Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan : Be owners, take ownership and own this problem ! 22nd Aug 2022 08:00
One time Swansea City striker Ian Walsh who has commentated on Swansea City games for many years has opened up on his feelings regards the current ‘majority ownership’ at Swansea City. And he didn’t hold back. 3

Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan : Be owners, take ownership and own this problem ! on 15:43 - Aug 22 by KeithHaynes

Please accept my apologies. 🙏
I put my hands up as the information we had was that he still was in some form.
However, a big influence and part of the ownership group.

Mind you I thought Terry had stepped down ?

He has. That contact list is pretty old now.

The change in Trust representative was only confirmed on Companies House a few days ago (19th August), the official site isn't fully up to date.

Mr Morgan's company sponsor the stadium in the event of no one else being interested except betting firms and also sponsor shorts. I presume he would step aside if a bigger firm wanted to get involved or the club got to the Premier league but that is a guess. The Liberty company did not pay any fee at all for years after they ceased trading.

If I was an owners i would want an explanation for poor performances and an apparent poor strategy. It is clear Martin needs coaching assistance. Martin has to adapt to survive.

maybe the owners are not prepared to bring in experienced support for Martin.
It may explain the Calderwood issue in June.

To be someone's assistant then you need to buy in to the same philosophy.
Watching that training video a few weeks back, I'd imagine they'd struggle to find anyone who does

My reading is that Martin did not ask for support and Winter pressed him on it. (at a guess). Martin declined then thinking this season would go well with Darling on board.

Things are proving tougher than he expected with multiple errors by players. Changing players has occurred but the results (at home at least are the same). Blackburn and Luton was the re run of Forest, Reading, Stoke, Fulham QPR at home last year.

What he is trying to do is highly ambitious. 70% possession 70% of the shots on goal 70% of corners and set pieces and wins in abundance. It is a nice dream. He may as well bring in an experience technician to help him.

What makes you think that is what he is trying to do? Again you have made it up to suit the narrative.

It doesn’t appear as if that is what he is trying to do at all. I think he is perfectly happy weighting the shots and chances in the oppositions favour as he simply tries to tire them out.

His game plan appears to be to passively dominate possession for 70 odd minutes and hope to actively dominate the game from there on.

Dominating the game and dominating possession are entirely different of course. They are often confused though.

As an American and a Jack, I felt what I thought was the apex of embarrassment over Brad Bobbly when he was the gaffer for those ridiculous 3 months at the end of 2016.

But these two asshats have outdone him by a mile. Brad was utterly clueless, but at least he was trying his best. These guys are low class grifters who don't give a crap about anything beyond their personal bottom lines.

I met Levien in Richmond Virginia right when he bought the club, and he said all the right things. But anyone can talk, and rich cvnts like him usually have that down to a science. And it's not like I didn't know that about people back then, but I really wanted to believe in them, I guess.

That all said, Martin's problems are Martin's fault, and it is time to move on.

Maybe the owners are not too concerned as long as Martin balances the book each year with sales.

I've never been one to criticize the owners, for me they have invested some cash, a lot more than 70/80% of other clubs in the football league, it's just things haven't work out. Unfortunately for us now, we are in a situation where some choices especially current manager has not worked out, while juggling our finances from the Premier League drop off. I am a believer not spending money you haven't got. We had our 10/15 years in the sun and now we are on a downward spiral which happens to clubs like ours, that's the beauty of the journey of following a club like ours.

If your playing the blame game, my blame would certainly be on Russell Martin not the owners. Why are we buying two central defenders in an area we already blessed with. You have frozen out an experienced centre half in Ryan Bennett and have no right wing back. That's poor use of limited funds, anybody with half a brain cell knew we wouldn't be able to shift Ryan Bennett off the wage bill, we have basically nearly sent out all our young attacking players out on loan without replacing them, we are only a few injuries away from having a crisis if Piroe or Obafemi get injured. How has the new central defenders worked out for you Russell, still conceding goals loads of goals. So ultimately is down to the current system being played.

It's a stick or twist game for the owners. For me you have to either go balls deep and back Russell, give him the players he wants this transfer window stretching our finances or you replace him with a manager who will make best use of the resources. If nothing happens, it will be struggle in the lower half the championship. For me I would replace Russell now, It doesn't matter if we brought in eleven premier league players in, we would still fail playing this current system.

Even when you know, you never know?

Pretty sure I have posted this before, but for me the 'Rosebud' moment was when Martin said that as a defender, he loved it when his teammates had the ball because then the other team couldn't score.

It took Dr P to get me to realise that this is the Holy Grail for Martin - it's not about possession with intent to attack at pace, it's possession for possession's sake. Martin said as much in that cringe-worthy video before Blackburn Rovers - keep the ball, make the other side run until they get tired.

Only problem is, 25% possession is more than enough for most teams to score against us, the way Martin sets up his players.

Agree with all of that apart from the downward spiral bit. It risks letting the manager off the hook. We should be able to compete at this level, and I believe even this horribly unbalanced squad could do well with the right manager.

Martin got the "golden 70% foursome" (possession passes shots and corners) of possession and chance domination is a few games last season . Peterborough at home for example. His best games. This is my perception. Away at Cardiff perhaps. Swansea cashed in in the last 10 minutes I recall.

Your perception is different "" I think he is perfectly happy weighting the shots and chances in the oppositions favour as he simply tries to tire them out"".

Given the four or five last minute collapses, tiring out the opposition does not seem to be working. Even Oxford and not very good Millwall.

Fans will not tolerate non attacking football for 80 minutes and it did not occur v Millwall. He seemed happy with that performance.

Right but he also got many other things several times last year that could be described as “the golden foursome”. Lets say, conceding 3 goals, a defensive error and 93% short passes.

So because something has happened a couple of times doesn’t mean that’s the goal. It’s an arbitrary parameter you are adding that doesn’t mean anything to anyone.

The question is what makes you think that is his goal, especially when we pretty much already know information to the contrary. We have played nothing like 70% of all of which you mention and he’s done away delighted with the performance, often when it was horrendous.

“Given the four or five last minute collapses, tiring out the opposition does not seem to be working”

You think?

Don’t tell me that. Tell your off again, on again, off again, on again idol. It’s his idea.
