| Welsh independence on 16:45 - Jul 3 by Catullus | In Scotland they have a pro indy government pushing a line that still doesn't have majority support. In Wales our government, our elected leader has said that there is no hope of indy though he will talk about it. Remember Drakeford asking the uestion, what currency would we use? That was his reason for being pro union just to start with, before going any deeper. I'm sure everybody on the AUOB mailing list knew all about the march, it was on the WOL too. It is still true, more people in Wales voted tory than support an indy Wales. |
Rubbish. Drakers playing the Medium term game. Already said the tired old Westmonster union needs reform. He has set up his new Commission featuring Rowan and Prof Laura. He has done a deal with Plaid in senedd. Changed his title from First Minister to Prime Minister (in welsh). If you cant see the direction of travel i cant help you. Welsh labour will become real welsh Labour, not Labour in Wales. And soon. SNP have a clear mandate. Have you been asleep ? Are you the welsh Rip Van Winkle ?

I went to the march and I didn't receive any mail about the march prior to it. I'm not a Labour voter but their is a clear divide between London and Welsh Labour the announced senedd expansion is a clear statement. I caught the opening of the Bevan heritage centre today in Tredegar our mp and Ms were present, I was informed and surprised to be told that our Ms is willing to listen to the independence idea and more surprised to hear his daughter is a yes cymru member. As more people in wales voting Tory than for independence, a lot has changed recently with events in Westminster, this has seen people reevaluate there voting habits.

Are you confusing the eu with Europe ? There is no automatic right for eu citizens to work in the U.K. anymore and the same for U.K. citizens to work in the eu.. British football teams play in European competitions not eu competitions. You obviously don’t know the difference.

Drakeford has said that the Uk needs reform but that Wales is best off staying in the Union. he has said it several times. Hs new commission is a talking shop with no powers. He did a deal because he didn't have a majority without Plaid. he couldn't guarantee getting what he wanted through the Senedd so he sold his soul to Price. FAO BGJ, if you didn't get an email then how did you know about the march? It must have been advertised. If they weren't telling people about it directly, there must have been advertising. Or are all indy supporters psychic too?

The UK in its present form is finished end of. Got to laugh at some on here talking about politicians selling their soul to get humane policies through the senedd, like free school meals for hungry children and totally supportive of what's happening in Westminster over the last 24 hrs.

See this is the problem, most of the policies that Plaid had in their agreement with Labour are good. But yet some are so blinkered by party politics they hate anything the other side does. Can they really say they are completely against policies like school meals and tighter 2nd home regulations?

I wonder who you're referring to when you describe some as being blinkered. You must realise one of the reasons why families in Wales have to rely on free school meals is the dearth of decent well paid jobs . Something which falls under the emit of the Senedd but which has failed to deliver, time after time. Second homes are the new target but when you have a "government " so obsessed with us purely being recognised as tourist destination then cry because the very people they want to visit are then treated as pariahs,. We have good agricultural land being turned over to tree planting or rewilding , this to appease the eco warriors of which there are plenty and too many in powerful positions .

There are a huge number of reasons why Wales is poor, both the Senedd and Westminster are responsible. Blinkered in the way people cannot see that those two policies clearly benefit the people of Wales. (Ignoring circumstances if you believe it is the senedd fault, providing the school meals is still good for the children). As for the repurposing of agricultural land, I dont agree with it and think it is a bad move.

yes there are huge reasons , and yes we have Tory national government who have been poor in all aspects of Welsh life and then we have a sitting Labour Welsh government who have many devolved powers and still no improvement in living standards , so who exactly is is to blame . Wales has a large potion of monies provided by Westminster which is then spent by Cardiff so does Westminster audit how the money is spent , no it doesn't, Wales has its own audit office, which can recommend or highlight deficiencies on many subjects all of which are under the Senedds control for example the new school curriculum which is being rolled out in September and with it a short fall of money which it estimated it would cost . is that Westminster's fault or the fault of those who are employed as "experts" to cost such matters . There are many examples of money wasted by Westminster but that shouldn't detract from the fact that our lot have been as equally negligent when it comes to spending tax payers money.

Except your ignorance shines through … Not to mention a fair market price for water and energy. Where is our share of HS2 like Scotland and the north of Ireland ? Avoiding An increasing national debt which is inevitable as part of broken Britain Plus huge savings from ending military spending. Economic boost by rejoining EU like Scotland and the north of Ireland.
