Unfortunately I feel, unless the media launch a campaign against this madness, it may go through, you would only need a week or so of the media targeting drakeford and his cronies, and they would back down. But I can't see it happening, the media know many are against it, but say nothing, and won't challenge them. The other alternative civil unrest, well that would have to be on a massive scale.

Aye, the Cardiff based media with all their nice houses and apartments in Cardiff Bay and more exclusive SE Wales are hardly going to kick up a fuss as long as they're alright. Ditto the press that are aligned to Trinity Mirror.

Looking at the news I noticed a garage in Abergavenny is charging £1.67 per litre which is approximately 30p cheaper than the rest and 40 p cheaper that the rip off merchants at Pont Abraham services . We're being taken for fools

So you want the welsh people to pay for the needs of the tourists ?

It was an example, when was the last time you tried coming through the tunnels? It's a nightmare for people heading West. Do you drive, do you actually venture out around the Country?

You are seriously poorly informed. Is it only now you have realised petrol is more expensive at service stations? It has been like this for 40 years.

Come on KK the tourists are already paying their own way in taxes in about everything they pay on. Let's attract more away from Devon and Cornwall. More money comes into the nation more jobs, wealth etc. The last thing a Welsh holiday business need at the moment is another tax. We as working people are already taxed through the eyeballs. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Anybody can have one (or more than one ) Jim. You get a fixed price for the week and that's what you pay for the seven days. Usually 4 or 5p per litre cheaper than the area. [Post edited 24 Jul 2022 17:08]

I’ll say it again. I want the WG to prioritise its spending on something that will give the people living in Wales the best possible RoI and top of that tree is tourism.

The trouble is? Those in charge down Cardiff Bay would drown in the 'private sector' with a penalty clause and profit and loss environment where there is punishment for failure with far greater scrutiny of performance. If someone in the private sector had wasted the £114 million like that lot did in Cardiff Bay to achieve the sum of sod a few years back, then out of the door they would go! They just do not have a clue how businesses work, hence why they neglect the importance of vital road infrastructure. A bunch of backward yokels with the common sense, critical thinking ability, business acumen and ambition of a gnat. The thought of the direction (Project New Moldova) Wales's is heading from its economy to public services to infrastructure (outside of Cardiff) is extremely worrying. Cardiff aside, Wales is going to be in some sh1te state 20 years from now!

On current evidence based on 25 years of devolution, it’s very difficult to argue with that.

Yes they are. And now plenty of holiday home business let’s are selling up too, so there goes many cleaning, laundry and gardening jobs. Not to mention the many tradesman that got plenty of work updating them through the winter months. Soon, all the cafes and pubs will be shutting down as people decide against visiting Pembrokeshire and the like. Very quiet this summer out west. Nice one Drakeford but no problem as the sheep will keep voting you in…… [Post edited 24 Jul 2022 22:45]

we all want to see a successful Wales, but its not a theme park for others. If we use the proposed Tourist Tax to improve our holiday offerings then it will build its own sustainable future. Shirley you can see that. Its extra money on top of what welsh govt can do. Its done in many places the world over already. Its not only a numbers game btw, it needs to be a quality offering. And that takes investment. The tourists will not mind. Its a relatively small amount per person per night.

The vast majority can see how useless the 'government' in the Assembly is...and yet, on so many threads, those complaining about the Labour policies in Wales pretend that the Tories are just as bad and do not advocate change. So we continue in a North Korea like situation. One party in government for nearly 30 years...yet we daren't give some different ideas a whirl, no. The voting public it seems, hates the Tories (thanks to their Parents & Grandparents) more than they want a better future for their kids. The situation has become quite sick. If Labour announced the first born son of every household would be sacrificed the day after the election they would still win in a landslide, such is our people's meekness, misplaced loyalty and lack of imagination.
