Take it the club still do that thing of ironing a players name on the back of the shirt.
Why not ask for capital PR to be ironed on the front instead, it’d work perfectly by using smaller letters and lining the top of letters up with the top of the Q.

My two boys are in exactly this business. I will ask them how much the shirt front is worth . They have worked for both Man Utd and FIFA commercial but as a Champ team with limited TV exposure it won’t be much . |

Being the daughter of a man who ran casinos all his life I’m in a very glass house here so I’m not going to weigh in on whether it’s worse to have gambling sponsors or alcohol ones or whatever. But I would observe that, for a club who are making it a policy point to have a young squad and develop a youth player pipeline, it’s a bit incongruous to keep bringing in sponsors that wouldn’t be allowed on an underage player’s shirt. |  | | |

I also understand the ‘Guinness shirt’ argument earlier in the thread .
But it’s of a time. No one buys that shirt for the sponsor , they buy it for the quality of football of the era and with or without the sponsor , it’s possibly the best football kit ever made .
The thing I’m uncomfortable with about the betting / casino sponsors of today and the last few years is the climate we live in where , speaking personally and I’d imagine for a great deal of people, living day to day is so difficult with cost of living etc , that having a shirt sponsor today that ultimately could drive individuals and families into terrible financial trouble doesn’t sit right.
However , I’m a hypocritical pillock because if I’m honest with myself and we romp to Championship glory this season (ha!) I’ll wear that shirt with pride and unfortunately the club know this .
It’s just a shame that when the ban on betting companies arrives , we sneak it in incognito . |  | | |

I don't buy the shirts so I know this is easy for me to say but the best way to let the club know of your disapproval of a sponsor is to refuse to buy the shirt and to tell others to do the same.
Even go a step further and inform the club of your decision.
As someone's already said, money talks. If enough people did this, it might make the club think twice. |  | | |

Precisely what I was thinking.
I suspect more of us have seen alcohol rather than gambling having a detrimental influence on families.
My grandad, lovely man, but went blind and died aged 64 from sclerosis after a very long standing drink problem but I don’t bang on about the Guinness shirt, actually love the shirt.
Then again, that was long before virtue signalling became a thing. I dunno. |
I get your point but the fact remains that in this day and age we could do so much better than go for an online casino company. Mr Q don't even do traditional bookmaking - you know, where at least the punter has a vague chance of winning and the bookie a vague chance of losing now and again - it's all online casino. Where the supplier is literally guaranteed to make profit. Where on the (very) odd occasion a jackpot drops (see recent news) - they claim a "malfunction" or a "glitch" and refuse to pay out (and that was William Hill, for lord's sake) and some poor sap who had thought they were winning £100k doesn't get it.
Yet, funnily enough, no player that lost ever gets their money back due to a "glitch".

Total merchandise sales from the last two years of accounts have been £2.0m and £1.9m respectively - as far as the club are concerned, from a purely financial viewpoint they'd stick quite literally anything on the kit as a sponsor if they got paid slightly over 7 figures for it as it would supercede the entire year's worth of commercial sales.
It's not like there's a massive hidden buyer base just waiting for the platonic ideal of a QPR kit to be released so they can throw money at the club.
Frankly, unless we're somehow going to unearth a production line of talent from non-league who are all somehow good enough for the Championship who are also happy to be paid about 75% less than their average counterparts in the league, there's not any real alternative. | | | |

I used to talk to mark devlin about this. Fine have the sponsor on the kit for the team. Supporters one leave it off. It’s irrelevant in numbers seeing middle aged men getting ‘eyes’ on the sponsor then tv and press.

I would rather not have a bookie on the shirt. Last one I bought was the Convivia one precisely to avoid firms like Football Index, Royal Panda, Smarkets, BetUk and Copybet.
It's not virtue signalling so much as my not actively participating in those firms' advertising. It's not as though the club doesn't get my support from other revenue streams. |  |

Great point.
Every penny counts for a club of our size, and of course we’ll never know exactly how much these deals bring in. But if the difference between having Global Hyper Mega Evil Corp Plc on the shirt or a smaller local company run by actual QPR fans is less than, say, 500k, then that only pays for the equivalent of renewing one lightly-used Jake Clarke-Salter, in which case I don’t think it’s excessive to ask a few questions about our priorities as a club.
