| Welsh independence on 18:49 - Jul 15 by Kilkennyjack | Born in Mumbles eh ? Very nice, most people who support the Swansea were brought up in the big post war council estates. Mumbles is more Swansea rugby really. Well if you were born in Mumbles, then you are welsh and thats that. Immigration into wales, at a large scale from England usually, can threaten the heartlands of our language and culture. Locals priced out. Immigration into England poses no such threat. Cymru is a nation of sanctuary and i am delighted about that. Refugees in need of safety, very welcome of course. Its a bit rich that the English are deporting poor people to Rwanda, whilst they trample into Wales. Live, work, and love in Wales. Then you are welsh. How do you manage to speak to so many refugees that you know how they think ? Remarkable insight fair play. |
I dont know what they think, no more than you do and you brand them all Welsh, what makes you think that you know them any better than me. I will add, if they all consider themselves Welsh then maybe they should be learning Welsh, I hear a lot of different languages in the town centre these days but very little Welsh. Tell me again, why does English immigration threaten our culture but immigration from across the world doesn't? We have a lot more in common with the Englsih than with Africans and middle easterners. Last point, what makes you think you know what sport EVERYBODY in Mumbles supports? Impressive mind reading again. When I was young there was Mumbles Rugby club with one senior team but there were very many football teams, Mumbles rangers had 4 sides back then. Amongst my mates only a few went to watch the Whites, most were football fans if not all SCFC. One more time, I am Welsh and British but what is even more important is, I am a human being, a resident of planet Earth as are we all. You should try being human once in a while.

For a long time most places in south Wales have had more football teams than rugby and that has only ever increased. For interest of balance and that you dont think all Indy supporters have quite so eccentric views. All immigration will have an effect, but it is about managing it. People who move and contribute to the community are always going to be more than welcome, whether that is working or spending money its all the same. 2nd homes and air bnb are the real problem for most coastal towns.

Plenty of evidence now of English people feeling unwelcomed. They will move out and not return and with it their imput to the local economy which in north Wales is almost 100% in areas. They might not be liked, their language hated but their money is accepted everytime. Strange how homes on bnb arent advertised in Welsh air bnb

| Welsh independence on 19:49 - Jul 15 by Catullus | It's even more of a mix than that. There was a major DNA survey a while back, what the Romans did for us was ensure that most of us modern Welsh are actually about 60% not Welsh. Many of us have a lot of Hispanic and Gallic blood, thank Macsen Wledig for that, him and his VI Legion Ferrata from Gaul, they probably spread many seeds about. Kilky says English immigration is bad, honesty for once, he hates the English, they are bad for Wales he says. I have to ask then, why is large scale immigration from anywhere else OK? Won't this put strain on housing and water down the language with tongues non of us speak? You either accept immigration or you don't, treat everyone the same, you can't discriminate, unless you are bigoted in some way I guess. |

Yes, Central and Northern English are distinctly different to Welsh people but that's not the whole story. it doesn't meam Welsh people are 100% Welsh just that we have a DNA make up of a different mix. http://www.khazaria.com/geneti In fact, that link is trying to spin it a certain way but if you look South, people of Cornwall are also distinctly different to Northern and Central English. Then again, people in North Wales are relatively dinstinct from South Walians. Do you remember Angharad Mair? her maternal lineage is from the Levante, Eastern Mediteranean. We are ALL residents of planet Earth, a mixture of peoples and cultures from across the globe. There is no pure blood race and we can be what we want to be in so many ways these days but we cant change our own DNA.

How very "Darre" he! There's plenty of Blut on Welsh Boden too, I wonder if Trampie thinks only Welsh people are good enough to own Welsh farms? Or is it like Kilky, anyone is welcome as long as they're not English?

Evidence from who? I've had 3 houses moved into by English retirees by me in the last couple years. They all seem quite happy and haven't moved back yet. Obviously there will be some cases where people don't get on, but i would like to think for the most part it is completely overblown. Like i said if people want to live here they are more than welcome, its the 2nd homes and short term rentals that are killing off communities.

Again that's just you foisting Welshness on people. We have friends from Portsmouth, they live, love and work in Wales but they are English and proud of it, the father very much so. So how do you match that up? it's complete hypocrisy when taken with your other posts about English people too.

Caught out. Look at any welsh indy material, like Scotland it always outward looking, engaging, progressive, and generous. A modern civic nationalism. ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡º Contrast with the Brit nat ‘little Englander’ nationalism that despises foreigners, the celtic nations, the European nations, and believes in superiority, entitlement and exceptionalism. Its ugly. 🇬🇧💩 If you cant see the difference, then i cant help you.

I can only assume tbat you yourself are an immigrant and English is not your first language. An English person moving to a country other than England is an immigrant. Thats not my words. Its a fact. Not an expat, an immigrant. Moving for all sorts of reasons - social, economic, political, cultural, various other…. Just like the immigrants that the Johnson regime wants to send to Rwanda really …. 🤷â€â™‚ï¸ If anyone moves into wales and they live, work and contribute to welsh life then they are entitled to be welsh. Ours is an inclusive civic nationalism. Obviously their choice in the end, of course. Many might have dual nationality. Welsh nationalism is a broad church and many choose to contribute in their own ways. Liz Saville-Roberts is a great and positive high profile example. The contrast with Johnson and Mogg could not be clearer. Pick a side.

A British person moving to another part of Britain is not an immigrant. Glad to see you changed you're choice of words now though and used "entitled" which is Ok.
