I would agree with you, was always going to be a work in progress rather than instant success.
Your no 2 is right to have their view/opinion but your opinion can't be discounted until we are further down the line.
There are signs of positivity as much as there as been worries but it's something that many have expected so it comes as no suprise. | |

Passing the ball in football is key, some waste playing the ball forward where others are patient.....its an art and a mental combination knowing when to pass forward and doing so with an outcome.
At home is going to be very interesting indeed, certain teams will sit back more on our style and this is when an individual bit of class could be the key.... A pass, making room to get a shot off, essentially a creative player in there makes a big difference.
Its not going as smoothly with Martin but it certainly is going as expected with many. One thing I have learned is to be patient and understanding to something that won't happen over night. | |

They did, as did Rodgers.
There is some myth that a few have built in their heads that Martinez and Brendan used to have 75% possession and 800 passes a game.
It’s simply not true. They played nothing like we are attempting to at the moment, it’s not even remotely similar despite the intellectually challenged “BuT wE KeEp tHe BaLl” mob.
The key to Roberto’s tiki taka and Rodgers spin on tiki taka was the direct balls. We had nowhere near as much possession, nowhere near as many passes and concentrated on quick incisive passes, if it meant going 40 yards up the field for Dyer to run onto then we would do it, there was no ego trumping the desire to win with either of those managers.
Under Brendan Rodgers we had an average possession percentage of 58%.

He obviously needed a few players but he was never going to get them quickly because we don't have the cash laying around.
It was becoming a concern to me because our previous decent form had slipped alarmingly and we looked very vulnerable, as well as slow paced and even scared.
That second half yesterday was a massive improvement though, now we need to keep pushing on. Don't let standards slip, don't stop being an attacking threat, don't let the attacking intent slip back to doing what is easy.

I fully see what Martin is trying to implement and I think the play offs were and never going to be realistic this year with such a new set up behind the scenes and on the pitch. I would really hope that as the season goes on and safety becomes more relevant that Martin looks at a different formation as coupled with the style he is playing, next season we could really be that eye opening team with a different formation. | |

Why not try a 4-2-3-1, why not try Smith and Grimes as CDM's and put Ntcham, Pato and Downes into AM roles? Maybe even try a 3-2-3-2 with Piroe AND Obafemi or whoever we sign, up front? I don't think we currently have the players for the formation Martin favours. | |

This player thing perplexes me. We were a pl club we were recruiting players to fit into our style which was a footballing one until HJ let Monk take the reins
We have an academy which produced players playing the Swansea way yet Martin has to go out and bring in suitable players
I don’t get it… Martinez,Rodger’s and Laudrup got good football from what they had some of whom did not have the pedigree Martin inherited | |
