Birmingham City v Swansea City : Match day thread UPDATED** 13:26 - Jan 8 with 16959 viewsModeratorC

Two new managers : Mowbray v Williams

Swansea City : Expect a different Birmingham City this Saturday ‘Mowbray style’ 9th Jan 2024 15:03
Another one of our bright young writers takes a good look at Tony Mowbray this afternoon, and what the Swans could possibly expect this Saturday ( St Andrews, KO 3pm ) It won’t take Tony Mowbray long to steady the ship and get Birmingham City going. 0

Swans close to Birmingham sell out & away day info latest 10th Jan 2024 08:00
Swansea City are close to selling out their 1,800 away allocation for Saturday when they take on Birmingham City at St Andrews. ( KO 3pm ) That’s great news as the Luke Williams feel good factor has gripped the Jack Army. 0

Bad news off the pitch for Swansea City today, but the Jack Army are behind you ! 13th Jan 2024 08:00
Swansea City’s squad are already safely installed within striking distance of St Andrews this morning. The not so good news is the usual suspects going down with injuries again. 0

Swans end up all level after going ahead at St Andrews - Twice ! 13th Jan 2024 17:51
As Ben Cabango joined the Swans fans in the away end for this game having been ruled out on Friday evening the Swans displayed a determined approach to this fixture. However, once again a match winning lead was given away by the Swans with well over twenty points now being lost this season. 1

Luke Williams on drawing 2-2 with Birmingham City 13th Jan 2024 21:07
Luke Williams was pleased with an away point at Birmingham City this afternoon. And despite stating the Swans started well in the second half ( they didn’t ) it was his first game in the championship as a head coach. 0

How did Birmingham equalise so easily ? The move examined and there is fault everywhere 14th Jan 2024 14:27
It was a tough but expected happening at St Andrews yesterday afternoon. This happens far too often, the Swans give away a lead when ahead, not once but twice. Man of the match Dembele was the big difference. We’ve had a look at that second goal and it’s a tad embarrassing all round. 2

Draw game a fair result, poor quality game, especially the first half gave the ball away so many times,

I thought there were positives in the game, we moved the ball quicker and there was less backward play. Could have won but we picked up a decent point. Early days for Williams, let's see where we go from here.

It’s BS ,S
They don’t believe anything of the mind
Nobody can expect us to win even when we go ahead.
We have lost winning leads more than anyone
That is our priority not try to play the Swansea Way sheete.
We lost when Williams made the subs
Naughton as a centre half !
First game,and yeah I’m underwhelmed
He ll probably praise the fantastic fans though.
Next week will see a fisting fest

Two very poor teams.

I think there were signs of something to work with from our pov. Disappointing in the end but I’m never surprised with us.

This passing around the back though will hand goals on a plate to better sides so I hope we deploy it cautiously with the opposition in mind. However, on the other hand if that’s our way of playing, the team need to play it in live situations to get the confidence up.

Gonna take time, he’s only just walked in through the door, people referencing him as the 2nd coming of Martin ain’t gonna help though.

Disagree.
For me, it’s reminiscent of his firmer mentor.
We need to be concerned
It’s very tight in this league

Next game ….

I thought we moved the ball slower under Martin, but we are entitled to opinions.

Indeed we are

Bringing off Lowe who was sharp was madness
Yates is a bad debt

I know it is pointless to look back, but Whittaker got his 15th of the season today. Our wheeling and dealing didn't work out.

With Grimes and Naughton on the pitch that’s all we needed was Fisher in goal and you would have had a full house.

I read some are encouraged by today
Any reason why ?
Were we being solid, pragmatic ,cute, holding firm ,closing down players ?
If so I missed it
There are similarities between Williams and Martin .
Clearly both articulate and both offering the disingenuous garbage to impressionable fans who are decent folk .
Cut the crap Luke eh.

No more Naughton

I see your point in that the nervy playing around the back was there for all to see and fill their pants with. In fact, it was more nervy than Martin’s days and I’d like to see us more pragmatic when we deploy this style if play.

But, I think there was more purpose in our attack and the inclusion of Parker has strengthened the side. I hope he is ok.

Tymon also on the left got some yardage in and put some good balls in, one that resulted in Lowe’s goal.

It was disappointing to lose in that manner even though the result was fair ultimately.

Cullen is impressing me more every game and Tymon showed his ability today. Like you, and as you know, I’d like Grimes to be more vocal.
