Rather than doing international breaks in September and October they are just doing them together so a 2 weeks break then back again, one more in November
Yep... and good to see there is a 2 week break in Jan... after the Christmas period... which makes sense
Nothing over Easter, again due to an international break.... not sure how that will go down .....
Just done a quick recce and out of the dreaded 3 game week... we have 7 with 2 games away and 5 with 2 games at home...

We seemed to have many players who werent 100% match fit, so the system of "LOADING" was incorporated LAST SEASON, so none of the first few games did we have anywhere near a first team squad and others played for 45 minutes or just into second half before being subbed, because it would increase their chances of injury.
Anyhow, when some did come back after periods of rest, they all got injured anyhow.
Even, if there was some element of truth in their reasoning, the club need to carefully manage this, as fans wont accept weakened squads if its not 100% neccessary.

Agree. With those opening 8 games, if the club don't have the squad 95% set and all at 100% conditioned for Portsmouth they're mad, we should be top 6 by the end of September as a minimum.

I totally agree, and because we have those easier games early on, the club would do well to complete its transfer business early, so new players are bedded in *before* the season starts.

Premier League starts a week later so they can show games at 3pm when there isn't a full league programme, is the same over Easter as well usually and Boxing DaY

Yes, they moved all Championship matches to 12.30, but thankfully they're not doing that this season. Perhaps they realised that was not in the best interests of the clubs (or more importantly for them, Sky!)
It's still part of the Sky contract that all opening day, bank holiday, midweek & last day games are shown.

Sky comes in for a lot of criticism but that’s very fair. Very handy for planning ahead.
It all comes down to the EFL, they should retain control over when fixtures are played much like UEFA do with Champions league etc but EFL and premier League have sold that to the broadcasters so they can change anything they want. Whilst the anger goes towards Sky (and rightly so at times) this problem could easily be solved by the governing bodies but it would mean less money for tv deals potentially
