| "Steve Cooper tells Swansea City's players to put fatigue to one side..&quo 17:19 - Mar 1 with 9094 views | DwightYorkeSuperstar | From the article: Cooper has brushed off questions about whether his team is tired. "It doesn't matter," he said. "It doesn't matter if they are (tired) or they are not - it's the season and the schedule we are in. "Even if they are, it doesn't mean you can't play well and win, so it's irrelevant really whether they are or they aren't." ------------------------------------ I'd like to see the reactions of some of the players after reading that. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/fo [Post edited 1 Mar 2021 17:28]

| "Steve Cooper tells Swansea City's players to put fatigue to one side..& on 22:01 - Mar 1 by Catullus | That's just ignoring that no athlete starts a race already tired, they have to manage fatigue during a race but they don't do that Marathon with the wall hitting them after 5 miles. Is it purely about matchdays, this fatigue or is he working them too hard in training too? With 2 games a week now they shouldn't need fitness training, to be worked too hard. The right training is more important. Any one of us, if we're honest, if we have bad nights sleep and go to work tired, do we perform as well? If we do too much overtime, don't we run out of steam and need a break? These guys are sportsmen not machines., Though even a machine will breakdown if it's not looked after properly. |
There is fine margins in top level sport, I know this isn't elite level so to speak but the point still stands.

I dont think they took charge of the game! We went one up..took the lead despite Pearsons so called superior tactical nous. We gifted them a goal within 11 mins of going ahead. We still attacked and created chances after that they were not dominant and keeping us off the ball....they scored their second from a set piece....their third came from another mistake. The Wurzels certainly did not boss the second half...we could /should have equalised at 1-2 down but Arriola blasted a golden chance over the bar after a nice passage of fast free flowing possesion football..Yes we lost but Bristol by no means were in control of the game second half

You're right. Which is often a strength and most probably is the reason why we are where we are right now. Because, not despite. Would far rather a manager and players with a vision, plan, ongoing tactics and the courage of the collective conviction than some snowflake that chops and changes like some of our fickle supporters do. Uninformed supporters who don't see us train, don't see the interrelationships, the underlying stats etc . Saturday was (mostly) a massive throwback to our identity, for proper Swans fans that get it. A joy to behold and some key lessons learned.

What he's saying, for the really thick here, is there's nothing that can be done about the schedule. The players have to play at their best no matter what. But yeah, lets make it that the manager don't care.

Ah it's thr proer fans then is it, that get it? You know someone having a different opinion to you doesn't make them less of a fan or not a proper fan. Being stubborn AND unable to adapt is not really a strength whereas having the courage of your convictions can be.

Cooper has yet again proven his ability to adapt, even to the most challenged, uninformed passive supporter. surely ? Did the meek anticipate his bold, innovative front 3 which won the game, along with his tried and tested mid-defence set ups ? Not a chance. Do the meek ever see our clever tactics unfold or have the wherewithal to begin to recognise our myriad of tactics ? Never. Some posters need to fast track any kind of proper education in football, instead of blindly spouting popular sheeple-speak to gain forum points.

How do we compare to other teams? With a small squad with the talent balance so heavily weighted towards 12 or 13 players, it seems weird to keep changing the team when in such a crucial part of the season. I’m ignoring keepers due to the nature of the position. I’ll start with the defenders and work my way through as when I can be bothered. Swansea starting defenders:- Cabango - 29 apps Guehi - 33 apps Bennett - 21 apps / Naughton 24 apps Average matches per player - 26.7 Brentford starting defenders Pinnock - 37 apps Sorensen - 31 apps Henry - 34 apps (been injured for a few weeks and out for season) Jansson - 14 apps (out for the season after ankle injury hence the games) Average matches per player 29.0 Norwich starting defenders Aarons - 38 apps Hanley - 34 apps Gibson - 27 apps Giannoulis - 30 apps Average matches per player 32.2 [Post edited 16 Mar 2021 10:03]

And Brentford have started to get iffy results because of that. It's a tough game for them tonight at Derby. Edit - Also, do you have the stats for minutes played to go with those stats? Subs made etc. [Post edited 16 Mar 2021 10:17]

Because of it? Not sure how anyone can come to that conclusion. I haven’t included their last game (which they won) because it would land on an odd number which is awkward to split in half. Brentford have got stronger as the season has gone on. So before this week:- Brentford in their first 17 games of the season got 28 points. Brentford in their last 17 games of the season got 35 points. No info on minutes on the pitch.

Again I have removed the last game just for the purposes of ease, which we also won. First 17 games of the season - 30 points Last 17 games of the season - 36 points.
