As me and the kids sit here waiting to board our delayed flight back to the UK it’s given me time to think of things (people mainly) that I’ve noticed during our week break in a family resort;
- English people really don’t know how to conduct themselves, no wonder the ‘brits abroad’ have a bad reputation
- Never seen such a large collection of broccoli-boys hair cuts
- Most of the teen boys look like they’re about to drive the wrong way along a motorway
- ‘Benidorm Grans’ can’t hold their drink and cackle at 110db
- All inclusive food & drink is consumed as though their life depends on it.
- it’s a family holiday, why are you swearing like a trooper in front of not only your kids but everyone else’s too
- All the English kids wearing Barcelona, R Madrid, Bayern, Munich, Inter Miami shirts and all the non English kids wearing Man Ciy, Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal etc 😵💫
- There’s always at least one family who are obnoxious, entitled, loud, complaining, aggressive (kids too) and generally a right pain in the butt
- Nothing wrong with wearing nice clothes but you really, really don’t need to wear a ball gown for dinner. It’s a Jet2/TUI holiday, not the Ritz
- Nicest people I met were from Wales or the North East, Yorkshire people… time to clean up your act unless you revel in the Millwall-esque “No one likes us, we don’t care…” act.
- The hotel has ‘cup bins’ every few yards for you to put your solid plastic cups in so they are easier to collect and be washed ready for quick re-use rotation but noooo, that’s far too difficult, much easier to just leave them by the poolside along with all your other crap.
- Hotel staff are saints putting up with this all summer long
Might start looking at alternatives next year now the kids are growing up!

Drove to the south of France, not too far from Lyon,. Not too busy, beautiful lakes and best of all barely any English people anywhere. Not sure how it compared price wise to an all inclusive but we had a lovely couple of weeks. Love France! |  | | |

Best place for family holidays when my 3 were young was Eurocamp in France. Defo recommend that rather than all inclusives in Spain or wherever. We use to pay about £2.5k -3k for two weeks, up to family of 8
Centerparks are good too, in the UK but a bit pricey.
We're going to Wales next week, little secluded cottage in the valleys with enclosed garden for the dogs.
Im not even middle class.

If you’ve got young kids echo some of the others here - drive to a nice part of France with all your kids’ sh-t and home comforts and plot up in one of their holiday camps.
France is noticeably cheaper than the UK these days, you’ll run into loads of Brits/Germans/Dutch and the locals doing the same thing, and you’ve got your own motor on hand for free.

For the most part Brits of a certain level in the class system are a real embarrassment to the country.
Also a huge embarrassment to themselves.
A little reality check for most people a lot of the waiters in Spain are from Latin America and most are inteligent people golding degrees abd just can't cut a break in Spain due to the way the system works here plus the lack of jobs.
So half these dimwits are likely being served by someone with a biology degree and can't find a job here.... then to suffer they need to put up with young drunks and these old idiots who only drink , swear abd eat chips |  | | |

Yeah, back in the day when the kids were kids, best bit of advice I was given was check out where the Germans go as those resorts had the best hotels and night life that the travel industry didn’t advertise to the Brits as they’d undoubtedly fck the place up.
Meant you could still go to Majorca etc whilst the minority of Brits in situ were doing the same thing. |  | | |

A few of those observations, I have no experience of, but the great majority - sadly - are spot-on. We spend a lot of time in SW France (others here recommend it) where, thankfully, Brits abroad do not display the characteristics that Juzzie describes. The worst of it is embarrassing and - personal view - it is possibly at its worst when English football fans go abroad and full of beer, impose themselves noisily on somewhere civilised, to the bewilderment and annoyance of the locals. | | | |

Mrs S and I spent a few days on the beach in Denia last year, a very pretty but nothing-special resort near Valencia and was very surprised that the holidaymakers were at least 80% local - maybe because it was just before the school summer holidays. We were also not expecting the behaviour of the locals - not just kids. Amazing amounts of drinking from both sexes and all ages, loud music and dope smoking on the beach, stag and hen parties in a bad way, roaring their heads off in the street, abandoned plastic cups everywhere in the night (gone by the morning), even drunks walking around naked, to the fury of some older people. However, the rowdiness came without any particular menace, and there were plenty of police around to move people along and disperse larger crowds. When people say: you can't generalise, I disagree! In my experience, character traits and behaviours associated with groups of people/races are frequently correct.
Yanks are loud and prone to saying very dumb things. The Brits who can be obnoxious and embarrassing, tend to always come from either the working or upper class ends of the scale. Living as I do near Eric above, we get a lot of Spanish and I cannot believe how loud and tight they are with their cash. Russians, Chinese, and Koreans can really take up space, and are noisy in doing so. Israelis, especially those finishing their national service are best avoided. Germans, 'stralians, Irish can be like Brits: wonderful or awful.
Generally, to avoid annoying tourists polluting your country, I'd only allow in: Canadians, Japanese (but not as tour groups), Kiwis, Nepalis, and the Portuguese. Everyone else requires vetting, preferably a reference from someone from one of the five countries above, and has to pay a deposit before getting their entry visas!!.
I don't do package holidays, I avoid travelling on school holidays and the height of summer. Kids are not a problem, a lack of parenting skills are and ultimately, the problems associated with antisocial idiots we see anywhere in the world would be significantly reduced if they weren't allowed out of their countries of origin!! |  |

Now you see I'd have to totally agree with you here.
But the thing is if you push on further into other groups the Self Righteous Society would have your guts....... unless of course it's the old positive discrimination.
I'll always say that Sikh's are the hardest working, most skilfull and loyal tradesmen I've ever worked with.... would argue that all day.
However, to also say that the Arabs are the worst, rudest, obnoxious, lying Clients I've ever had gets certain people clutching their pearls and screaming "CANCEL!!!"
You note the Israeli's "are best avoided" - 100%. There's very little between them and their neighbours and the closest I ever came to having a punch up on a plane was with a group of them.
But essentially what we are saying is - it takes all sorts to make a world.
I've met some fantastic Brits abroad when I've been on holidays and that's not just the young ladies from everywhere North of Birmingham when I was a regular visitor to the Balearics as a young 'un.............. | |

Several years ago there was a R4 survey from various resorts around the Med. The worst behaved, by a distance, British holidaymakers.
Rude, ignorant, no attempt to speak the local language, drunk and rowdy.
The recommendations re camping in France is a good one. A real mix of well behaved, friendly Europeans, close to pleasant beaches, some put on entertainment . If not, there's always local restaurants. And relatively easy to get to. For Western France, use Portsmouth , not Dover. |  |

On my holiday with my daughter and grandkids at the start of my month I told her who we will see wearing them, I wasn’t wrong.
Newcastle, Sunderland, Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke were the most common, lots of kids wearing Messi inter Miami shirts and Ronaldo Saudi kits. |  |

Before some moan of self-righteousness or even snobbery, then if you've got a lot of experience of living, working and travelling abroad, then my advice/motto, is thus: try blend in for the right reasons and don't stick out for the wrong ones!

Had a summer job at Heathrow years ago for a car hire company. Always fascinating to see how people from all over the world treated the staff. There was 100% agreement from everybody that South Africans were the worst customers, rude,aggressive, treated you like sh1t! On the last couple of days of our holiday in Alcúdia, Mallorca. The hotel we’re staying at isn’t bargain basement so there’s a mix of nationalities - but the Brits mostly keeping up to their rep. However, the worst here have been the Germans, of whom there are many. But it seems all the arseholes among them come from Köln - I have a German colleague at work and will be asking him next week if the city has a reputation for chavs in Germany |  |
