The biggest issue I have is trying to stop people working but these lads I have with me today are job and knock so no work no pay.

The amount of water vapour air can hold increases with temperature. So relative humidity of 50% at 40C feels a lot more humid than 50% at 20C. |  |

It’s the hottest part of the centre, inside or out (104 degrees today). We have someone who insists on watering the concrete floor as she believes it cools the area down. My sweat argues differently-is she right? My body tells me it’s increasing the humidity and the overall temperature.
Really interested to know if she’s correct.

I was always taught to wet the concrete in the polytunnel, lowers the temperature and raises the moisture content in the air (I'm not saying humidity in case I'm wrong), the plants love it.

This will raise the RH in the area and, long term, cool the area.
Concrete and masonry are heat holders so overtime give off heat by convection
So if you cool the heat source you’re dropping the temperature
This is energy transfer via radiation to holder and then convection from holder to air. In the very short term the energy release will give a feeling of higher temperature as the RH level higher meaning your body less efficient when it’s the medium for energy transfer
Longer term the area will be cooler when the RH condenses.
The Romans worked this out centuries ago.
