But the US start a war and can still host the WC....

But they didn't intend to start a war...
The arrogant orange man-baby thought that he could impose his will on another country and they would simply kowtow to his demands.
(A country of 90 million people, with thousands of years of history).

However, I think they are now trying to start multiple race wars.

Jed Spence the pick of the players first half. We are going to have to do some training with that ball in these conditions. Flies all over the place. Pitch not helping but the ball absolutely flies. Rashford was fine and Kane gets his goal. Again if we are going to get anywhere we really have to look to where Kane is at any time.

Some things in there Bosh that I would offer an alternative opinion on.

Spence is very quick but if he has to constantly come in on his right foot, he is very predictable.

Kane is fine. Let him do what he thinks is best for the team. 'He gets us up the pitch'
Have someone in the team with pace like Rashford or Watkins to stretch the defence while Kane times his runs. Harry will probably be further forward more often when Bellingham starts.

I think Rashford is looking really good. Having him playing at a good level and then Anderson in the side, means we should be at a better level. Especially when you combine with Kane, Bellingham, Saka and Rice who are world class players in my view. We then have the Villa due from the bench to come on and Toney who provides something a bit different to Watkins. So, I’m reasonably positive about this side but the big issue is the defence. I don’t think these defenders are going to keep many clean sheets. No dominant centre half and full backs better at going forward.

England have the firepower to beat pretty much most teams in the World right now with any combination of those players which will put high stress on teams.
That means England will dominate the posession restricting teams to counter attacks ,corners, frees etc at least until the Quarter Final when it will be way more evenly matched if the top 8 come through.
Even with the heat and pressure England should stroll into the Semi Final then anybody can beat anybody .
Enjoy it I will be watching eagerly for any QPR on tour flags.
I will be wearing my Guinness jersey to the Japan V Sweeden not expecting many YouRsssss shouts unless I meet Saito in the tailgate area

My Concern with England is for all the talk of these attacking players I don't think we create many chances, we always have a goal threat with Saka or Rashford cutting inside and scoring or kane or Bellingham but we don't create a great deal from open play and can look a bit predictable.

Really looking forward to it though, I am desperate to see England win a tournament

New Zealand got in behind us a few times and it was only the lack of players in forward positions that saved us from further problems.

I hope they rest Harry for the Costa Rica game. Argentina didn't play Messi in their friendly.

Paul Smyth played for Northern Ireland.

The easy England picks - Pickford, Guehi, Rice, Bellingham, Kane
Probables - James, Saka, Quansah

Add in any 3 from 16, not keepers.
Is that a WC winning team. Not for me.

I think Anderson, James, Saka all start proably O'Reilly as well although hes not been tested too much as a left back.

It will then be rotating Bellingham/Morgan and Gordon/Rashford.

I wouldn't have given the 2018 squad a hope of winning it and they got to the semis so you never know,

Anderson is a definite. He’s been class for England.

You don’t think Saka is world class? Kane, Bellingham, Rice are world class too. Midfield and forwards are top class. Defence less so.

I’d say Kane is our only world class player, maybe Rice too. Most of the others are top class, but not anywhere near his level. He is a magnificent player and he has to stay fit if we are to have a chance.

Totally agree

However, I’d also guess the back five are nowhere near international top class
Pickford is scatty as my wife and has always lacked physical presence
Both full back positions are a concern but I do like Reilly
Konsa I don’t rate, Burn is a monster in the air but everything else about him is mid table; Stones has the look of a QPR player - the physios will love/hate him - Guehi the only decent defender I’d say.

Midfield is top class with Rice makes be pushing World level.
Kane is simply amazing and a true World Class player

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

If we fail to get out of the group for THIS world cup the entire lot should never play for England again. The way FIFA have done this is an absolute joke, 72 group games. And after those 72 group games we'll have the same number of teams left as started the 2022 world cup.

Erling Haaland was born in Leeds. Can he not see the error of his ways and join the English revolution.

Kane and Haaland up top - almost guarantees World Cup glory !!!

Although given Tuchel's selections based on team set up, Haaland would not make the squad !!!

There is always that risk, and the last time we played a WC in the Americas in 2014 we came bottom of the group. That was an incredibly hard group with Italy and Uruguay, I'm still not sure how that happened.

Quarter finals at best I reckon. Most likely a South American or South European team will win it.

The cynic in me says they'll fix it for Portugal to win it for Ronaldo.

Took a look at the draw and have England needing to beat both Argentina and Brazil to reach a final against France or Spain. Ouch.

could end up being Morocco or Portugal which seems slightly less scary.

Portugal in the semis would be huge. On the one hand would be brilliant to get some pay back, but on the other I'm not sure my PTSD could cope with Ronaldo getting one over England again

Just so it’s clear in my head…

We’ve had recent World Cups in Putin’s Russia and a Middle Eastern Oil Plutocracy but it’s the country that calls itself the leader of the free world that is shooting at training grounds and banning countries, referees, and journalists?

Journalists were banned from this country too recently.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

100%

But we hadn’t agreed to let them in beforehand on the premise that we get to host a profitable and prestigious World Cup!

This is the least hype I've ever seen around an England team at a tournament.

England have been disappointing for so long, always great individual players but a sh*t team, wild expectations and a toxic media to boot. Southgate era was the first time I've felt good about England since Euro 96. It's going to be really tough for Tuchel to bring back those vibes. I still think it's a really strange appointment, but good luck to him!
