World Cupski 2018 Thread 18:04 - May 20 with 101535 viewsLblock

I’ve been pretty non plussed about the Copa Mundial this year which is unusual as I’ve always loved it. Perhaps FIFA have contributed to my overall “fcuk it” view to the modern game, I’ve never felt so remote from a tournament Inger-Lund have been in.
Part of me hopes it lives up to the scam it is with Russia being awarded 317 penalties in the group stages, empty stadiums with Escape To Victory dubbed crowd cheering noises all capped off with a plucky squad of kids winning it so rhino nose becomes Sir Gareth

Current questions for those buzzing about it or who simply know:-

1. Any good Apps for iPhone anyone come across? (Preferably free)

2. Can anyone recommend a Fantasy Competition for the tournament? I’ve been asked to run one at work; think the Sun used to do a simple one; no idea if they are as I haven’t bought a newspaper this decade.

3. Any players people recommend sticking in above / hidden jems????

4. What fixtures do we think are ones to make an effort to watch out of the current group stages? May have to organise work schedule and ensure a regular spot in The Leicester Arms on Warwick Street for any midweek afternoon games

5. What nation picks up the Jules Rimet this year for you? I’m thinking probably Germany but the last time they tried to conquer all the Russia issue didn’t work out well for them

He's as gay as a man can be, but what a player. Amazing.

Shouldn’t that ‘but’ be an ‘and’?

He made the most of it but wasn't a dive, Nacho caught him.

Ronaldo is a hell of a player though, one of the best ever. That hat trick last night was unreal. He's got 51 hat tricks in his career, thats just ridiculous. If I was that good I'd be looking at myself on the tv screen as well.

Good luck to the convicts today

I’m hoping to come on here later and eat my words about Mass as I do give him a hard time.
Really looking forward to a feast of footy today
Trying to work out when to crack the first glass of cold Rose though... second half of first game seems favourite

This spannish ticky tocky shight can be pretty devastating and they should be able to outplay most teams they come across.

So what do you need to beat them besides have a Ronaldo?

High hard continual press & when you get the ball direct attack with pace and dont give the ball away not too much to ask is it?

captains fantastic

If that don't spark suspicion about match fixing, I don't know what does. No other explanation for giving away a penalty straight after France took the lead. WTF?

By the end of this tournament Spain/Portugal will be a distant memory, VAR will have fckd the whole World Cup up by then.

Phil Neville says he doesn’t like VAR and BBC transmission immediately goes down.

As Boney M once said ‘Oooh, those Russians’

Phil Neville is dangerously thick.

Ignoring VAR, would Luongo have been better than Jedinak? Jedinak was too slow on a number of occasions and appeared to me not fit. He only played half a game prior. France was the better team and so Australia needs to win against Denmark and Peru. Good luck.

And the Irish won in Brisbane to square the series.

Come on Iceland , Finnbogason has always been one of my favorite FIFA players ( as in the computer game).
