The degree is a gateway, if you have the right qualities and experience you can be a director with any degree. I know someone who holds an extremely position high position in a multinational financial institution with a degree in history.
Matt Hancock has a degree in economics, did that qualify him for the role of a Health Secretary and Michael Gove a degree in journalism?

You are saying that as if I was the one that made the point that a degree in history qualifies you for a directorship of an oil company.

I think it’s fairly clear what got him the gig, right?

Or are we still pretending otherwise?

I love the fact people think he wrote up his CV and the Ukrainian oil firm said “hey there is a guy here that has a degree in history and law, shall we get him on board?” .... “Yes he sounds perfect Oleg bring him in”.

There is plenty out there from reputable sources to say the investigation in to the Russia allegations identified substantial issues and 34 individuals were indicted. Mueller never exonerated Trump but never said he should be prosecuted either. Barr’s decision making documentation was released, but it was heavily redacted and efforts are being made to secure to full release and we may get a better idea of what happened in due course.

Using state institutions to go after a political opponent..... I’d expect the State to investigate serious allegations which potentially undermine democracy and government, I’d also expect the investigation to be transparent, devoid of bias and political manipulation, we may know more about that when the Durham report is completed.

So the Tories should have set the secret service on to Jeremy Corbyn and bugged he and his staff during that election...because of course, plenty of people were concerned about serious allegations involving his past support of terrorist groups and his links to enemy states.
That would have been the right thing to do would it?

Do you know who is undermining democracy and government? The Democrats.
Most Americans have serious doubts about that last election. It is unique in the history of American electionsfor the way it defied all norms.
There are eyewitness accounts of all kinds of shenanigans.
Thousands of people have signed affidavits alleging that they witnessed corruption.

...and do the Democrats say; 'Yeah! Let's have an audit, we'll help you to organise it, we'll have input from both sides and get to the bottom of what happened...and you'll look silly and bitter and prove to be everything we said you were...then our vote share will go up at future elections as we will have proved that the Republican party has been kidnapped by far-right conspiracy theorist nut jobs!!!".

Do they hell as like. They know that they stole that election and they will do anything, anything to avoid scrutiny.

....and before the usual idiots reply with "they did audits and went to court etc."
None of the 'Audits' were genuine. They were all just recounts of the same fraudulent ballots. An audit is forensic, it analyses the material presented, it doesn't just accept the material presented as correct...and the court cases were kicked out on technicalities, the evidence was never given a hearing.

Clarence Thomas dissented;
https://www.judicialwatch.org/

...but you see, the Democrats had threatened to pack the Supreme Court to get the results they wanted 100% of the time, and they still hold that threat over the Supreme Court today.

These people are criminals.

The degree is the gateway and he wouldn’t have to have technical knowledge etc to become a director in the company. I’d agree with you that it’s possible some of his other qualities may have influenced decision making re his appointment - it’s something that happens all the time and not just in the States.

Absolutely Major, when Allan Leighton appointed Adam Crozier to run the Royal Mail, what were his qualifications and experience? Actually what were Leightons? Where was his experience in the sector?

My ignored list is about to grow again because there's yet another who calls everything he disagrees with lies and everything he agrees with is the nailed on truth.

Those court cases that were thrown out, what I read about them was the technicality was no evidence just purely allegations.
Those eye witness accounts, no real evidence just allegations.

When Trump supporters invaded Capitol Hill we watched it live on tv after having watched Trump make a speech instructing them to march yet all we had was stories that they weren't Trump fans but pretenders trying to make Trump look bad.

It's beyond the pale and is either a bunch of loonies or trolls on a wind up.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Qualities? Benefits of what family be belongs to you mean?

Let's be honest here, if Hunter's surname was Jones and had 10 degrees in history... he still wouldn't be on the board of a Ukrainian oil firm.

There is literally no need to pretend otherwise. Call it as it is.

You are both right and very wrong. We have thousands of history and other 'liberal arts' degrees most of which are used for entry into other areas. Most people use these degrees as a gateway whether to the city, government or McDonald's. If you read medicine one veterinary science you are likely to become a doctor of a vet, but beyond vocational degrees in health or areas like engineering it is just a qualification to a level.

Very few directors come from vocational backgrounds and family and connections are, as you suggest, the key to a huge number of appointments. There is often no meritocracy and plenty of nepotism. However most will have a degree in a 'nice' subject like History or English which leave you plenty of time to do other things.

Look at the Cabinet. How many of them have degrees associated with their portfolio? Beyond Robert Buckland in justice (who is a Barrister) and sensibly Wallace the Defence Secretary (ex-officer and worked for QinetiQ), the others are the usual PPE, Law, English and two with physics degrees (in non science portfolios).

That's my point in it's entirety. Not sure what is classed as wrong, about anything I have said, let alone 'very' so.

Saying someone has a qualification in history so he is 'qualified' to be a director on the board of a fossil fuel company in Ukraine is not accurate. It is not a qualification necessary for the role. JvZ was a director at Swansea for example, he bought his way there, no qualification necessary.

Most directorships of large publicly listed companies that are hired externally require experience, 20+ years as a rule of thumb.

Pretending Hunter Biden got his position on the board of a Ukrainian fossil fuel company because of his history degree is both fanciful and ridiculous. Its a charade that I have no idea why people play. As I said, just call it as it is.

34 individuals indicted.
What you fail to mention is the cases were dropped for lack of evidence, but not only that, one company indicted didn't even exist when the offence was supposed to have taken place.
The only evidence presented to the court was a download of thousands of emails supposedly affecting the election.
Except they were all in Russian.
I pointed to the actual court data at the time and you all ignored it.
I have pointed out many times that you can go on to the court websites and read the official record, but you all prefer to use the incomplete data from the mass media.

The Bidenists will of course have absolutely no idea what this means. As will he he.

Was always going to be the case.

I made a post in November where I said I think Biden will win due to the relentless media narrative, the economy will crash and people will long for the non democrat rioting days of the Trump administration. I absolutely stand by that and believe it is, and will, come to fruition.

Your average laymen votes economically. If they have an abundance of food on the table, petrol in their car, family clothed and housed and some cash in the bank. This is what was happening like never never before under the Trump administration.

It’s a stark reality to wake up to double petrol prices, cars up 30%, groceries up 5%, meat nearly up 20% and local transport up nearly 20%. They aren’t small increases, they are crippling.

Trump will run again in 2024 and win, the people will no longer want to be skint and led by someone who they see on the TV who can barely string a sentence together, not an exaggeration. Confidence will be shredded.

Trump went to the UFC last week, the narrative in the media towards Dana White was “he could face an awful lot of booing, how will he deal with it”.... needless to say the crowd (of all genders and races, have to stipulate that these days) went nuts. Can you imagine Biden walking in and getting that same response?

Neither can I.
