It seems we are always at risk of losing our Crown Jewels every season. This ‘strategy’ won’t get us anywhere and we’ll end up being a mid table Championship side or God forbid worse.
I think the only way we can do this is to pay bigger wages and not including a release clause. I’m not sure if that is something other clubs do but they don’t seem to be picked off the way we are. I know the barriers to this and maybe it is going to take time slowly building up the coffers to be able to pay larger wages but having far more control. If not, then put promotion on hold for a few years at least. |  |

Galbraith has already gone in my mind. And I have no time for a player who thinks he can come from a league 1 team to championship to suddenly acting like he is Messi. All players are ambitious and have short careers. But get your head down, work hard and rewards will come. Galbraith is a good player. But maybe he needs to look up his stats from last season. Maybe we are saying same thing or slightly different? Personally, a player has the right to go as high and as far as possible in their career. Though we don't know the details, Vipotnik was sensible on all fronts to take a new contract. It benefits all parties whatever the outcome. My issue a few things with Galbraith including reports of his attitude, even during the end of season awards ceremony, which I know people who was in attendance stated themselves he was off (by all accounts). Put that aside and let's say that's gossip, and his attitude was fine, for argument sake. No Galbraith should not just roll over. But there is a way to do it in a manner that is professional. Keith's report put it far better than I could ever say it.

Possibly he has told the club, but there is no way the club would match what is available elsewhere or should we. The £1M signing on fee we paid Vipotnik to sign a new contract is dwafed by what Galbraith will get elsewhere as a signingon fee. Remember we instigated new contract talks when there were over 3 years left on the deal, not Galbraith asking for more money. The simple fact is it was poor management on our part to put in such a small buyout. I don't buy we wouldn't have known how he would turn out, he is an ex Manchester United product who had a good loan at Salford and was signed by Orient and last season was League One player of the season, we should have covered ourselves. | | | |
