We all knew it would be bad but that was utter dross.
Still reading on here the manager has to set them up better , has to get them to play forward and not side to side, has to get them to man make and not zonal mark and on and on and on our fan base goes letting this bunch of footballers of the hook and blaming everybody but them for their incompetence. MC has said time after time that he doesn’t want them keeping the ball for keeping the balls sake . He wants them keeping it with purpose but they can’t do it. They ain’t brave enough or good enough. The movement isn’t intelligent enough and when we do move the ball forward the first Touch is poor or the pass is astray.

Yeah you are ‘actually reading’ that some people thought the starting 11 was poor.
Too safe considering we desperately needed to score goals and were at home to a bang average side. Yes it would have been a gamble to start two up front or Kolli/Armstrong on the wing but if anyone expected that starting line up to score a goal or even create a decent chance then the first half performance proved you wrong.

Rewatching the highlights and it looks like we’re defending zonally with Dunne the spare man to attack (or should that be defend!) the ball in the six yard box which makes sense as Larkeche isn’t good enough in the air to be relied upon as the main defender in that zone.
Dunne challenges for the header but seems to arrive late and perhaps misjudges the flight of the ball as he doesn’t get anywhere near it. It’s a disappointing attempt given that he’s meant to be one of our best centre backs at defending set pieces. | | | |

It looks like our centre backs have been given zones to defend and attack the ball not a specific opposition player hence why Dunne and JCS are both ‘spare’. Dunne seems to be more central six yard box whilst JCS is back post. | | | |

Started the second half well, encouraging to see the team show some character and score the goal. I honestly thought we would push on from there but we let Cardiff back in to the game.
Begovich looked to be heading for the Hot Dog stand in South Africa Road as he was nowhere near the ball, utter madness.
A lot is going to depend on how seriously injured the missing players are but the games are now beginning to disappear quickly and we are likely to drop another place tonight.

At the end of the season I was in the 'if it a'int bolted down, get rid" school and nothing has changed. This is not a squad that needs a "tweak" here; the strikers are non-existent, the midfield utterly unfit for purpose. CBs full of players we'll only get 25 games from each and Jimmy Dumb. Wingers who can't score regularly and a goalkeeper capable of brilliance, but who has cost us points with glaring errors whilst promoting Chel*** podcasts and flogging gloves.
