kid himself at the time.

Loved him as a player . QPR In his bone marrow.

I’ve been trying to think of one for this and to be honest I can’t. I did think about Seaman but that was because of the way he went ( and the penalties thing (bar Watford, Simod Cup)). But he was a great ‘keeper.

If they’ve been good while playing for Rangers then there’s no reason to not like them is there? Who cares what they’re like outside of football.

A few bands or authors I’ve like have turned out to be a bit wan ky but still enjoy their work.

Oh ok, Peter Reid. Looked p!ssed off to be playing for us.

I concur with Austin.

Was a brilliant player but came across as a bit arrogant which was a surprise considering where he came from in terms of his football career.

After the play off final there was a party at the club and he was the only player who was grumpy. He could have been knackered but just didn't want to engage with a few people and then I started to presume it was because Bobby got the glory and not him. He did have a half chance and fluffed it and dropped into left midfield after O'Neil was sent off so did help us win but wasn't the main man.

Also second hand story is that when he was asked by a young player if he was concerend about not playing at Southamption his response was not bothered because he was on 100k a week!

Nothing to do with Rangers, but I thought this was a good opportunity to throw in the story of a player with a long, illustrious career despite hardly ever playing.

39 games in a 16 year career. Won three League Cup medals, one FA cup, UEFA Cup, Supercup, Charity Shield, all without getting on the pitch. Modern day legend.

Ya, I have to stick up for Gallen as well. I got to know his Parents, Steve and Kevin himself in the early 90's and they were a lovely family and loved Rangers as much as any of us.

We take everyone as we find them, and I found him to be a decent and likeable lad.

To be fair, I wouldn’t be troubling the psychology profession if I was picking up £100k a week to not play for Southampton!

As for good Rangers players I never warmed to: John Gregory. Always thought him a bit surly myself, but could live with it as he was a bloody good player.

Interesting view on Austin.

I remember his first few games his demeanour on the pitch didn't seem good, but I eventually warmed to him. He takes the game seriously and he got the goals he needed for us.

I also thought towards the end of his time with us, when it was clear he was going to leave he conducted himself well. No drama's and continued to score a few goals.

When you consider some of his recentish outburst you can see he can be a bit of a diva, but seemed to keep a lid on it for us.

Also, I'll never forgot when he pushed John Terry on the floor!

Yeah I want to stick up for Austin too. Loved him, absolutely loved him.
Also, his wife recently tweeted that their daughter was refusing to learn her 2x table on an app because it was being taught by some animated character in a Chelsea shirt. So - he clearly loves us.

I never particularly liked Zamora, have to say. Did better by the end, but was an injured waste of time for ages and it galls me that he gets so much love for the goal when that season Austin carried the team on his back (the entire team pretty much fell apart when he got injured), but Zamora gets the glory. Same season - Kranjcar. Sure he's a nice fella, but for me, Clive, an overweight waste of space.

Bare bones.

Have to agree with Zamora.
Let's face it, he was either shite or injured for most of his time with us.
The "oh Bobby Zamora" song was orginally sung just to take the piss.
If it wasn't for the Wembley goal he'd be remembered in the same way that we remember Andy Johnson, Shaun Shite-Phillips, Rio Ferdinand etc etc etc as past-it old crocks who only came to QPR for a big end-of-career payout.

Gavin Peacock, just didnt rate him as being that good - his record says otherwise, but just not for me.

Never really warmed to Bircham either as a player, always felt he perhaps thought he was a better player than he actually was. If it hadnt been for the Rangers thru and thru supporter stuff, I just wonder if he would have been given quite such benefit of the doubt.

Never knowingly understood

He’s turned into a mad Old Testament pastor in Canada now and has put his foot in his mouth with LGBT activists and feminists by telling them they are going to hell.

Released a pretty controversial book too.

Not sure he can count as a good Rangers player.

An astonishing career really for a guy who seemed to mostly float around midfield five yards from the ball. 21 England caps!

Does come across as a nice bloke on tv though.

I think he's an excellent pundit and I usually find myself agreeing with his comments and observations.

It's just that most of the things he expects other players to do, he didn't do himself, at least not when he was wearing the hallowed blue and white hoops. I don't remember him putting in maximum effort, imposing himself on games and motivating others with his desire, determination and positive attitude.

Same.

I didn't much like John Gregory for reasons that now escape me, but I was a teenager so it was probably rubbish; looking back I can see that I underrated him and I liked him when he managed us.

I liked John Gregory as a player and I met him after the 1982 semi final, which he didn't play in.
I was a very pissed 16 year old and he seemed very nice, he signed my program and said he hoped to see us all (30,00 ish?) on Tuesday, cant member the opposition.

I think jermain jenas was a pretty tidy player at his peak. But like so many in that era, he was way past that by the time he got one more nice payday at rangers. Apparently he played 39 games for us. I didn't realize it was that many
