We’ve got the following 5 fixtures in October.
9th West Ham (away)
14th Derby (home)
17th Birmingham (away)
24th Swansea (home)
31st Southampton (away)
Definitely a tougher test than what we we’ve had so far.
As it stands Kone, Chair, Lamptey are currently out although Kone should be available from the 9th.
Cirkin will be banned for West Ham.

I think we’re setting ourselves up for disappointment if we expect to get any more than six points for those matches. It’s a really tough run against teams that are largely on good form, Derby aside.
It’s important that we remain within touching distance of the play offs though; as Hull taught us last season it’s not over until the end of the season. Both Hull and Ipswich were outside the play offs on 1st December last season. But they were both within touching distance and were pretty consistent after that. Consistency is really important across a long season and not going on long runs of losses like we did last season. |  | | |

Yes. We're top six but only two points better off than Lincoln and three points better than Bolton. This is the Championship - you will drop points against sides you're expected to beat and vice versa.
The positive is we have generally been playing a lot better this season - if we could play better for the whole 90 minutes and get more than 40% of our strikers in the squad, then this could be the season we want it to be. | | | |

Same here.
Whilst it looks a little daunting, especially given the form of 3 of those opponents, we should be looking at our own stats positively. Only 1 narrow defeat in 8, second meanest defensive record and, as we saw yesterday, we’re able to dig results out that we’ve been unable to over the last few years.
Agree that we should really be sitting on a couple of more points than we have, but this years’ squad have definitely got something about them that we’ve be missing for at least a decade.
Get a decent performance/result at West Ham and it could really kick this team on. | | | |

Only 1 narrow defeat in 8, second meanest defensive record and, as we saw yesterday, we’re able to dig results out that we’ve been unable to over the last few years.

Good post and if we even took half our point blank chances we would be at least 5 maybe 6 points higher .This year will come down to scoring goals IMO we have improved so much at the back and keeper (no negative comments so far from yesterdays goals Charles let in ) if we keep piling up chances a few more will sneak in |  | | |

This essentially. Defeats aren't inevitable just as there's no 'gimmes' in this league. Cliche alert but its the Championship and yes literally every team can beat another, there'll be dropped points when it's least expected and 3 points gained when on paper it looks easier to sh1t out a pool table. Every single season (in my lifetime anyway) has been this way, this season is likely to be no different.
That said rightly or wrongly, I'm sure the message boards of Norwich, Southampton, West Ham, Sheffield United etc are bemoaning their dropped points and struggling to understand why they're not top of the table with maximum points this morning. |  | | |

If we can get 2 wins and draw another 2 (or 3) then that would be very good. Better to win 3 and lose 2 than win one and draw the rest pointswise.. but there is also something to be said for not losing.
If we are playing well and not turning draws into wins when we are the better team (charlton/Bolton) then that starts becoming an issue, but if we are drawing games when not playing well then that is a positive.. all in all, will depend on a mixture of points on the board and how well we are playing, and also how many injuries we pick up.
I guess over 9 points will be very good work, any less than 6 will be dissapointing. |  | | |

I've no wish to join the legion of hardened pessimists here, but forgive me for not going full throttle happy clapper: we've won three games against teams currently in 16th, 19th and 21st. One loss from eight is encouraging and obviously we look better this season but there are still too many weaknesses in our game, as well as the injuries, to convince me we're going to stay near the top of the table for long when there are tougher games coming up. | |
