| Welsh independence on 07:38 - Jul 14 by johnlangy | You are definitely right about young people kj. It's only going one way. Roll on the glorious day. |
He's right, really? Have you not noticed the demgraphics changing, qute quickly too. Wales has an ageing population, young people are leaving and being replaced by retirees. That s quite possibly why the indy movement is gaining more ground. In another 25 years there will be more Rnglish than Welsh in Wales, our young people wth ambition will have made better lives for themselves elsewhere. It's happening now. My son, at 13 years old is already saying he wants to leave. He has Spain in mind. At 13 years old he already sees his future away from Wales. You indy types need to think on that, the way this country is being run is driving young people away. Blame Westminster all you like but 20 years of devolution and where are we?

The economic opportunities in wales today should have been built on the huge wealth of coal and the heavy industries. Vision and investment missing. Ambition missing. London centric thinking never considers Wales. Blaming Cardiff Bay is like blaming john toshack for England winning the world cup in 1966. You got the wrong man. Annibyniaeth is a direct consequence of the continued failure in Westmonster to do the right thing for Wales. How much evidence do you need that they dont care a toss ? We need a different way forward and Annibyniaeth offers us that.

Should we send these migrants to Rwanda ? Apparently its all the rage in mighty England ? Modern Cymru is an inclusive nationalism (not an ethnic nationalism) so if you live, work and love in Wales, then you are Welsh. Refugees are welcome here.

You can't turn the clock back or replace that which was lost decades ago though. it's nothing like blaming Tosh because he was never in charge of England or the World cup, it's a bizarre choice of words really. Tell me, what in the Senedd's decisions is making Wales better? Are they building the infrastructure? No, they have said no more roads. Are they improving schools, health care and living conditions? NO, they are instead spending many millions on reducing speed limits that cannot possibly be policed, they are spending many millions on increasing their number and they are spending vastly more millions on PFI schemes that double the bills. Despite all the claims, the indy movement hasn't grown. They are the noisy minority. When these people grow up and realise the truth they move away from indy, just like I did. When I was 20 I was all for indy but as I matured I could see the problem with it and those problems are massively grown by an incompetent, Cardiff centric Senedd. The Senedd is just a mini version of Westminster but even worse. They lavish money on Cardiff and tell the lie that a vibrant, growing capital city will see the wealth spread across Wales. has that happened in England? Will Wrexham or Bala ever see any trickle down from Cardiff? No. Even here, just 35 miles away we will not see any trickle down from Cardiff. That absurd notion, the ideology of Cardiff bays political nonentities is crippling Wales in the same way the North of England has suffered. What we need is Westminster to wake up, to act fairly for the whole UK. The Senedd though has taken an idea that has been shown to not work and foisted it on Wales too. Westminster was dumb but Wales has been dumber.

It is a top post Speak to somebody from Gwynedd ,a world away from the "wealth" of S/EWales. Wales is most definately split and not just language wise although English is still seen as the language of the oppressor. Not sure if that is reason enough for it to snare one's whole being.

What has Westminsters decison about Rwanda got to do with a debate about Welsh indy? More mindless deflection Kilky, totally transparent. Modern Wales eh, I am Welsh AND British, as I've told you before us Welsh are the original Britons so we ARE British. I was born in Mumbles, I have lived and worked and loved in Wales for the vast majority of my life and I am Welsh and British. When did this ever become about refugees? Apart from, I suppose, saying that while you will welcome people from all over the world here, it's only as long as they aren't English! Answer me this, Spartacus, when did the debate about Welsh indy become about immigration? What has immigartion got to do with it? Deabte the points at hand an stop trying to cover up your nonsense with deflection. PS, go and ask any refugee who lives here, works here and loves here if they are Welsh. Not many will say Yes in just the same way as if I became a refugee and went to Spain or Australia I wouldn't claim to be Spanish or Aussie.

Born in Mumbles eh ? Very nice, most people who support the Swansea were brought up in the big post war council estates. Mumbles is more Swansea rugby really. Well if you were born in Mumbles, then you are welsh and thats that. Immigration into wales, at a large scale from England usually, can threaten the heartlands of our language and culture. Locals priced out. Immigration into England poses no such threat. Cymru is a nation of sanctuary and i am delighted about that. Refugees in need of safety, very welcome of course. Its a bit rich that the English are deporting poor people to Rwanda, whilst they trample into Wales. Live, work, and love in Wales. Then you are welsh. How do you manage to speak to so many refugees that you know how they think ? Remarkable insight fair play.

90% of the families in the south Wales Coal fields are as a result of English, Scottish and Irish moving into the ares during the industrial revolution. Before that South Wales was a sparsely populated farming area. The total population in Wales in 1801 was around 500,000 so very few of todays Welsh population are totally Welsh. This is why the anti British ferling is silly most of us are a genetic mixture of many genes from throughout the UK .

It's even more of a mix than that. There was a major DNA survey a while back, what the Romans did for us was ensure that most of us modern Welsh are actually about 60% not Welsh. Many of us have a lot of Hispanic and Gallic blood, thank Macsen Wledig for that, him and his VI Legion Ferrata from Gaul, they probably spread many seeds about. Kilky says English immigration is bad, honesty for once, he hates the English, they are bad for Wales he says. I have to ask then, why is large scale immigration from anywhere else OK? Won't this put strain on housing and water down the language with tongues non of us speak? You either accept immigration or you don't, treat everyone the same, you can't discriminate, unless you are bigoted in some way I guess.

Most people who support the Swans come from all demographics. Went to Bishop Gore school. Loads of lads from Mumbles as well as Townhill boys and Brynmill/Uplands supported the Swans. Sketty Park Herberts ,yes Sketty Park but I've no doubt there were guys from the wealthier parts also. Bridge Boys, Sandfields...hardly council house areas. Mansleton, Cwmbrla etc etc. Great support St Thomas area ...I could go on. Yes Clase, Portmead, Penlan fantastic support. The difference between Swansea and Cardiff is we have support from all our City.

It would be interesting if Kilkie did a DNA Ancestry to see exactly his heritage. I just wonder what it would say going back through the generations. I know several who thought they were 100% Welsh only to be amazed at the truth.

Which part of Wales is Kilkenny? Asking for a mate of course 🙂 Anyway worked in Aberystwyth today. Drove through Carmarthen, Lampeter etc. Stunning drive especially the coast line into Aber. Loads of Welsh bunting going through the various towns . Now this beautiful landscape makes me really proud to be Welsh (I'm half Welsh, half loads of stuff) and I always extoll the virtues of my country. So I arrive at my destination and what greets me, someone with a South Waleian accent. No doubt diluting the Welsh housing language etc. Incidentally heard no Welsh speaking at all in Aber today. Must be those pesky Brummies :)
