| Is the patience finally paying off!? on 22:26 - Oct 5 with 2806 views | Dr_Winston | If we were still doing the same things we did last season then perhaps that claim could be made. As there are obvious changes to the way we do things, especially since Benda came back in then perhaps it's more accurate to say lessons might finally have been learned. | |

| Is the patience finally paying off!? on 22:28 - Oct 5 with 2799 views | Kilkennyjack | It looks like and the results suggest that us the case. We can beat anyone on our day. Confidence us high. We have a proper keeper. However every game in this league is a battle until the final whistle. | |

| Is the patience finally paying off!? on 22:29 - Oct 5 with 2798 views | PatchesOHoulihan | It looks that way The establishing of Benda as first choice has been a huge part of our more steely demeanour and something I didn’t think Martin would do. Clearly he has also brought a lot of positives to our game and how we are now playing - getting the blend right has been the issue. Hopefully this continues as I’ve no doubt we have good enough players and a stronger bench than I thought | |

We as a site could see the end game, it may not even pay off now, but the football is exquisite at times, and what really saddens me is that still we have fans ? Who want to cause issues even after another fantastic win away from home. Martin will be a top manager in the premier league one day, like Sousa, Martinez, Rodgers, Largo, Cooper, there may be others. Those lot down the road are very very very SECOND. Shit I forgot Potter whose team beat AC Milan tonight.

| Is the patience finally paying off!? on 22:36 - Oct 5 with 2771 views | magicdaps10 | Personally I don't think anything has been achieved but I think it proves also that it would have been wrong to sack Martin when many were calling for it. Football changes quickly and stability is very important in regards to turning the wrong way.......things will evolve and things will improve with stability and this is what we are seeing with Martinball. Big game Saturday in front of our home fans.....this will ve the real test to see where we really are. Win and and the wings are fully open Draw and we are in a good place Lose and there needs to be a real work on mentality. | |

RM madevthe decision to bring in Fisher to replace whoever was in goals at the time. His "bad" as the kids say. RM was the one who brought Benda in to replace Fisher. Credit to him for that | |

| Is the patience finally paying off!? on 23:10 - Oct 5 with 2574 views | Dr_Parnassus | Patience with what? Patience was being called for with the old Martin-ball style when many of us were pointing out doesn’t work, and we need a more sensible approach. We said we need to slash the possession numbers, slash the pass count number and add in more long balls, end the “short at all costs mantra” and stop the messing around between the keeper and defence. We were having 75% possession, 800 passes and 5% long balls regularly. It was ludicrous and no amount of patience would matter - it was flawed. There was a marked change from Stoke onwards where his job was seriously under threat. He has swallowed his pride finally and changed to what we were calling for… shock horror results have improved. Here are the stats of our games since he clearly changed the style (as noted by most now). Watford 2-1 win. 51% possession 442 passes 11% long balls WBA 3-2 win 56% possession 458 passes 13% long balls Hull 3-0 win 61% possession 593 passes 6% long balls Sheff Utd 0-1 loss 49% possession 470 passes 12% long balls QPR 1-0 win 46% possession 430 passes 17% long balls (?!) Stoke 1-1 draw 52% possession 428 passes 14% long balls Average possession: 52.5% Average pass count: 460 Average long balls: 11% …………………………………………… Boro 2-1 loss 61% possession 551 passes 9% long balls Luton 2-0 loss 75% possession 632 passes 8% long balls Millwall 2-2 draw 61% 532 passes 7% long balls Blackpool 1-0 64% possession 525 passes 9% long balls Blackburn 3-0 loss 71% possession 708 passes 6% long balls Rotherham 1-1 draw 74% possession 589 passes 7% long balls Average possession: 67.5% Average pass count: 590 Average long balls: 7.5% ……………………………………….. The difference is stark. Pass count down by 22% Possession down by 22% Long balls up by 50% He is doing what he should have done 12 months ago. As noted. | |
