The Worst QPR Game You Went To 14:27 - Apr 14 with 6181 viewsAntti_Heinola

We always do thebest as that cheers us up, but how about the worst? Choose your own guidelines - could be just an awful game, or you had a bad experience, or relegation.

I think mine has to be the home defeat by Southampton after Ray Jones died. It was awful, so sad, and on top of that a portion of the crowd were furious that the players didn't honour him by playing better and showed zero sympathy for a team grieving a teammate. Absolutely awful.

God, this is a terrible idea, sorry everyone.

Other than that, Vauxhall Motors was probably the most inept performance I've ever seen. But it triggered the most exhilarating run in recent memory for pure drama.

Bare bones.

Swansea 0-5 was a bad one, got a ticket from LFW regular 'StanisGod', at least the company was good.

i always remember a dire 0-0 with Wimbledon back in maybe 91/92

The home game after relegation to the 3rd tier was confirmed at Huddersfield.

Late 70s early 80s my mate drove us up to Derby away on a Tuesday night. Got near the Baseball Ground and seemed a bit quiet, stopped at a paper shop near a pub and bought a paper. Match was on the Wednesday.

Wimbledon away in 2001 in the relegation season when we lost 5-0 and they played 'Who Let the Dons Out' for every goal at ear splitting volume, plus a fight broke out next to me over Gerry Francis.

Special mention for a game against Tranmere in, I think 2002 when everyone - crowd, players and ref, were so listless and bored that the ball went out of play, bounced off the front of Ellerslie and the game carried on to not even a murmur from anyone.

Wimbledon 3 QPR 0 December 1990.
Battered and outplayed whilst fielding the likes of Gus Caesar, Robbie Herrera and Brian Law in defence.

Season before we got relegated to Division 2 there were some horrors - PNE away, Wimbledon away spring to mind.

At the time Stockport County away in the FA Cup when we were in the Prem was up there

Blocked many out but a Cardiff defeat at Loftus Road on the Friday night around the Vauxhall Motors defeat was bad as were countless trips to Forest including a 4 nil defeat.

Vauxhall Motors was a numbing evening at the Loft end as the penalty shoot out took place was horrendous. Took the next day off work and remember Joe Hylton going to the training ground for a chat with Ollie. Like Antti mentioned what a run we went on though to get to the play off final.

Well there has been a few over the years but only one really and that is that one that we like to forget in 1986.

Went there on a wave of expectancy and left before the end.

There plenty, but I remember a 2-0 battering at Doncaster that I unwisely drove to straight from finishing a night shift.

I very rarely leave early, but I left on about ‘88 because I was fücked and got utterly abused by fellow QPR ‘fans’ who must have been on the bugle. One of them got a clump when another left early with his young daughter and gave them the same treatment.

Birmingham away 1986 a few days before the milk cup semi against Liverpool, Brum had won for weeks, Macca started as centre forward wearing the number 9 shirt, we lost 2-0 and there was a punch up amongst QPR fans who were calling for Jim Smiths head.

Reading 0 QPR 0.
I went even though it was live on Sky. Atmosphere non-existent. Hardly a shot at goal in the whole 90 minutes.
Both teams got relegated because of the result.

I had to borrow a program to check that I had watched a Premier League match. It really was that poor.
Compounded by Bosingwa laughing his way off the pitch.

Couple of games away at Fulham come to mind. This season (possibly because it’s still fresh in my mind) and the ‘we’re fcking sht’ game.

The game in that carpark somewhere in Milton Keynes. The one where Faurlin got injured, Warnock got sacked etc. That was bad.

Oh god that Wimbledon was dreadful. Ainsworth ripped us apart - Jermaine Darlington was a decent little player for us, but that day Wild Thing absolutely destroyed him every single time he got it.
Bloke behind me said at one point 'I'm not racist, but we've got 3 black players and they're all sh!t today.' And I turned round and said, 'And the 8 white ones are playing brilliantly are they?!' absoute idiot, but he was an old boy, he didn't know what he was saying. You're right - absolutely awful one that one. Right up there.

Bare bones.

Wimbledon away 0-5. Left before the final whistle, went to a pub somewhere up behind the home end, already half full of Rangers, sheer misery.

Sheff Wed away fairly early in Harry Redknapps tenure. Tuesday evening lost 0-4, but should have been 0-12.

Home draw against Blackburn, September 2016.

I remember thinking before the game if we won then this team was going to kick on, but we drew and the season fizzled out. I felt really depressed after.

Another terrible game was when we lost 6-0 to Newcastle. I remember walking back to Harlesden, going under the grim underpass by the Westway and feeling very bleak about football and life in general.

Ther most obvious one is Norwich on Easter Saturday 1976. Not the performance, but for what it cosy us (and me personally as I had a bet on us being Champions at 40/1!).

Then we have two candidates from the 68/69 season:-

Away to Peterborough in the Leage Cup, a 4-1 defeat after scoring first to a team three divisions below us. I still regard this as far worse than losing to Vauxhall Motors who were also three divisions below us!

Then we had a Boxing Day massacre at home to West Brom. I think this was Ron Springett's last game for us & that day he made Bankole look good! The scoreline would have been a lot worse but for Brown & Astle deciding to aim at Ron as he ran away from the ball instead of scoring!

Thinking about it, Tony Brown that day could have made the list of best performances against us!

In terms of boredom, last season's home nil nil versus Reading with both sides sitting back hoping to catch the other team “ on the break”

Crumbs, there are probably a few here, I'll try and keep it trim to just 2/3...

1. Leicester City 5 QPR 1 - May 2015

Where to start with this one...my adopted home city (I in fact currently live 600m away from the KP Stadium, although due to move slightly further away soon, subject to COVID...)

The end of the terrible, terrible season in the Premier League after St Bobby's Day. Leicester had successfully completed their ridiculous run to stay up, and of course the following year went on to win the league.

We were just atrocious, Leicester ran rampant through us, my wife text me at half time when 3-0 down asking if we were coming home early because she could hear every goal going in (or the crowds at least...)

Disgraceful afternoon. I was so angry after the game that I walked home (which took all of 10 mins, spent 10-15 mins at home whining and getting changed into running gear, then went out for a run and went straight to the ground hoping to catch the team coming back to the bus only to find out they left within 10 minutes of the final whistle...some QPR fans were in the ground longer than they were!)

2. Nottingham Forest 5 QPR 0 - February/March 2010

Just a dreadful night. I lived at home still at this point (Northants), got up stupidly early to walk to a friends house for a lift to work in Kettering (a girl I fancied at the time who worked at a school near my office, sadly she turned me down when I eventually worked up the courage to ask her out). Got a train to Nottingham straight from Kettering after work and met my Dad at the ground. We were in that freefall period under Mick Harford, just after Paul Hart, before St Neil Warnock, and Forest were flying high under Billy Davies in one of their many periods of that time where they peaked around that time of season before collapsing. 3-0 at half time, Robert Earnshaw just scored loads of them (thats how it felt anyway). Forest fans going wild as they were going above Newcastle to go top of the league that night. In the end they bottled it, again, whilst Newcastle won the league comfortably. That'll teach them for walloping us.

Not long after that, and a horrible 1-0 home defeat to Scunthorpe, St Neil arrived and the beautiful turnaround began.

3. QPR 0 Cardiff 4 - November 2002(ish?)

Another evening where Robert Earnshaw scored loads of goals against us, as alluded to in this thread it wasn't long after the Vauxhall Motors mess. We actually competed quite well for the first half I remember, before they took the lead then just took us apart after that. A really low evening because it really began to feel like we'd never win again and would just freefall our way downwards. What a wonderful turnaround it did lead to though!

So at least 2 out of those 3 have a positive after story of sorts!

Home to Wimbledon, 0-0 after 93 minutes of utter garbage and dis-interest from two teams who just wanted to get the fck out of there, ref looks at his watch the Wimbledon keeper boots the ball hell for leather up the pitch, Robbie bloody Earle is the only player remotely half awake and nips in and scores.
Bolox.

I was at the 0-0 fakes game at the Madstad, I still haven't got over that game and why oh bastard why do they insist on keep televising these games?

that 4-0 up at Hull a couple years back, one of the last 5 or so games under Holloway, was utterly miserable from start to finish. Completely whipped by another rubbish team. The only vaguely amusing thing that happened was Ned bodychecking one of theirs and getting sent off last minute after a bad Scowen tackle

Choosing one is an IMPOSSIBLE task... far, far, far too many.

For me it was away to PNE we lost five nil.... every goal they scored was met with a rendition of "time to go, time to go" from the home fans.
Gerry Francis Part II came to an end that day I think and there were a couple of rucks in the away end.

However - breaking down on the M1 in descending fog at Hemel Hempstead about 500 yards from the junction and finding out it was a dodgy fuel gauge was the final slap in the moosh. One of our travelling party needed to get to a wedding reception that night as well.

There was another away game up at Peterborough that sticks in the mind as we had Priskin and Marcus Bent up front. Inept don't come close.

All the others people have mentioned I think I was at. Lunacy!

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal
