The latest is Morgan Whittaker to join Michael Obafemi and Jamie Paterson. We will remain as professional as we can regards these three. Suffice to say they are unprofessional and are of no value to Swansea City and the travelling thousands who continue to support our club.  0

Okay time to duck for cover, but I will be the one to state the obvious.
This does seem to be a theme and a pattern doesn’t it. From Day 1 with Piroe to present day and still rumblings. Have we ever seen anything like this before?
Only time I remember anything similar is the Garry Monk stuff and the split in the team, but they tended to be two fractions of player groups.
No idea what is going on with Whitaker so can’t comment but do know why both Pato and Oba are being ostracised and it does seem very trivial. Doesn’t reflect well on either player too mind, but these are things that need to be worked through. |  |

Martin has made it clear he’s well down the pecking order & it seems obvious we want to cash in, if he plays for us my understanding (might be wrong) is that he can’t then play for another club.
Is it really all him?
Patterson I agree just a shame we gave him a new contract.
Oba obviously we knew he was a loose cannon when we signed him, needed a strong manager to turn him around there is a decent championship player in there. Burnley are 18 points clear for promotion can’t see them buying him as they should now be looking at PL standard players which he isn’t. I haven’t heard of anyone else being interested.
At the end of the day as fans we only want players who are willing to give sweat & blood for the club & a manager who can get the best with the tools he has. [Post edited 22 Jan 2023 10:42]

I would think Burnley see Obafemi as an investment for not a lot of money.
He will most certainly get a few goals for them. The quicker they get up this season the better for them.
Regardless of his attitude, and it will change in time when he signs for them they will recoup the money. | |

Both are Martins favourites though, neither got any regular football prior to Martin coming in. I would imagine they have a mutually beneficial relationship.
And of course players are different, everyone has different personalities. A large part of managing a squad is to manage the different personalities to get the best out of them. That’s man management.
Sir Alex was the master as often spoken about by Keane and Neville who would adapt the way he treated players depending on the situation and benefit to the club. Apparently Cantona got away with murder because he would win them the game on a Saturday.
Pato is not blameless and Obafemi is extremely immature, but Martin isn’t helping the situation at all. It’s not a coincidence that this appears to becoming a repeated pattern.
I know that despite Martin bringing Pato in as his number 1 target, he nearly walked away due to Martins attitude, if it wasn’t for Liam Walsh who is described as the ‘angel on his shoulder’ then I don’t think he would have come back this season. But relationships continued to break down.

That’s probably as far away from Russell’s approach as could possibly be described.
If your face doesn’t fit then you are essentially ignored, both on the training field and on the team sheet. Which is why some have not bothered even turning up in the past.
Not professional on some of the players part, but it’s been handled awfully from top to bottom. Some players feel completely invisible under him, no structure to improve and no plan to work towards future involvement. | |

Stupidity doesn't go far enough for me , They won't play then no pay , . players like that are a stain on the game. A couple of slaps around the back of the head by some of the senior players s whats needed here .

It doesnt matter if its him or not he should have shown respect to the club and more importantly the fans by doing what he's been told, ateotd he's a swansea city player and he probably wouldn't have got onto the pitch as he is more than likely going whatever happens.
Obafemi has great potential but he obviously hasn't grown up, Martin has tried his best, he is the second manager who has tried and failed, just pass him onto kompany, he might show a bit more respect and push onto be te great player that he can be.

But we don’t know exactly what has happened to make that conclusion.
For example Pato and Oba made themselves available, they were just dropped and ostracised for a minor infraction. A small tap on the wrist would have done, or even a small fine, it was really nothing. But they were shunned.
No idea what happened with Whittaker, no doubt I’ll find out soon though. Wouldn’t shock me in the slightest if it’s along similar lines. | |

I have to admit to having a degree of sympathy for Whittaker. None whatsoever for the other two.
He wanted to finish the season at Plymouth
Martin also wanted that and pretty much said so publicly
The owners brought him back against both player and managers wishes
