We don't have enough about us to stand as a country. Honestly, Europe dont want us anymore, they've shown they never liked us and were a bit jealous all along. Trying to cosy back up to them is like some weird fantasy that they,re not gong to be such cuts next time.

Where is our share of HS2 like Scotland and the north of Ireland ? Avoiding An increasing national debt which is inevitable as part of broken Britain Plus huge savings from ending military spending. Economic boost by rejoining EU like Scotland and the north of Ireland. |
as does yours , you must have missed the part where says "floating" . not sure you can charge rent ( actually when it comes to wind farms its a lease) when the turbines keeps bobbing and moving about in the sea .

| Welsh independence on 22:46 - Jul 6 by Boundy | yes there are huge reasons , and yes we have Tory national government who have been poor in all aspects of Welsh life and then we have a sitting Labour Welsh government who have many devolved powers and still no improvement in living standards , so who exactly is is to blame . Wales has a large potion of monies provided by Westminster which is then spent by Cardiff so does Westminster audit how the money is spent , no it doesn't, Wales has its own audit office, which can recommend or highlight deficiencies on many subjects all of which are under the Senedds control for example the new school curriculum which is being rolled out in September and with it a short fall of money which it estimated it would cost . is that Westminster's fault or the fault of those who are employed as "experts" to cost such matters . There are many examples of money wasted by Westminster but that shouldn't detract from the fact that our lot have been as equally negligent when it comes to spending tax payers money. |
I'm not going to argue that Welsh Labour are brilliant, I never have. But in my opinion a Conservative Westminster government is worse.

A simple like for like comparison gives you the answer there though and all the comparable measures show Wales is worse. Where I agree with Drakeford is, the whole country needs a radical change. We don't need devolved governments, we need regional governmemts where funding is provided by exactly the same criteria across the board. Then we need regions to co-operate on border issues between regions. Motorways should have their own national agency responsible for all works/upgrading. Same for trains which should be re-nationalised. Utilities should be re-nationalised too but run on tight contracts related to performance but where profits are put back in to give fair pay rises and infrastructure investment.

I wont disagree that Wales is poor and mismanaged. I think that too. But in regard to your second point about radical change I cannot see anything of the sort happening with a UK government, especially if it were to be a conservative one. This is all my opinion, but I think there is more chance of change like what you have mentioned in an Independent Wales.

My big worry there is that we will become over run by politicians, run by committee if you like. We haven't even got full powers in the Senedd but they are increasing their number by over 30%, how many will they take on if we went indy? If they cannot adequately manage the powers they have now, how will they manage with full powers? We think we are heavily taxed by Westminster, just wait and see.

Even if the event took place on the farm they bought, why are the people of Wales paying out to save a music festival? That's criminal in itself. That they have bought the wrong place is laughable, unless there is something we don't know?

After it came out the the festival was held on the Glan Usk estate, they said they'd bought the farm as biodiversity and sustainability farming project, and to protect 174 jobs. Meanwhile back In the Senedd, when quizzed about the uncertainty, Mr Gething shocked fellow Welsh MPs by admitting the company had not yet submitted a business plan. As I've said, there should be an independent enquiry into this, but of course, Drakeford only likes enquiries into the actions of Westminster.

Livestock farmer Chris Alford is Gilestone Farm's next-door neighbour. His farm was actually part of Gilestone when he bought it 20 years ago, but it is now separate. He says he is unhappy with this sale, and feels that public money could have been better spent on improving public services in rural parts of Wales. Although the Welsh Government have not made a comment, it is thought that the farm will still keep some sustainable farming and maintain efforts to tackle climate change. So does this give Chris some peace of mind? "Not really, no," he said. "The word is that it will be kept as a working farm, but that it will employ 174 people. But what are they going to be doing? Gilestone can only really sustain two full-time working people. So it makes me wonder, what are their intentions?" Don't we all , well those who have the ability to think rather than just follow . The money that paid for the farm is believed to have come from the Ministry for Climate Change , not sure why Vaughn Gethin on being questioned as to why the farm was purchased stated it was to protect the Green Man festival whose owners knew nothing of the purchase nor had any intentions of moving from its current location. Could it be something else is stirring on the farm

If you walked into the "Dragon's Den" (tv show) and put forward a bid but didn't have a plan, they laugh you out of there. That's the answer, we need Peter Jones, Debra Meaden and Touker Suleyman to be put in charge. Then we'd have logical, business thinking running Wales. What we have now is illogical, negligent and self serving ideology.

The people in Wales are paying out to save a pointless airport and an events venue resembling a dog turd in Cardiff Bay. At least a music festival may be capable of breaking even one day.

There were proposals to cut air duty etc and make Cardiff airport cheaper and in turn through greater numbers more profitable. This was obviously vetoed by UK gov who Im guessing would love the airport to close. Not having an airport would be dire in our standing as a Country. You lot on here don't half work yourselves up about Welsh indy mind you. Its a shame none of you are as passionate about the crooks in UK government.

and its a pity that you appear to ignore the failings of cardiff because Westminster is worse , even though as pointed out many times that Cardiff have devolved powers on which have a direct impact on the lives of the people of Wales but because Boris & co bend the rules all that's ignored. An airport which is situated in possibly the worst location serving the needs of a few but not all . I wonder have you been on the M4 lately particularly around Newport . yes the nasty Westminster lot put a kebosh on upgrading on the main transport link into s Wales , or sorry I forgot, after spending 40 million+ on a feasibility study Drukeford decided it wasn't going to be built, then over spent on the heads of the valleys road which is little used except for local traffic and the odd Brummy coming down for his annual hols (that's another story in its self) and which now has slower speed limit then the original road network. If you think how Wales is being run atm as template for independence then you're a fool .

You Unionist lot are hilarious, not once have i said that the Senedd is perfect, or even good. I will criticise them where i think they deserve it. The M4 relief road was always going to be a non starter and was a pointless initiative. Maybe i am a fool, who knows, but wanting your own country to control its own affairs is not a radical idea. Absolute farce and black comedic surreal. Many people know of em i.e. the idiots that preside over government/local government mismanagement, Whitehall farce(s), bumbling civil service ineptitude, ill planned out military disasters where soldiers turn up without proper kit/supplies and any cohesive plans because someone in an office did not even think of any etc. etc. "Thick educated fools" who would never in a million years become a high-flyer in a "intelligent educated scholar" real-world e.g. FTSE listed company! Could never imagine those idiots thriving in any place where intelligence, ingenuity, forward planning competence, problem solving, accomplishment and results are a must.

Never said nor intimated I was a Unionist , I'm just not blinkered unlike so many such as yourself , you pay lip service to the faults of our lot but full on when it comes to central government , would that be because of its location ?. Interesting point you made about the M4 , just why would it be be a "non starter and pointless initiative" ? without it the nations growth has and will continue to stagnate and you're happy with that ? and if was as pointless as you believe why then did the Senedd waste all that money on its feasibility study , I can't see you complaining about that obscene waste of tax payers money .
