IMO RM is gone one way or another and won't be with us any longer. If Southampton don't pay he will be on gardening leave until someone does. We move on irrespective.

I am not sure we are able to play hard ball and negotiate. I expect there is a fixed sum should he leave now with one year remaining.

That’s the issue, 400k but it’s what else is going with him. Hence the club nit accepting it. ( ATM )

It seems to me and confirmed in some of your posts that Martin is gone whatever happens. If Soton want to play hardball, let’s say they have other options, then we could see him and his team go for much less than the contracted compensation figure as that would be better than having him on gardening leave for a year.

They obviously don’t want him that much then.

I was actually thinking the same thing But Russ may yet have the Leicester option given as they look dead certs to go down What amazes me is the owners havent learnt form the Cooper scenario whisper were that the "excessive" compo demands cooled the interest of Palace and Fulham and here they go again .Seems strange though if has been suggested the club were looking to dispense with his services at least 450K in was better than the cost of paying him off

The owners should have had all their ducks lined up ready. However the club is like a headless chicken at the moment. When our manager and best players have flown the nest then our problems could really come home to roost

It is amazing that somehow people believe all our “best players are about to leave Id he surprised if Piroe doesn’t go given his goals over the last two seasons but really expect him to go to the PL and its been part of our model selling players for a profit dint forget he has refused to sign an extension so he can walk next July for free so we beed to capitalise not so sure many others will be offski and especially not to Saints with Martin given that article

The club are doing the right thing in my opinion, why should we let Saints get away cheap, its not just about Martin. The backroom staff he's taking needs to be compensated for. Hopefully the truth will come out in the wash

Just the usual suspects finding ways to moan bout the owners. They will be moaning if the club sells Piroe for less than the $0 million they think he's worth. If Martin doesn't go to Soton he has little option but to resign. And, despite what the fanboys think he won't be in the driving seat for another job. Cooper could call on his youth management and play off credentials ... Martin can't and that appalling run from October to March will influential. No matter what the situation our location and financial position will make selling Swansea to a manager as difficult as it is to bring in players.

Why would he have to resign?

I am not sure Martin would resign. He would be placed on gardening leave. This could be Summer 2021 all over again.
| Swansea City fighting for compensation & Saints board in turmoil on 16:59 - May 23 with 1637 views | SullutaCreturned | If it was my call I'd take the 450k (if that's what is on the table) because otherwise we are stuck with a manager we don't want who we will have to keep paying even when we have replaced him, just do the maths and make the pragmatic decision. As for the players, lets assume Martin is at the Saints, he can take Grimes if he wants but we can play hardball there, pay what we want or go away. I also think Piroe will be looking higher but we do need to accept either a lower fee for him or he's on a free next May. It's about making the best ecision for the club and hanging out demanding a lot more than the "buyers" are prepared to pay is fine when you're in a strong position but we are not in that position. It's really worrying that our owners are succesful business people who own several sports clubs but seem incapable of understanding the difference between sports business and "regular" business and thus making the best decision. Martin would be like Steve Morrison but clearly a bigger name. He would be picked up by someone eventually having got Swansea to 10th. He has other businesses to keep him occupied. He like Cooper probably believes he deserves a bigger package. That would have to be in the Championship at least. | |

What! you mean to say that our gracious wonderful owners aren't up to the loving praise that some posters afford them, well I never! There's to many decision makers, one can't run a bath unless the others agree etc, there's about 6 now on last count, its laughable.

You can be a drab failure at several clubs and some other club will always give you a chance. Football is funny like that, all you need is one passable season somewhere and you'll keep getting offers.

If you were selling you house would you sell it for half price after a couple of days on the market.

Oh come on, that would depend on the situation. If I was facing losing the house and it was sell or lose it all for nothing, then yes I would. It's hardly a vaild comparison though, my house can't refuse a new contract, kick me out and choose its new owner.
