I caveat ed my point that all loans should be of the 'loan to buy' type. Or at least loans which have a realistic chance of being converted. None of the four youngsters will be joining Swansea. In fact if you asked them they would laugh it off.

Cooper had wanted a striker all summer. Gyokeres came 4 games into the season with the team already up and running. Gyokeres wasn’t up to match speed. In fact he still wasn’t up to match speed when he joined Coventry in the January and took another 6-7 months to do so.
One unfit striker was replaced by two crocked yanks come the January. | | | |

Borini wasn’t a loan to buy, he was a loan to help us get promoted. If memory serves me correctly he’d already signed a pre contract in Italy. Brewster, Gallagher, Guehi etc were too, we just came up short.

It takes two to tango. Gykores hardly broke sweat in a Swansea shirt. He was very poor at Swansea and looked off the pace. He didn’t seem that interested. And apart from one or two glimpses the same can be said for Whittaker.
The Swans players you referred to on the other hand worked hard always to improve with the club as it went through divisions. They showed mental strength and desire as well as ability.

Managers have a difficult job which is to win games, if they don't win they are down the road. Player development while important, is going to be the secondary consideration for most manager's - given the short tenure most have they won’t be around to see the fruits of their labour.
