No specific meetings have been held with Russell Martin by Levien but even after the loss on Saturday he was endorsed in his position as manager, as were his coaching staff. 0 It’s above, so click it.

| Majority owners reinforce their support for Russell Martin & plan for Januar on 09:30 - Dec 12 with 1435 views | Dr_Parnassus | I think the sad reality is we can’t afford to get rid of him and replace him. I simply cannot truly believe their sound bites and take them as genuine feelings. If their ambition is to get back to the Premier League they simply cannot be happy with someone like Russell Martin and what he has brought to the table, it must be more of a case that we have what we have and it’s essentially forced upon us. I think I would take any manager since Kenny Jackett onwards over him. Close run with Paul Clement and Bob Bradley, but those would be the bottom 3 by some distance. But never felt my time was being wasted by the other two, they just weren’t very good. | |

He is supposedly learning on the job yet he continues Tto pick players out of position. We had a good spell when Ollie Cooper was selected and started but of late Cooper is used as a sub and ends up on the wing not in his best position of CAM, Joel Lati is always shoehorned into the side often playing anything but his "natural" centre back role, and this is done with other players too What was the formation about on Saturday with Naughton and Manning up in the front line? We have yet to see any consistency in team selection there is a lot of chopping and changing especially in the back line despite no "injury" crisis. Successful teams are usually ones with settled selection allowing partnerships and playing patterns to develop. If as they state the owners want to return the club to the PL then I think they need to take a step back but also find some more counsel from someone who understands league football in the UK. We are one and a half seasons into Martin's reign what progress has there been with the process. We pass the ball around a lot but are not getting results we have a 36% win return this season 35% last season Martin's best return was 39% in his second season but only full season at MKDons...so is his football of a winning style? Some say we dont have the players so what players do we need? Can the club afford them? This article talks of player trading necessary to keep the club financially stable...Things are critical I suspect many will not renew their season tickets this year due to the financial climate and some are bored with coming to games...there were lots of empty seats on Saturday this will further compound the problem. Whilst there will always be a hardcore who will attend no matter what many of the fans come to see us win and be entertained of late there has been little of this...and given the squeeze many feel on their household budgets many I believe will think twice before shelling out . Yes I am one of those fans who criticises Martin and it is because I see no progress he is still blaming everyone and everything bar himself he picks the team he has instructed them how to play...it is also obvious that when you do not follow instruction you get pulled and dropped ....Oxo Flex an example.. Given he played his football as a s defender I cannot understand how one and a half season in he still hasn't made us a tight defensive unit.. Whilst the Americans are doing a great job on the the financial side of the club they lack understanding of the football side and how things work in the UK which are different to the USA. It makes you wonder why Birch left? Was he frustrated with their lack of understanding and their response in January 2021 in shipping in two crocked US players rather than finidng a striker to ensure the promotion push given we were knocking on the door to the PL? Yes I have been vocal in criticising Martin but honestly do people see any change in the side form his first few weeks in charge? we maintain possession we pass the ball nicely and on Saturday we played some great stuff in the middle third of the pitch but once we get to the attacking third we are devoid of ideas and teams snuff us out...they are happy to let us play in the middle of the park... I couldnt see the sense of the high crosses being pumped in as Piroe is not a "target" man ala Kiefer Moore, Alan Waddle Bob Latchford. I am genuinely worried about the future of the club, we need a return to to the PL to bring " floating" fans back to boost the coffers.....gone are the days when we were able to get by with a hard core support of 3 -4 thousand at the Vetch ....we struggled finanically then. IF I could see progress on the pitch I would understand but there is none....good managers/coaches get the best from available resources....look at what we do have its not a bad squad its just badly managed...though I am not sure who else we could get but this "protection" of the manager is unreal managers in all walks of life are judged on results ....and so should Martin be

He was poached by Tottenham Hotspur with the finest newest stadium in the world with a budget at least 10 times Swansea's probably more. He then went to the FA He was a nice organised sort of fellow but got the whole Swansea squad supporting a highly dubious US organisation on the clubs web page with out any payment. Poor judgement. That was in my opinion cause enough for a sacking on its own. What was he thinking.?

Martin specialities in patchy form. Good runs bad runs. He need to demonstrate consistency. He looks like a manager in the mould of Tony Mowbray. A mid table manager that keep the club ticking over playing nice football nothing more. I hoped he watch Spain in the World cup. Bossed all the games possession wise but could not create chances against a packed defence. Spain would have beaten Morroco and Japan with a 36 year old Llorente leading the line. Toothless. The Josh Warington of football. Technically sound hard working persistent but no punch. Potter teams on good runs had both McBurney and Baker Richardson scoring by physicality and skill with OMcB and just physicality with CBR. I recommend a derisory £1m bid for OmcB in January and pick him up in June for free.

Not at all. What is a wind up is Russy saying we are the better team when losing regularly That I assume is a wind up. I thought it was a wind up when our players downed tools preferring relegation to staying up and then farkin* off asap. I thought Martin was a wind up after about a month . He wasn’t .he is real. Well he seems to have them believing that passing the ball around a lot but pointlessly is succesful. He seems to destroyed any attacking intent and when players show any he benches them. Cooper and Oko-Flex should be first names on the next teamsheet yet they may well not start and not come on until it's too late. We've had a few false dawns, we are repeatedly told to trust the process, well not any more. Martin's process is at best flawed, at worst? It's ossibly just as well St prices are not yet out because his Christmas I suspect people have a lot more worth spending their money on than SCFC and bearing in mind prices are still rising, it's a cold, cold winter and pay is not rising, I will have better things to do than renew our season tickets. I think that money was spent on the new dog!

fair enough...but the criticism of fans complaining is unfair.....surely the ones who turn out to support should be listened to In fairness to Levin and Silverstein they dont really understand how football works in the uk whilst they have a good business approach they lack what us needed to see if the footballing things are on the right track.Would you as a longstanding football supporter argue with some of the comments un my earlier post re team selections and settled sides? Seemingly things have improved since last season to justify Martins claims of "young men " developing rapidly. Benda, Cabango, Wood, Piroe, Obafemi, O Cooper etc. I got the feeling that Swansea got a lot of possession last year often 65% possession but this was not matched by shots on target and corners etc which were often as low as 35% . Seemingly thing have improved slightly with the same possession but a more aligned 65% possession and higher shots on target and corners. Big teams like Man City and Chelsea monopolise possession against weaker teams and also monopolised shots and goals. They tend to win most of their games. A look at goals and points show very little progress if any at all 2021 -22 (46 matches) 46% of all goals scored and 1.3 points per game. 2022-2023 (22 matches) 48% goals scored and 1.4 points per game The aligning of the possession stats with chances and corner stats does not show improvements in goals and points because perhaps, the tailing off of the goals scorers in the team Piroe Obafemi and Patterson. Presumably the club statistics performance people are assessing this. Swansea somehow need to turn possession into goals. Swansea forwards are all weak in aerial combat I suspect and possibly that could be improved quite easily while losing mobility with the signing of a player who can head the ball. t needs a full statistical assessment of course to verify my gut feeling. If Piroe and Obafmei and Patterson were on the form of last season Swansea would be top 6. McBurnie is a multipurpose player and ideal for Swansea with aerial power. Out of contract in June and over his dormant period of helping Yorkshire police with their inquiries. He was dropped for Sharp last week. If i was Silverstein and Levien I would accept that the progress is there but very slow. [Post edited 13 Dec 2022 17:49]
