Back then it was an incredible achievement for the swans who had scrapped their way to the final in some tense matches. Personally I cannot believe it was so long ago.  0

Never thought we would see our Swans at Wembley.
Great day out, apart from getting in just as they walked out.
The traffic was a nightmare.
And that Tory Michael Howard was a jack.
That photo still troubles me.
Proud of our support that day.
Evening post had a chart showing tickets sold by each club in the days and weeks before.
Fella with us flew in from the States as he was a life long fan and simply could not miss it.

If i recall ….it was different to the league version top which had the same colours across the shirt, not just the sleeves.
I am probably wrong cos its a fair while ago.

I have Steve Torpey’s jersey from this exact game, scored the winning penalty in it (although they had to miss to confirm that).

Getting to Wembley was as big as it coukd get back then, I really miss those days, much more simple and appreciated things so much more then.
Was a schoolboy back then, remember a few things but it was all a daze really, going down that M4 with flags and scares hanging from cars was great.

That's how I work off the current situation, look at Oldham yesterday for example.
Standing as that schoolboy back then, if someone said to me that 28years from now you would be mid table in the championship then I would have the biggest smile you could wish too see.
As I get older and I think certainly having kids 😂 helps with a sense of reality in things. | |
