He probably blindly votes the same way time after time (assuming he votes) without a second thought and cannot see the stupidity in that. He welcomes anybody into Wales as long as they aren't English. He's convinced himself Drakeford is for independence despite Drakeford clearly saying he isn't. He's blinkered, narrow minded, heck not even narrow, he's a closed mind. It's people voting exactly the same way no matter what that has delivered all our problems. The Tories and Labour have no need to change, to grow and develop better ideas because their sheep will always support them. People need to look at their choices, think about them and make the best choice not merely turn up and vote as they have always voted. They are actually more like the fabled Lemmings than Sheep. Even if Lemmings don't actually do what many think they do! I often (well mostly) disagree with Kerouac but his post on this looks accurate to me. |
Why anyone responds to him baffles me. The only people who will be spending money in Wales in the near future is tourists because we will have no industry left. Sure these idiot Indy types will love cleaning the bogs in some West Wales b&b of English guests.

They came to market with stock boxes held together with wire, houses in poor condition, Barns in a poor state of repair, battered vehicles, 25--30kg lambs, old tractors etc. Now they have newish vehicles, .any of them 60k range rovers, newish stock boxes, newish tractors and implements, nice houses, the kids have nice houses, holiday cottages and done up barns, 35-50kg lambs as can afford to feed them etc. They will.complain, but are 50 times better off these days. I should.know. |
Well I don't see them anymore and it's been 11 years since I was medically retired but the farmers I used to deliver too only fitted the worst of what you say, batterered vehicles, battered equipment, battered old cars, houses and barns that looked...battered! There are some rich farmers obviously and some know how to rinse the system.

Why would that be the case? Scotland, Wales and England would all be stupid if any of them were to stop freedom of movement and trade between themselves after Indy. It would be bad for all parties involved.

Scotland would inevitably end up back in the EU. They wouldn’t have any say on their border conditions under that scenario.

If Scotland and Wales went indy it depends on whether we joned the EU. Even if we applied to the EU it could take over a decade to be welcomed fully into their club. Assume we were, their rules would mean hard borders That in itself would be suicide for Wales. How much of our trade is with the EU (or was pre brexit) and how much is with the UK/England? This much of course, Drakeford knows. Drakeford says Westminster should give us more money but they could double the subsidy and he'd want more. He is running up bills he can't pay.

It certainly would be interesting to see what would happen. It would be suicide for any of the UK countries to completely cut themselves off. Would be North Korea Mk.2. I mean with Tories in Wesminster they are more than happy to let Wales and Scotland starve, neither will ever return any significant number of MPs for them. The way funding is worked out in the UK has been wrong for decades, nothing is ever funded on need. Which has left all of the countries in the absolute shambles they are now. That was the first thing Drakeford said when asked about indy. he said if we choose to use Sterling then we weren't independent as we'd be in thrall to Westminsters/BoE's financial policies. Besides, that particular legal argument rumbles on, Westminster repeats that Scotland couldn't use Sterling without Westminsters consent. We'll have to wait til it's legally sorted to know for sure.

Sturgeon kept saying they'd use Sterling. I guess the EU won't refuse them the Euro though. As long as they bow to some rules. That's when they finally go indy, however long that takes, it's another legality that needs sorting.

Its a piece of pish. Scotland will join the EU at record speed, just to pish off Brexit England. Scotland will take the Euro, like Ireland. The border issue will be sorted with France. Jobs a good one …. and Scotland will rise. ‘Beware the risen people’ …. ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿

Remind us again, what job are you employed in?
| |
| More Senedd madness on 06:12 - Jul 26 with 673 views | Dr_Winston | The Welsh population works out at about 5% of the total UK population so there's your baseline figure. 95% of DVLA staff would be redundant. That's about 4,500 people local to the Swansea area almost immediately jobless in the event of Welsh independence. Overall about 29,000 people in Wales are employed by Central Govt (HMRC, DWP, Passport Office, IPO etc). That doesn't include those employed by the WG, which equates to about 5,500. Even if we're generous and assume that 10% of those could be redeployed under any prospective Independent Senedd, you're talking at least 25,000 people redundant. [Post edited 26 Jul 2022 10:05]

Last time I looked the pound was worth 1.18 euro. Hypothetically, If Scotland used the euro would there then be parity in the value? The best thing Gordon Brown did was keep Sterling the currency of the UK.

They could unofficialyl use Stering but then Scotland would have no say on interest rates or borrowing or money supply. Hardly independent at all. If they ever meet the new financial criteria for joining the EU they would be forced to use the EURO, all NEW members have to. They would then be at the mercy of the Central European Bank, run by Germany and France and would have no say over interest rates . A bit like Greece who desperately need a currency with a much lower value to promote tourism. Again Scotland would not be independent. Fortunately the Majority of voters in Scotland know this snd support for independence is only around 45% the same as their once in a generation referendum.
