Is Vic (still) there? 14:35 - Dec 28 with 4607 views | ReslovenSwan1 | This story really boils my bladder fluids. Mr Levien must be pulling his hair out. He authorized the loan to buy this guy for £1m. Cooper "did not fancy him" sent him back then moaned. He preferred Lowe and Cullen. "No number 9 see butt" "No support see butt". £87m ought to do it. Useless Yankees giving us cheap players and not backing their coaches. "we deserve better". Whitaker anyone ? Duff "Fletcher was OK" What is it to them? No long term plans. They will all be off at the end of the season. It is the "Business culture" of the club. SHORT TERM ISM. Send the loans back. https://www.teamtalk.com/news/elite-87m-striker-enticed-two-destinations-arsenal [Post edited 28 Dec 2023 14:37]

I caveat ed my point that all loans should be of the 'loan to buy' type. Or at least loans which have a realistic chance of being converted. None of the four youngsters will be joining Swansea. In fact if you asked them they would laugh it off. I do not want to see Swansea as a stepping stone by anyone.

Loans should improve the team. Players we can afford anyway are far less likely to do that than the likes of Borini, Guehi, Rushworth etc.

There was talk of Borini being available on a free at the time. The Cooper years left the club with no legacy. Te club has talent in the academy but the managers show little or no inclination to play these prospects.

Cooper had wanted a striker all summer. Gyokeres came 4 games into the season with the team already up and running. Gyokeres wasn’t up to match speed. In fact he still wasn’t up to match speed when he joined Coventry in the January and took another 6-7 months to do so. One unfit striker was replaced by two crocked yanks come the January. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Borini wasn’t a loan to buy, he was a loan to help us get promoted. If memory serves me correctly he’d already signed a pre contract in Italy. Brewster, Gallagher, Guehi etc were too, we just came up short. It’s small minded to put ourselves at a disadvantage to rivals who are loaning players of that calibre.

Yes, we’re also ignoring the fact that Gyokores was atrocious when he played for us. I don’t blame Cooper for not playing him.

Cooper lost the player like Martin lost Whitaker. He was a promising 6 ft 2" striker with all the fundamentals in place but was raw. Just like Whitaker. Swansea had the option of signing and developing this raw talent but Cooper preferred Lowe and wanted Keinan Davis on loan again . He may have already decided his future was elsewhere. Why bother developing raw talent if you have other plans? You can help out old mates in developing their players instead. Both Goykeres and Whitaker are human being and need to be looked after and developed. They were treated like Asoro another that is much better now with hard work on the training ground. Swansea developed Britton, Tate, Rangel, Ash Williams, Taylor etc and got hem to improve year on year. This is the way forward. No one blame Cooper or Martin for anything. Levien is to blame.

watch All or Nothing: Leeds United on Prime Video - the Daniel James saga. This is why clubs do not want to deal with us. Thank goodness Huw Jenkins was still at the club at the time.

Complete and utter nonsense It takes two to tango. Gykores hardly broke sweat in a Swansea shirt. He was very poor at Swansea and looked off the pace. He didn’t seem that interested. And apart from one or two glimpses the same can be said for Whittaker. The Swans players you referred to on the other hand worked hard always to improve with the club as it went through divisions. They showed mental strength and desire as well as ability. You seem to be making things up to suit a narrative. I don’t know why.

Take no notice of the sheep herders buffoonery, attention seeking and his pathetic attempt at fishing, the club is an absolute basket case, Levien has sent over two more scape goats after the Pearlman experiment failed. Why doesn't Levien come over and sort out the shit he has created? He's not to blame though if you take in the BS purported by the stooge and agenda boy, everyone else is to blame according to him.

Borini got us promoted he scored some dam important goals on the run up to the play offs. The transfer to Roma was agreed before he come to us.

Is Vic (still) there? on 20:53 - Dec 28 with 1695 views | QJumpingJack | Why is there such fascination with Gyorkes? He was average at best for us. He did not stand out. I saw most of his games and he did little to impress. And if the owner was willing to pay 1m at the time then that is even more worrying [according to the poster who started this thread - again a source would be very valuable]

He was awful for us. Cooper didn’t fancy him. Every club every other season do the same, we are not unique. De Bruyne etc.

Is Vic (still) there? on 21:09 - Dec 28 with 1636 views | majorraglan | Coopers brief was to win games and get the team back to the PL, if he thought or didn’t see Gyorkes potential to deliver for him or the Swans thats it. Managers have a difficult job which is to win games, if they don't win they are down the road. Player development while important, is going to be the secondary consideration for most manager's - given the short tenure most have they won’t be around to see the fruits of their labour. Cooper won an age grade WC and I trust his judgement more than yours.

Yes short term ism. Cooper might have thought Goykeres has all the fundamentals and will be an hell of a player with 50 games under his belt. You are right the future of Swansea 20 month down the line meant nothing to him. Whitaker was brought back last year and Martin ignored him ad preferred Cullen. Martin was not thinking beyond he Summer. He could have got a lot more put of Whitaker but did not like the fellow. Now Swansea have no effective strikers. Fletcher at 18 was offered to Duff. He has been a revelation in the u18s. "He was OK but no better than what we have already got" (like Cullen). Another not thinking of 20 months down the line. Another player handed over on a sliver platter. Another £30m down the pan.

You seem to forget that Fletcher was being integrated into the squad before he buggered of to America for a holiday. Around the time of "background noises".

Who knows but it started around the same time. Without the club providing clarity on anything and poor press cooperation people will always speculate.
