| Everything Russell Martin said after losing to Birmingham City on 10:21 - Feb 5 with 1540 views | vetchonian | in fairness he put his hands up and accepted the blame for the subs scenario ...he looks a broken man maybe he has finally realised he us out if his depth. This must have been his first post match presser in 17 months where he hasn't thrown the blame on anything or anyone else. I actually felt sorry for his uncomfort but he has only himself to blame. it is sad that a third manager in succession has been thrown under the bus in the January window but seriously if Cooper wasnt backed when we were in the top3 and needed a quality signing what hope did Martin have | |

He is going to have one hell of a job to motivate the squad in time for Sheffield after yesterday's debacle. All the life seemed to be drained out of the players at the final whistle and it was easy to see why.

Perfectly put, Cooper as an example wasn’t guaranteed funding in early June after the play off final. So he walked. The ownership saw him as a failure for not getting the club back into the premier league, so they didn’t back him. And here we are today with a manager who clearly has worked so hard to get things right it’s affecting him personally. He should leave, and not for any other reason than his health and family. The club has a toxic feel about it and is being allowed to drown in unchartered waters, because currently that’s where we are.

Whatever peoples feelings are on Martin, that is a hard watch, hes probably had a hard week, and that final 20 mins in the game and the fans response, has probably got into his head. its going to be a very critical period for the club, his, the team, the owners response! its obvious Martin has the backing of his staff and the players, including what some are saying those that don't like him. ATM I have no idea which way its going to go, a bad next few games and that might be it, and he goes, a very very precarious few weeks lie ahead. LBH the year ahead is going to be decided in that time, and possibly the direction the club goes.

I had a message with a family member last night, and put it that The ownership may have similar input ATM regarding Martin.

Your second paragraph says it all for me. We can all give opinions and argue amongst ourselves, but the bottom line is that nothing will change until the toxic feel is sorted.

I’m certain you do it for fun. Not least it’s clear he has worked tirelessly, you don’t have to be a complete success or even a marginal success to see the hard work he has done. I think you need to read the thoughts on 3 Swans on this. And possibly reflect a bit.

I can back up my writing and thoughts with hundreds of reports and close contact with the people I write about. I don’t come on here to insult and never will, it isn’t my fault your football team can’t win football matches. But start levelling insults and levelling we will go.

It’s ok saying agree to disagree, but the whoppa hasn’t stated what they agree to disagree on. When this individual has sold in excess of 30,000 books and written for the years on Swansea City maybe some will listen. Until then it’s just words he will never repeat other than on a forum website. Hiding.

Apparently some know better. Yet if they had to reference their opinions with real life sources they would be flummoxed. No respect for the good work Keith and co put into this forum, or the reasons it exists.

I’m no fan of RM by any means, and I know yesterdays result stains his character and tactical nouse….but I felt really sorry for the guy yesterday. He’s had a bstard of a week…month maybe once he’d realised what the end of January would bring. I’m not a believer in kicking a guy when he’s down, so get your act together mate and prove a doubter like me wrong. Best of luck at SU!

I am convinced that you are a very nice person Keith and that you like to see the best in people. So you will have to forgive this old cynical bar steward who does not like to put up with people who are really good at saying what people want to hear and not so good at providing it. I will go back to not posting as it obviously upsets too many.

Your posts are often from a variety of positions. Nobody has any issue with that. Whether you continue or not is a matter for you. I take a personal standpoint but never let that cloud the website’s reports. I won’t go feet first in to anything without first having regard to the people involved or the impact it has. I know a journalist who wrote a piece on Gary Speed, it questioned his football intelligence, three days later he was dead. Not for that reason of course. It seems some on here currently can’t take a proportionate view without insulting others. I’ve never said what people want to hear, maybe a little trawl through the website will help or indeed back to the nineties will help. You seem to have an idea you are either for or against a ‘subject’ we’ve tried to add both sides of the story for nearly three years now. But if shouting louder than everyone else is what people want then maybe they should come out from under their protective rocks and as 1462 said yesterday and get some minerals. Done that, been there and wore the T-shirt. and continue to do so today. Not sure what else there is to say other than seriously, Russell Martin’s current position and results at Swansea City isn’t my fault. And I won’t take abuse from anyone on any level as I think I’ve displayed on here and away from here since taking over this nursery. So don’t think I’m that nice. Honestly.

Again you misunderstood what I wrote, perhaps I wasn't clear. The person that I consider who says what others want to hear is Martin. He is a very good talker, he sold himself to MKD and to our owners and has deflected criticism for 18 months. Whereas I just think you are too nice.

Patient is a word I would use to describe Keith. "Nice" suggests Peter Kay or Michael McIntyre. He isn't any of those for sure. Decent guy, definitely, but nice is a bit too wooly for Keith.

| Everything Russell Martin said after losing to Birmingham City on 13:17 - Feb 5 with 1027 views | Sirjohnalot | Just watched the press conference. I hope he’s got someone to talk to privately, but worried about his mental health. Whatever his perceived failings, righty or wrongly, he’s a decent man with a young family who’s struggling at the moment. Appears as if the owners are not happy with what he said but he has called them out from what he perceives to be issues behind the scenes. | | | |
