This has been irritating me / confusing me so maybe someone can reason with me.
This feels like a problem that doesn’t need solving. Black cabs, Uber, mini cabs all relatively easy to get and certainly in the case of black cabs provide some level of safety and security. Plus it gives employment to many thousands of drivers.

I was in Atlanta the other month and pretty much every time I ordered an Uber a driverless one came. They don't do the airport routes – I guess the unpredictability of pulling up at a chaotic terminal would be too much – and they are very cautious – they will stop for more or less anything. That said, I they were very reliable, and I never had to make conversation. | | | |
