Russia invade Ukraine 14:17 - Dec 23 with 151368 viewsFlynnidine_Zidownes

Discuss.

Also why is Putin always described in the media as this rugged strongman? He’s barely five foot tall with his high heels on.

But that’s another debate.

Why is Drakers a clown ?, we know why Boris is a clown, he lies and he changes his mind like the weather.

Drakeford is just incompetent you only have to look at his and Labour's performance after 20 years of power, NHS in Wales worst performing in UK, education just as bad this is despite huge annual subsidies from the UK government.

That is because the UK government doesn't give Wales enough money, any properly functioning state should divert money to the areas of that state that need it most but the English led UK government don't give Wales the money it should have.
The Barnett formula is not fit for purpose, it's creator has apparently admitted as much and said it considered population and not need.
Wales has been done and is being given crumbs off the table, Drakers (or whoever does the job) is fighting with one hand tied behind his back.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

Commies and fascists go hand in hand...anyone who understands History knows that.

Mussolini and the Fascists grew out of Socialism.
It is no coincidence that Germany's Fascists were called the 'National Socialists'.
European 'Fascists' and the 'Communists' (Marxist socialists) of the Soviet Union essentially believe the same thing...that the State owns everything.

What characterises the West is a belief in freedom.
What guarantees freedom?
The rights of the individual enshrined in law.
Where did we get the idea that the rights of the individual were sacred?
We got it from our Judeo-Christian tradition where the idea that human life is sacred and that humans are 'God's' greatest creation, that we have a higher purpose.

There can be no form of socialism, Communism, Fascism etc. whilst the rights of the individual are enshrined in law...as the State needs to be able to compel people against their will; "For the greater good".

This is why the Left has to attack all institutions which stands for the rights of the individual. In Europe this all started with the French revolution. In order to remove the tyrannical king and destroy the institution of Monarchy the people had to rebel against the false idea that their King was blessed by God. Once this mental barrier had been broken this led to;

- a sustained attack on the Church and Christianity
- the elevation of rights over responsibilities
- an attack on male/female relationships in order to break apart the nuclear family
- the division of peoples who had previously been unified on their traditional beliefs, who bought into the ideas that had emanated from Christianity and had percolated throughout our populations over centuries...in order to get them to accept the new ideas, the new morality.
- attacks on institutions steeped in Judeo-Christian culture
- attacks on law and order
- attacks on the US Constitution
etc.

You will see these themes in Socialist run countries and the Fascist states of the early 20th century.
The only difference between them is cosmetic.

Socialists divide and destroy based on class/income.
Nazis divide and destroy based on race/genes.
Both of them divide and destroy in the name of the greater good, in the name of the State.
Both of them seized the means of production and destroyed individuals rights under the law.
Both of them persecuted minorities and religion.
Both of them corrupted their populaces, turned people into degenerates, commanded them to do fundamentally immoral acts in the name of the greater good...like fecking Trudeau and co.

You do realise that Hitler blamed the communists for the attack on the Reichstag and thus stated a campaign against them, not much agreement there. In fact the Nazi's were seen as ANTI Communist.

Many different groups can have some similar beliefs, it doesn't make them the same thing.

They might do the same things, as dictators are dictators whtever their beliefs but it doesn't make them the same.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Russia has ordered troops into two breakaway regions of eastern Ukraine run by Moscow-backed separatists
It comes after President Vladimir Putin recognised the two breakaway regions in Donetsk and Luhansk as independent
Russia says the troops will perform "peacekeeping functions", which the US has said is "nonsense".
The US has imposed sanctions against the rebel territories, banning US citizens from any new investment, trade or finance there
In a fiery televised speech on Monday, Putin argued Ukraine has no history of being a true nation
Ukraine's President Zelensky, in his own late-night speech, said Ukraine is not afraid and will not yield anything to anyone

American and British networks hardly covered the speech, more shame them, I followed what was being translated online and knew what was coming as it was straight from the horse's mouth, slow news and propoganda from our main media outlets unfortunately.

They had an election in the Ukraine and the pro-Russia party won...Clinton/Obama/Biden then removed that elected government, they ordered the CIA to instigate a colour revolution.
They have led the Ukraine to this point and they could call it off today by sitting down with Russia and agreeing that Ukraine will forever remain a neutral country on Russia's border...in return they could ask for concessions in the East of Ukraine, some kind of devolved government.
Crimea will be off the table though as it is too important to Russia and has always been an important Russian military base.

Comparing it to the UK was perfectly apt. If the UK broke apart...let's say Scotland left, and then Scotland started making moves to join a military alliance with our enemies, whilst simultaneously taking our energy and not paying for it...shit would get real, quick.

The leaders of the West are overgrown children who went to University and had their heads filled full of shit by deluded left-wing professors who have been proven wrong on everything for decades.
It's all just a game for them.
They don't understand that there are people out there in the World who are prepared to fight and die, even if it hurts them and their interests, for principles.

Russia will never accept NATO on their border in Ukraine...this is because we have not done anything to build any trust with them after the collapse of the Soviet Union, we continued to treat them like a mortal enemy, and because the Ukrainians who engaged in this colour revolution have destroyed Russia's trust in them also.

If you can't see things from your enemies perspective you are doomed to fail.
It's like Russell Martin sending out the team in the same formation with the same style of play, same instructions regardless of our opposition or our own current circumstances.
This is stupid.
If you want to defeat your enemy, or even just get a good result that you can live with, you have to first understand them

I bet Bojo cannot believe his luck as this whole episode yet again covers over and distracts away from his disgraceful lockdown party antics and his total mishandling of the pandemic.

Anyone noticed the news about the NHS going quietly by today? Thought not as even covid is second and third fiddle now to this 'crisis'.

This is where we are, at the worst possible time with the worst possible government led by the worst ever prime minister who has a complete and utter jackass as his foreign secretary.

Which part has rendered you speechless and again the most important part is, why?

Political discussion on here often consists of someone dumping a link, not explaining any of their thoughts and a person coming back with another link, then another link… etc etc

It becomes a battle of links to vague and broad things as opposed to specific and detailed political opinion that people can discuss.

If you can let us know what it is specifically you disagree with and, why…. Then people can respond. Otherwise it’s just another empty link.

I’m hoping to drag political discussion to a better level this year.

How do we know Putin's successor won't be even worse? How do we identify his successor?

This situation isn't down to Westminster, we are only a small part of the response and we did more than the whole EU to start with.

Macron's response was to suggest allowing Russia to pretty much have Ukraine by using the same solution that kept Finland "independent" from Russia, not a democratic choice.
Germany refused to let NATO send materiel to Ukraine, more worried about their gas supplies than defending democracy.

We don’t, but over the last few years we’ve seen what appear to be increasing numbers of aggressive acts by Russia and its allies. We’ve had the Salisbury incident, an explosion in the Czech Republic, the interception of a civilian aircraft. We’ve seen unrest in Belarus following an alleged dodgy election result and the annexation of parts of the Ukraine. Had it not been for the gas, I suspect there sanctions would have been much more draconian.

Did the West send troops in then? Did the people of Ukraine object to the change in government, or are they happy with it? It seems the latter is true because there was no unrest afterwards and they are rallying behind the current government too.

Democracy is the will of the people. if the people wanted a change, got that change and are happy with it, why should Russia be allowed to change it by military action? Military action that some on here seem to agree with.

Sorry but I'm struggling with the relevance of that to my post.

The suggestion was we should wait 10 years and negotiate with Putin's successor but how can we? How do we know he's be better and should we just let Russia have Ukraine in the meantime?

Russia has been getting more aggressive but some on here keep making excuses for them. They also seem to think criticisng Russia means you agree with every crappy thing our government or the USA does!
