Prime Minister Johnsons Christmas Party 2020 on 09:28 - Dec 8 by majorraglan
Mmm, looks like someone has supplied the evidence to ITN.
Boris caught out again, a party at 10 Downing Street with booze, food, presents etc while millions were observing the Tier 3 restrictions in place at the time and unable to be with loved ones, some of whom were dying in hospitals.
Reports of Ministers pulling out of interviews this morning because they don’t want to face questions regarding the party and Boris’s behaviour, Boris has previously denied any breaches and yesterday refused to answer questions about this matter. Hw can a PM just refuse to answer questions and get away with it?
Javid should have been doing major interviews today to promote the booster programme but he’s pulled the plug on the lot because of this party debacle.
Boris’s actions are indefensible.
Quite right ðŸ‘ðŸ¾

I haven’t read the whole thread yet so apologies if this has already been discussed but there are a few things that stand out for me. Whenever a story like this breaks I always find it fascinating to wonder about the political machinations behind it, who is leaking it and why. So with that in mind:
1) someone somewhere has been sitting on this footage for almost a year. That is an exceptionally long time to be holding on to an unexploded political bombshell by any measure.
B) Pretty much the only people with access to or knowledge of that footage were the handful of government aides present in the room at the time. You may get the odd cameraman or sound engineer but I’d doubt they’d have actual access to the recordings. This is not the first footage held onto and then leaked. Remember the footage of Matt Hancock playing tonsil tennis in his office?
5) Several journalists from a number of very well known organisations and publications were said to actually have attended these parties so they would have known about all of this as a primary source but it’s taken them a year to report on it.
In conclusion it seems to me that this has been leaked by someone at the very heart of government. I believe there is a real concerted effort to bring the government down from within. All is not well. Honestly I hope they succeed. It also highlights the overly intimate, symbiotic and cosy relationship between number ten and the “journalists” (and I use that term loosely) who are supposed to be holding them to account. The whole thing is corrupt to the core. We need a better mechanism to remove these incorrigible delinquent chiselers from office. A general election once every five years is not enough.

I think this is the beginning of the end for Johnson. His own MPs are fed up.
It’s also quite telling that he’s not been defended on here. Normally by now someone would have popped up with “But Diane Abbot had a mojito on a train 3 years ago!” or something along those lines.
It’s been remarkably quiet. Coming so close to the Owen Patterson scandal maybe it is indefensible.
And to think the Pen Farthing stuff is still lurking in the wings….

It’s not just Johnson though. It’s the whole bloody lot of them. Whether it’s expenses or doing favours for mates, giving high paid jobs to family members or sniffing cocaine in the Parliament bogs, Boris is just the tip of the iceberg.

Tories have always been ruthless in moving leaders on, Sunak will be lined up in good time for the next election.
Boris has cause the Tories immense damage. Ive spoken to few who voted Conservative last election but right now they would not vote for a party led by Johnson. He has to go and he will-eventually
What an utter, utter clown. The sooner he announces Plan C the better, and that is he and his cronies ship out and leave us alone. My god they have no shame, no self awareness, they don't even care. Thousands have died and suffered under his watch. You couldn't even make this up, they are openly taking the p***. And many are blaming the people who choose not be vaccinated, take a look at those who were in charge from day one, direct your anger towards them, maybe, negligence of the highest order. One rule for us, another for them. The hypocrisy is unbelievable.

It's a tipping point for me. We all know Bojo is a liar, we've all seen the "do as I say not as I do" attitude. The shambles with Cummings was bad enough whatwith Bojo sticking up for him and then Cummings shafting him.
This is different though. It's not just the government themselves, it's civil servants too. They are not fit for purpose and this is what having a total buffoon for PM gets you. The poison has spread from the top. Allegra Stratton and everybody in that video should be sacked in disgrace. Then Bojo should apologise and call a General election for January.
Let the people judge him.
He won't though, he'll try and bluster and bullschitt through this like he does with everything.
Now Starmer needs to step up and take control of the situation, this is his moment. He could land decisive blows if only he has the will.
There's more go in flat Lemonade than in Starmer, he's like a limp lettuce. Regarding Boris the review/ enquiry is gonna be carried out in house, which is ridiculous

Hopefully the evidence will emerge but the Met looks like an arm of the Tory party tonight. BBC nobbled. Judges under attack. Journalists tame. EU nobbled.
None of this is good.

And should set the standard.
Well yes and no. Of course as prime minister he should lead by example but there should be a bare minimum standard for such a privileged and important position as an MP anyway. The behaviour has always been bad but lately it’s been beyond diabolical. We have a government that has been lurching from scandal to scandal without any consequences whatsoever. We have a serving MP who has recently been convicted for harassment including threatening someone with acid. 11 out of 12 toilets in the MP only areas were absolutely laced with the white stuff (I mean Cocaine, not semen, but I’m sure there’ll be loads of that too.)
It should be an absolute National scandal the way they are all behaving. The speaker should be reading them the riot act. This is unacceptable. They should all be sacked.

Some great points, unfortunately MP’s generally tend to be policed by themselves or their advisors and get away with a great deal, the Patterson saga even saw Boris try to weaken the existing accountability framework. What we need is regulators with real power who can uphold standards and hold people to account.

is this good news for Labour?
Well for them to get back in, they'll need seats off the SNP and over 40 off the Tories, so not a chance in hell.
I see the Teflon PM getting away with it and winning the next election
If Starmer can't make serious headway even now then he needs to step down and see if someone with more drive can do something.
Where are the political heavyweights to challenge these clowns? The only thing heavyweight about our elected representatives now is their gobs which spew endless amounts lies and obfuscations.

Its a fair point.
The likes of Dominic Grieve would have been ten times better than these half wits. Liz Truss and Raab ffs.
Get into them Labour, now is your moment.
