The latest is Morgan Whittaker to join Michael Obafemi and Jamie Paterson. We will remain as professional as we can regards these three. Suffice to say they are unprofessional and are of no value to Swansea City and the travelling thousands who continue to support our club. 0 Dont play, don’t pay ? Click above.

| What use are these Swansea City players to the supporters of the club ? on 12:47 - Jan 22 by max936 | Both Paterson and Obafemi have previous for behavioural issues at another club/s, so although its disappointing its not a surprise. In Whittaker's case I think he has been badly advised by his agent or another. Very little blame can be laid by Martin's door, for the first two, but his comments towards Whittaker when he was coming back were misjudged in my opinion, he may have said them to gee Whittaker up perhaps, but that should have been done privately and not publicly |
Was talking about this yesterday. The best managers ( Ferguson, Klopp, Pep ) rarely criticise players in public, instead deflecting blame. No doubt in private there is much criticism thrown about. Martin has been naive and thrown playere under the bus more than once. He needs to learn not to do this. Certain players ( Paterson, Obafemi, and now Whittaker) have shown unprofessionalism and disrespect for the club and the fans. Others ( Manning, Lati, Fulton and Piroe ) have shown themselves to be totally the opposite. The latter are the types we need at our club. The former trio can do one ASAP

I'll cut Whittaker some slack to be honest as I think he's had some bad advice.

Yes why sign a contract if you are going to strop when you don't get what you want. Having 3 playing up is very unfortunate but I do think pandering to Patterson started this. The self entitlenment turns my stomach be nice if the clubs could wrestle some power back.

Agree. I didn't think so at the time as hoped Paterson firing on all cylinders would be great for us. Sadly turned out to be a big mistake and set a bit of a precedent

I accept he is young and as you say maybe he was advised badly. Still could have done with him yesterday. If a deal isn't done by the end of the window then bridges between him and Martin may need mending very quickly

Yes. He could have made the difference between a draw and a win. He is our player and until that changes we need good players in the matchday squad

As I seem to be persona non grata on here its not really worth my while opining buy I will. Martin does seem to be particularly unlucky with player and their attitude. I cant make it out myself as Ru has described both Obefemi and Paterson in complimentary tones. Whittaker and his initial handling might have made the lad rather unforgiving toward Mr Martin and his sojourn at Plymouth must have been a breath of fresh air. He was brought back ,which was good if that meant he was part of Martin's plans. It seems he is not, notwithstanding he is seen as a possible top player . He clearly has talent that a good coach could work on which applies also to Andy Fisher or would if he has talent, which is debatable. We have a history of players frozen out, ignored, not wanted in the first place , seen as trouble or not right right for the process. Who d be a coach ?

For example Pato and Oba made themselves available, they were just dropped and ostracised for a minor infraction. A small tap on the wrist would have done, or even a small fine, it was really nothing. But they were shunned. No idea what happened with Whittaker, no doubt I’ll find out soon though. Wouldn’t shock me in the slightest if it’s along similar lines. |
This isn't the first time we've had disciplinary issues with Obafemi & Patterson so maybe the time for a tap on the wrist had passed?

Paterson dropped himself when the clause in his contract was agreed and then he realised he had made a mistake. He had five weeks off moaning, that wasn’t a minor infraction. Then after a fine Martin got the club to withdraw it. And Obafemi had warning after warning about lateness, poor attitude and disrupting younger players talking about the managers approach to training and belittling him behind his back. Personally I would have launched my right foot in to his crutch Brian Clough style, young man.

That was last season, fully backed his omission from the team last year around that time. Only part of which was self inflicted. This year however, with a supposed clean slate, the reaction to a pretty small thing has been way over the top and the team is suffering as a result. Same goes for Obafemi. These aren’t the only ones. Ogbeta and Oko Flex also received similar treatment this season.

Paterson is a difficult customer and someone who clearly sulks. Was Martin right to go public about it and be so candid about it after the match? I’ve said before that my biggest criticism of Martin is that he does air his dirty laundry in public and I’d prefer him to keep things in house. That said, Paterson has reacted like the idiot he is and has downed tools which is unforgivable.

I haven’t seen anything from Paterson when he has had a chance to get that slate clean. With Ogbeta, I’m unsure as to his ability as nobody has really seen him. I’m certain if he had the ability as he can play right wing back or whatever it’s called now he would have played. I’ve heard he wasn’t endorsed by the club wholly and Martin didn’t even know about it until it was too late to do a ‘Jenkins’ Although that shouldn’t mean he is ignored, my feelings are he isn’t good enough. On Flex, yes he should have had more game time, why I don’t know, maybe he just didn’t grasp the job he had to do ðŸ’ðŸ»â€â™€ï¸ Martin makes mistakes, he makes loads of mistakes, everybody does. But surely now there has to be a review at the end of the season ? Not now.

Throw in that he has continually along with Obafemi been late for training on a regular basis aswell as not turning up on the odd occasion......taking the mick out of the whole club from management to fans. As per the original post, it's not something that the club let alone the fans deserve. These players need to take responsibility and not throw their toys out of the pram, Martin has tried to smooth things over but it gets thrown back in his face the next time they pull the same stunt, once is bad enough but between a few it's gone well into double figures for lateness/no show.

Be it not turning up for training or turning up late, moaning about the manager, club etc, refusing to play until their demands are met, requesting not to be included after being selected for the game on Saturday,or being badly advised, the outcome has been the same. These three players ( all of whom get well paid for what they do, however brief their careers may be ) have let the manager down, the club down and the supporters down. Forget the nonsense of constantly blaming Russell Martin. Whatever rules him and the club apply are the same for all players. Most abide by them, these three chose not to. They deserve to be fined as much as is allowable until they can be shipped out. If they don't want to wear the shirt, then good riddance. Get them moved on quickly and get replacements in who do

I feel sorry for Whittaker, think the whole thing has been dealt with poorly and clearly brought back by the powers on the day his loan recall was set to expire, brought back to be sold. Whittaker wanted to stay, Martin wanted him to stay at Plymouth......was never going to have a good outcome. Sometimes it makes you wish the club could just come out and state what has happened with Pato and Obefami instead of quarter truths coming out on the Internet! Total lack of respect has been shown with the antics of a few players at the club, mainly Pato and Obefami but if you continually turn up late and disrespect the clubs, it's fans, your fellow teammates then you can expect repurcussions......unfortunately it shows the mentality when the reaction to something so obvious is to react like it's not your fault and not want to hear something you don't like is so Childish then there can only be one outcome. World has gone soft, gone mad.......you can't continually just turn up late, worse is people think that this is OK and then have the front to point a finger at someone else.

I don’t feel sorry for Whittaker at all. He’s a professional being paid a significant amount of money to do a job he’s refusing to do. It’s his choice to act like a petulant little man child. It’s his choice to act completely unprofessionally. It’s all on him.
