| Swansea City v Hull City : Matchday Thread 22/23 19:34 - Sep 14 with 10869 views | NotLoyal | It’s an odd world, unless you let goals in consistently in injury time, then it just becomes a pain in the Humberside. Swansea City : Friday night pre match : ‘We’ve been so unlucky’ 16th Sep 2022 16:12If tomorrows SKY game at the swansea.com stadium is to be the turning point for Russell Martin it really must happen tomorrow. If we reflect back on the swans 1969/70 season with a start of two wins in nine that led to a third placed finish that season we have to have some hope. 0 Swansea City v Hull City : Two managers on the brink ? 17th Sep 2022 09:00Swansea City take on Hull City this afternoon in an early kick off that the swans really must win to convince the clubs majority owners all is well at the swans. Russell Martin is desperate to carry the flag forwards after an upturn in performances in recent games at least. But now it really is about results. 1 Swansea City dominate and ram home their quality at last ! 17th Sep 2022 15:11Russell Martin was delighted at the end of this afternoons game as his team brushed aside a pretty mundane and clueless Hull City. Despite no goals in the first half when really the swans should have scored three at least the second half was as good as we’ve seen this season. 0 Swansea City: Steven Benda; Nathan Wood, Kyle Naughton, Ben Cabango; Matty Sorinola, Joe Allen, Matt Grimes (captain), Ryan Manning; Jay Fulton, Ollie Cooper, Joel Piroe. Substitutes: Andy Fisher, Harry Darling, Michael Obafemi, Olivier Ntcham, Luke Cundle, Fin Stevens, Armstrong Oko-Flex. Hull City: Nathan Baxter, Lewis Coyle (captain), Callum Elder, Jacob Greaves, Tobias Figueiredo, Ozan Tufan, Oscar Estupinan, Dimitrios Pelkas, Jean Michel Seri, Regan Slater, Harvey Vale. Substitutes: Matt Ingram, Greg Docherty, Ryan Woods, Ryan Longman, Tyler Smith, Sean McLoughlin, Cyrus Christie. To follow.

Yes but some caution needed. Hull were as bad a side I’ve seen a long time and tbh it wasn’t down to us making them that way. We should’ve scored more but took us a long time to score. But we did and we took three points so I’m happy with that. Can’t fault any of the players who all played well. The only one I could criticise is Sorinola who couldn’t produce a decent pass into the box. Until he did! Needs to work on that though.

The first part is the only worry - they look the worst side in the league. Cundle as I predicted brought a lot to the side and earned his sky man of the match award (not bad for a substitute!). Capped it off with a good goal too. Lovely assist by Sorinola for the first too.

Depends what you mean by ‘optimism’. Am I optimistic that we won’t get relegated on the strength of the last three performances? Absolutely. Does my optimism stretch beyond that at this point (better than mid table finish, challenge for the play-offs even)? Not yet, no. Hull gifted us two goals through comedy defending that meant an injury time wobble was inconceivable. Let’s see how we cope when we are 1-0 up after 90 minutes against a better quality club. But for now, I am celebrating a great performance. Let’s hope there are many more like that to come this season.

Yeah strange way to welcome your own player onto the pitch , silence would have been better than the boos

i get that you "make your own luck" to some extent but can't remember the last time a team self-destructed like that against the swans. it was overdue. when was the last time this team was gifted a goal? it's nearly always the other way around.
| Swansea City v Hull City : Matchday Thread 22/23 on 15:39 - Sep 17 with 1547 views | Sirjohnalot | I really think we’re a touch of luck away from flying up the table. Results v Sheffield, Millwall and Stoke won’t happen often in a season. That was a good performance. Good to see Obafemi back in action. Things are looking up | | | |

Enjoyed the match. I thought we played well and you can only beat what’s in front of you. Pleased Piroe got his goal and hoping he kicks on after today. So yes….a cause for optimism indeed.
| Swansea City v Hull City : Matchday Thread 22/23 on 16:12 - Sep 17 with 1426 views | Treforys_Jack | I enjoyed even if I was getting a bit frustrated at HT, JA MG and JF shouldn't be in the same starting line up, especially at home. We could have and should have been a couple of goals to the good at the break. Sorinola is improving, Oli looks a cert for the rest of the season, Caundle looked useful. Again Benda looks far more assured. Only downside for me was the crowd singing Russell Russell give us a wave and Swansea loves you more than you will know. Cringeworthy | | | |
| Swansea City v Hull City : Matchday Thread 22/23 on 16:19 - Sep 17 with 1398 views | jasper_T | Went very quiet after the first 20/25 minutes. Fulton had a good game but when he dropped in for Allen our ability to play forward dropped off significantly. Would like to see Cundle in there if Allen is missing for any period. Hull very poor apart from Seri and their right back who had the pace on our left side. The young lad they had on the right wing looked completely out of his depth. Nice to come up against a side more willing to gift us chances rather than the other way around. Deserved to win by a good scoreline, but goals 2 and 3 were right up there with us at our worst in the last 12 months. Wood continuing to make the investment in Darling look a big mistake. Benda didn't have much to do but settling really well now. Helps that we only played him into trouble once or twice. Feeling weirdly frustrated because we know these players are capable of this, but have been hamstrung by dodgy tactics. We made them defend today rather than just playing in front of them, and it paid dividends. Felt like players are actually starting to think again rather than sticking rigidly to the possession script. A few scrappy periods where we went too far the direct route, but overall much better than a month ago. | | | |

Not sure who'd I'd have given it to tbh. Wood played well, Grimes was everywhere , Manning was decent, Jay was Jay. If Piroe had scored half his chances then he'd have walked it.

| Swansea City v Hull City : Matchday Thread 22/23 on 17:04 - Sep 17 with 1236 views | Badlands | Total control Not according some near me who thought Hull deserved to win. Two goals were apparently given to us .. no mention of the number of times we hit woodwork, the great save from their keeper and several gilt edged chances. Everyone played well but I can’t see how Sorinola has received so much praise. Youngsters added much needed pace and enthusiasm. I was definitely impressed and going home happy until Obafemi came on to boos and some very nasty racist comments. | |

I thought Sorinola was excellent throughout the game, opinions hey. Piroe was really unlucky could have had a hattrick, it'll come, their keeper produced a hell of a save for one of his chances, it has to be said, Cundle looks a proper class act to.
