| Is the patience finally paying off!? on 11:30 - Oct 9 by jack247 | Well nobody knows if we’ll keep playing like this. Nobody really foresaw the change in ideology 6 weeks ago. I’d guess most of us hope we do. I’m more than happy to ignore the last 12 months. The important thing is, he seems to have found an effective way of playing early enough in the season that we’ve worked our way to three points off the top. If we do revert to 75% possession and kamikaze defending, it will be beyond idiotic and he’ll deserve all the abuse he gets. It would be worse now he’s found something that works. |
That’s my point, until there is a definitive statement regarding it then none of us really know what he’s thinking with regards to it. My praise will always come with trepidation that we could revert back until either he comes out and talks about it or he builds up enough trust in me. At the moment I’m just enjoying it while it lasts, how long that will be I have no idea. As stated, there has been false dawns last season where we got excellent results playing sensibly and then it was inexplicably scrapped. Fingers crossed it never comes.

Hard to argue with any of that If we were to beat Burnley then I will be getting moist

| Is the patience finally paying off!? on 10:41 - Oct 9 by vetchonian | as one of Martin's biggest critics I will now also offer him praise for taking the right road and backing down from his persistence of trying to play in a way that had never been successful and was dragging us down. We have had 4 great results since the obvious change and long may it continue. it doesnt mean we have become a hoofball team just that we now ate more purposeful with the ball. Well done Russ and the team |
Well done for giving him the praise he deserves......getting people on side is very difficult on times and it's nice to see people just acknowledge that a thought or opinion has changed. For us to progress then it really helps that all are on side and supportive of the cause. PS Not noticed if you replied but I mentioned Nigel Rees as the player who put the cross in for Cardiff in that victory against Real Madrid. He was a cracking coach for a few years in the Welsh league.

And well done to you too for recognising that the likes of Vetch were spot on with the criticisms and observations made, to the point Russ has now changed it to exactly mirror them despite the protestations from many on here at the time (and still to this day). I see you have also now accepted the tactics have changed, something you were reluctant to do before so that’s a big step for the board because hopefully productive discussions can be had now on it. Good man.

He gets praise fromm me now because he has changed tack....he still deserves criticism for his previous approach. Yes Nigel Rees he was also part of our School of Excellence and Acadamy coaching set up at one time,

Oh come on Vetch! Imagine if all our wives had that school of thought and we would be in big trouble. Never hold a grudge and don't be afraid to say that you are wrong without looking for a 'but' and that's a good recipe for being a decent soul. Real football man is Nigel and has given a lot back to the game.....now he would only have a lot of praise for Martin and certainly knows the game with the experiences of what a young boss goes through. Luckily we didn't sack Martin when people were calling for it....top manager in the making we have on our hands.

IT is Keith but it took him a long time to work out things were nt working under his original plan. But it seems the penny has dropped...Hopefully he will continue and learn as we all are very day.

I wasnt wrong though daps I am praising him now as he has changed the style of play... We are playing a different way to the Martinball we saw last season and again at the start of this...Had he continued with his preferred way he would be sacked by now!

We are playing nothing like we did before Keith.....the stats even show it 50% possession yesterday and we scored 2 goals and created lots of other chances I recall sitting through games where we had 70% or more possession and as Russ said we "dominated" the game yet lost or failed to score. Let's not pretend patience with the "process" has paid off the "process" has been dropped we are no longer playing Martinball as his vision he is playing sensible attractive attacking football Martin has realised his "way" wasnt working and has adapted ....its taken him 3 seasons mind!

We are playing evolveball. Who knows where it will end, it's all part of the journey, hold tight and enjoy the ride.

We are but there are still so many on here claiming we are where we are because of the process. We are where we are because there has been a sea change. as a result we are winning....but lets not pretend its due to Martin's brilliant management. Things have changed in how we play its totally different to what we have seen Im happy we are where we are but please lets not pretend its the result of the last 50 odd games ..and things have "clicked" for whatever reason MArtin has had a change in approach... Im happy always am when we are winning and competing which previously we werent we are also pleasing on the eye long may it continue

It's become more of a personal battle on here in regards to being right rather than what's the best in regards to understanding the position Swansea City are in. Once we lost that play off final against Brentford then things were going to chance......patience and understanding was key and hopefully Martin has now built a foundation that allows us to grow again. Its about Swansea City and always has been.

| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.
