Cork was 10x the player for us that Clucas has been.

Certainly seemed to try his hardest when on the pitch.
I can't level that consideration on Clucas

Personally I think any players we sell, GP won't see a penny of it.
Too many bonuses, dividends to our many shareholders, new commercial department members to hire (someone has to make Pearlmann look effective!)etc
We're (us fans) now paying for a few years of mismanagement off the field in watching whatever little talented player we have get sold if possible.
Can't sell, loan them out for a fee.

Plenty of players in the U18's

If you wake up breathing, thats a good start to your day and you'll make many thousands of people envious.

Never have been a big fan of Clucas but are we in danger of changing too many players in the squad and who will we bring in as a replacement?. The last time I can remember this many changes was under Cusack and that ended well.

Losing £4/5m is never great business, but it’s as much as we can hope for and more than expected.

Clucas was never the type of player we needed, terrible work by Jenkins and co yet again. Saying that though I would have liked to have kept him for the Championship, but I’m guessing he wants out, never seemed settled here.

Losing 5 is a result for our DOF.
Ayew 20 Bony 13 Baston 15 that's well over 50 million if you include signing on fees and wages.
5 million is small change

Every single club loses money on some players.

Every single one.

Why should we be the exception?

Yes there are always players who lose money.
But Baston Ayew and Bony are inexcusable for a club of our size.
Ayew and Bony were just unforgivable really Baston was a joke of a signing.
The scouting team have mostly gone moneyball man now has less involvement.
Just the ringleader of the sorry mess who remains.

But we don’t know what the options were or what the situation was.

Signing nobody was a formula for certain relegation.

If nobody wanted to join then it was better to sign these and give ourself a chance (and we nearly stayed up after looking impossible) than sign nobody. We would have been slated even more for that.

Baston I agree though, we had sufficient profile at the time to attract someone better. But we were clearly not full of options when we signed Bony and Ayew back. Who on earth would want to come to us of decent pedigree and with the required experience.

But but but, we paid £17m for him from a relegated team in the last year of his contract

Should be investigated by the fraud squad IMO....other than Clucus, someone made a lot of money out of this deal, and I don't mean agents here.

There was nothing "moneyball" about signing two players who used to play for us. We all know there was one man responsible for that one.

Someone within our club made a lot of money out of our transfer deals ....question is who?

Mitrovich possibly.
Or the sensible solution keep Llorente.
Burnley signed Chris Woods an upgrade again.

Both Bony and Ayew were lazy signings to say the least.
How Jenkins has kept his post I just don't know.

Keeping Llorente was the opposite of sensible. Few months left on the contract before he could agree to walk for free and had a broken arm so couldn’t play.

We have to recycle money as a club or the club will be destroyed, and if we ditched that ethos then we would have been relegated long ago.

I would rather keep Renato than Clucas.
The only player I can recall being replaced because of the reaction of the crowd.

It comes to something when, if this comes off, we make a £3/4m loss on a player, after one season and quite rightly think we’ve done well out of it.

This would actually one of the best purchases and resales of recent seasons!

We have to recycle money did you manage to keep a straight face when you posted that.
Signing Bony on a 2 year deal was more expensive than keeping Llorente.
Llorente was sold for about the same as we bought Bony for.
His goals could have kept us in rhe PL.
Now we are shipping Ayew and Bony off for peanuts.
Your post makes no sense.

Clueless must have the best agent in the whole world .

First we get mugged for £17m quid and a year later it's another offering to to Burnley !

Dog of a player, no talent, bought at a crazy price and no room for improvement as he's too old to change, not fit to lace the boots of players like Jordi gomez,Mark Gower, pratley etc let alone the likes of cork, bodde,Britton and even canas and Fulton, who quite frankly is twice the player Sam is !

One of the dodgiest deals ever made and you can't help but think there were millions in brown paper bags going somewhere, it wasn't being spent on ability and talent that's for sure !

As in one of the best of a very bad bunch.

Comparing to the hits we have taken or are likely to take on Baston, Mesa, Bony, Andre Ayew, we’d have got off lightly.

I’m not suggesting it was good business.

Losing money on a player is never good news, the aim should be to break even as a minimum. All the loses equate to less money to spend on strengthening the team going forward.

Of course losing money on a player is never good news, but to think that there may be a chance of selling for him for £12 million feels like winning the lottery.

I will piggy back Clucas all the way to Burnley as long as the full £12m was reinvested on a couple of decent players
