| Is the patience finally paying off!? on 17:02 - Oct 8 with 852 views | Dr_Parnassus | Excellent result today, could have easily slipped up on that one. No signs of regressing to that awful style, this really could be the start of something. I don’t care how it’s come about whether it was a Martin realisation or a stern word from above, the important part is we are now playing a brand of football that makes sense and is effective. There can’t be anyone left who seriously suggests that we haven’t drastically changed our style is there? (and I don’t mean those who do it to troll). 49% possession today Sunderland also out passing us 478-475 10% long balls A newly promoted side having more passes and more possession than us, at home, 11v11 is not something that would exist in any realm prior to the change. So refreshing that our focus now appears to be on actually winning the game rather than that nonsense. [Post edited 8 Oct 2022 17:07]

A win is always pleasing Today, I watched via swans tv as weather here isn’t the best and at 2/0 I was comfortable until missus reminded me how often we ve shipped goals. No need to have allowed them back into the game. Benda is the difference and his year long exile is still sticking in my craw. He is excellent and what we need. Solid. We need to flow Fisher if possible, give Benda a contract extension and sign a second keeper as Fish really ain’t up to it.. Fulton today was terrific.

Fisher didn't play today not really fair to criticise when he not played for a month. He is just fine as competition.

Friend. It is fair to point out the excellence of Benda . His treatment and comments made about him were certainly not fair Fisher should not play Benda is the future

It is also fair to pint out that Fisher has not played under our "new" system. Therefore who knows if he was not expected to play tippy tappy around his own 18 yard box he would not be a better keeper ? Benda has done well these last few games, but he still presented the ball to Sunderland this afternoon on one occasion which could have been disastrous

Don’t you eat humble pie when wrong? I was spectacularly correct. Try again.

Not hoofing it, no. But we are playing long passes to pull defences out of position, balls over the top and also quicker direct balls through the middle. But we also do have some defensive clearances when needed. Prior to the change the above was scarce. This is far more sensible and in line with what was being advocated for.

Decent riposte Fact is Benda is more commanding

I agree Benda is much more commanding. Hopefully Fisher will be taking note but also given the freedom to be a keeper first and foremost.

| Is the patience finally paying off!? on 23:08 - Oct 8 with 560 views | Dr_Parnassus | He hasn’t played under our new system because he’s not suited to it. As a keeper he seems small in stature, is not very commanding, not great in the air - but his strength (if you can call it that) is that he is less likely to pass to the opposition when under heavy pressure playing tiki taka football at the back. The restoration of Benda to the starting line up is as much of a visual symbol of the death of old Martinball as anything else you can find. | |

What's Fisher got to take note of? Not to f*ck around with the ball unnecessarily at the back? He'd have already been well aware of that. The desperate, pathetic attempts of some sad cases to pin all blame for our previous defensive woes at the feet of the keeper rather than the manager whose orders he was obeying are bizarre.
