Perhaps I'm watching this situation with QPR goggles, but seriously - Toney comes back after suspension of betting - against his own team in some instances - and is not only rewarded with the captains armband, but is fanboy welcomed by the people that he was derogatory towards ..... they are SO desperate to defend an absolute wrong un.... unreal.

A stunning record of 33 goals in just 67 premier league games for Brentford is the simple answer. If he were playing for QPR and keeping us in the premier league for what will be Brentford's fourth consecutive season, should they stay up this season, I'm sure we as fans would be just as "forgiving" .

His wrongs, in my view, pale into insignificance when compared to those perpetrated by a certain J Barton. A person who is still viewed favourably and even revered by some of our fans. A player who did absolutely nothing for us in the Premier League and probably earned more then, than Brentford are paying Toney today.

At least Toney has unquestionably delivered for them in the Premier League, wrongs notwithstanding.

And he scored on his first game back.
Blimey, I'd have bet on that…

Stan would have been banned every week, glass houses and all that.

David Brooks- 16 months out with cancer. Mild applause.

Ivan Toney- Sky fapping like he’s taken eight months out to broker a deal for world peace rather than doing one of the few things his very pampered profession doesn’t allow while begging bigger clubs to take him.

Also his initials are IBET.

BBC R.London commentator also giving him the big Rim before and during the match, and when he scored the FK it was like she’d just beheld the second coming.

Seems like it doesn’t matter how you’ve behaved to your fans or what you’ve done to earn the ban; if it’s sport, anything goes.

Served his ban, move on.
Great player tbf. Imagine taking Les Ferdinand out of the 1993 to 1995 QPR team for 8 months. You saw what happened when he was eventually sold. That's going to be Brentfords dilemma next season..

Had the misfortune of looking up from my pint at the pub screen just after the final whistle,

Jesus wept, it was a freak show, the carry on singing to some rave tune, jumping around like gimps,

As bad as its been at ours always be thankful you're Rangers.

Massively over the top and cringeworthy.

He treats his club like they're beneath him and yet they still worship him. His ban for betting could've put Brentford's position in the prem in danger yet the club/fans don't seem to mind. It's up there with chelsea worshipping Terry, Liverpool backing Suarez, and Utd idolising Cantona. Football fans are a strange breed.

Poll: Who’s better?

This is the bit that I couldn't tolerate The fact that he literally thinks Brentford are too small form and that's he's way too good for them. We've had players like that and I'd rather see an Osman Kaykay trying his best than an Ivan Toney literally laughing at us

Strange, all those players you mention are excellent players who done a 'proper' job for their Club, including Toney.....why wouldn't they worship him??

Because they support the club not the player, and the player in each case let the club down and dragged their name through the mud. If a poor player had done the same the club and the fans wouldn't tolerate it, the same standards should be held to all players otherwise it's just simple double standards. You can appreciate their quality on the pitch without worshipping them.

He's a decent player, that's as far it goes. If he's done what's been alleged then he needs to take responsibility for it.

I loved watching Taarabt but am very clear about his flaws too. I know plenty of fans of every club would react the same as in those examples I mentioned but personally I don't get wrapped up in idolising individuals.
