While we are all getting excited about next season and feel we have a genuine shout at the play-offs at least, what happens if we actually get promoted? We realistically have three players who may survive in the prem - Dieng, Dickie and Chair - so basically we are left with two options: Either we abandon all we have achieved and throw silly money at established premier league players who have no interest in anything except the money (sound familiar)? Or, we can do a Norwich and endure a miserable season in the top flight, in the hopes that we will bounce straight back up again the following season? Neither is a particularly pleasant scenario - is there an in between somewhere, where getting back to the prem may actually be enjoyable>?

There is so much strange and unreal stuff by Posters ...... probably not 'real' football people.

Of course we want to get promoted next season, everyone at the Club on the footballing side, bar none, will want promotion. I would also suggest that 99.9% of them think that we may have a chance, 2/3 more proper decent signings and we will be in with a proper chance.

And posters here are saying, refuse it, we will get beatings and so on.....promotion will build our club to that greatness we has several years ago and stop supporters from other teams laughing at us (it doesnt bother me if they laugh at us btw).

Madness, Promotion is paramount to us to build our club into a force in football again.

We got promoted twice in three seasons, where was this greatness you talk about?

The perfect season would be to reach the playoff final, then lose in a game where we are robbed — terrible refereeing, lucky goal for the other lot, everything that could go against us does. That way we've had a season where we've won a lot more than we've lost, we've had a nice day out at the end of it, we've got our excuses for why the best team lost, and we don't have the misery of losing every week the next season.

I'd love us to get promoted purely because it will ensure we have a football club for the next 10 years. We are being propped up at the moment.

10th -14th next season.

Way too much over confidence based on a good run but still a soft underbelly if our first choice 11 is not available.

On the optimistic side, if we retain the vast majority of the 11 preferred starters from 2021 and find another JoJo before the season starts then maybe with a fair wind we could creep in top 6 playoff places.

Love that there is so much positivity but I think we are not the done deal to finish top two next term

Poll: With no leg room, knees killing me, do I just go now or stay for the 2nd half o?

I know I've had to leave some FB groups. One supposed fan in a group said if we played Fulham in the play off final he'd want us to lose as we're not ready for promotion. Incredible.

I'd love our lot to romp the Championship, but then decline to be promoted.

Clearly, not gonna happen, so the alternative is to romp this league and then stick with the same squad and let whatever will be, be. I have always wondered how we'd have fared if we stuck with the 2010-1 team instead of Tony's supermarket sweep and subsequent Warnock sacking...

I think it’s a bit harsh to blame Tony for all the wasted signings in the late summer of 2011.I’m pretty sure that Colin had a list of players that he wanted once promotion was achieved, but tango and cash held out until the last minute to sell,so most of his first choice targets had gone,so we had to put up with his 2nd choices. But I’m certain that Colin had some input on who we bought at the last minute.
I do agree that with hindsight, his sacking was a bit unfair, and premature.

If we manage to get promoted. Keep the same players and let them enjoy the experience with us.
The best experience in the second part of this season is the team and fans are positive.
Worst scenario is we get demoted with some parachute money.

No moaning when we loose a few, back the manager, players and the board.

I know mate, 'wanting us to get beat' - never ever want that.

My wider thoughts are.......I don't particularly like the Premiership and its values but imho we (the fans) should all want us in the top division fighting it out with the top teams in the country - win or loose. But in other ways I do like the Premiership, some of the players are fantastic to watch, some of the stadiums we would play in would be great for us to see us play at, playing at Rotherham is just not the same as playing Tottenham at their new stadium, etc, etc. The media coverage would be wonderful, the money would help us move forward and I really think, financially, we will and not 'throw it away'. Ther are many more things as well that I want....our stadium full most weeks with an atmosphere we will remember.

Supporters and Posters need to understand the place to be is in the Premiership and I am most confident that the 'off the field' Team behind us are all fully focused on that for next season.

If we are good enough is another question but we are moving forward very nicely both on and off the pitch and imho we are in there with a chance for next season, just 2/3 more players .

One more point regarding the OP.....it is far to early to know what players will be good enough to play for QPR should we reach the Premiership - the game is very different than the Championship.

Let's cross this bridge when we come to it eh?

If we went up, lost every single game 8-0, and came back dead last, the money we'd get from it, the way the club is run now, would set us up for ten years or more. As long as we don't fall into the trap of blowing all £150m of it on wnkr footballers like we did last time, and come back with nothing to show from it other than a huge rebuild then it would be a good thing regardless of how we actually did.

I would strongly suggest that we have learnt our lessons......the 'off the field' team behind us are very much different to what we had in previous promotions to the Premiership - they will not allow it to happen. I also believe that MW is fully aware as well.

I think you guys are taking this thread a bit too seriously.

Nobody wants to get beat, and I presume everyone accepts that at the very least just a stint in the Prem would be good for us financially.

I think, and I agree with them, that some posters just don’t find the Premiership appealing. I disagree that it’s essential to our survival. See Brentford for example.

I agree it’s too early to write young players off.

Let’s win the Euros first then concentrate on winning the Championship 🎣

Fair enough I take your point your making. But let's say, for the sake of argument, we finished sixth with our current squad (including Jojo) and then made it up via play-offs. We can exclude Wallace, Barbet, Jorgi, Kakay, Carroll Ball, Jojo, Chaz,Dykes, Adomah and So Dieng, Dickie and Chair. Possibly Willock and Field (based on development potential ) and sin e, I think

What a miserable thread. 2 days after Charlie Austin returns permanently and you're here writing him off should we get promoted. Telling us all we can exclude Dykes as he won't make it, despite reaching double figures in his first season in the Championship and showing cracking form in the second half of the season. If he continues in that vein, which we'll likely need him to do if we are going to be in the mixer for promotion, and Prem teams will be knocking at our door for him. Except you're here saying we can exclude him as being good enough for the top division. Barbet, ever present last year and big improvement on previous form - "fvck him off".

Let's enjoy the ride and not be massive bellends about this. 5 months of good form, and we're writing off half the squad as not good enough.

I was dead against the thought of playing in the Prem again but that sounds like a pretty good option. Its all pie in the sky right now but if Huddersfield, Burnley and Bournemouth can do it then why not little old QPR?
Fluke a promotion via the playoffs again... have a season of plucky defeats (apart from doing the double over chelsea), take the cash and stick it in a high interest account, become a decent side in the Championship.
VAR, big club bias, Neville and Carragher all the time, stupid fixture changes make a longer stay than 1 season unacceptable.

I am not sure what you say is correct.....I actually think that many posters really want us to get beat so we don't get promoted, I think many posters really do not understand why we need to be in the Premier league. I think many posters would prefer us to win against lesser teams than play a good game against Man City or Chelsea.

We don’t NEED to be in the Premiership and if we do then we are in big trouble and so is everyone else. The majority of the 71 other clubs have never been there and are doing relatively fine.

While I don’t want us to get beat, I think I would enjoy doing well in the Championship more than getting spanked by the financial heavyweights. I don’t think that is particularly controversial.

Brentford are in the Premier League. Brentford. We have been overtaken by our feeder club.

I don't like the Premier League but I know that we need to get back there as soon as possible. And yes, we will get the odd thumping, but better to be there than seeing Brentford there and us becoming their feeder club.

We don't 'need' to get promoted next season, but if we did it would greatly benefit the club IF we manage it properly, which our business from last season would suggest we would.

All I want for next season is for us to continue to be competitive, if we can continue to do that the football will be enjoyable and the results will follow.

Basically this.
Hoos still at the helm would be a vast improvement on our last visit to the Prem. Much more control on spending.
We should be looking for promotion every season from now on. Even if it's not next season.
I think we've turned a corner.
