Saints are hitting a decent bit of form at the right time, but we've been conistantly solid away for a few games now. Ronnie will be up for this!

It's got a 1-1 all over for me - which will be a very respectable result if we can go on and nick a win v The Blades on Saturday. Would delighted with a 7 pointer this week...

The gap between the haves and have nots in this division is clear to see and shown tonight. Didn't expect us to do much at Southampton, but we should expect better. Southampton are better financed and probably will be in the play offs, we just need to try and get some traction and at least turn up at home to Sheff Utd on Saturday.

I still can't believe Hull are in the top six. It can be done...but we have neither the will or intelligence on and off the pitch to do it. And for the record... I expected to lose tonight. It was always going to be one game too many. But surely we have to offer more than that.

I thought we had seen the last of these types of score line. I watched until the halftime, because I could see it coming. I know we have injuries, now even worse with Madsen's hamstring gone, but its no excuse to do the basics. Run, chase and work hard.

It is odd that a team that did so well at the weekend were so so off it tonight. I feel for the 1700+ that went tonight. They deserved more. It's QPR though so it'll dog's abuse on here for the rest of the week and then we'll beat Sheffield Utd at the weekend. It's what we do.

Terrible. Would not pin this entirely on Walsh though he was poor but on the defence defence defence.
Dunne is over and done with. Dont want to see him here next season. He is crxp.

I'm not sure it's about standards in terms of work rate. I think it's more that we're carrying too many players who are not Championship standard. Of the 11 on the pitch at the end how many will still be playing at this level it higher in 2 or 3 years time. Walsh, Esquardina, Adamson, Bennie, most likely Morgan I highly doubt.
The jury's out on Saito, Kone and Kolli.
The only ones you'd say yes to are Dunne, Edwards and Mbengue (he has the physique just needs a bit more coaching.)
We can't expect to win many games carrying so much dead wood. I'm sure they're all desperate to prove they're good enough but I don't think they will.

Interesting that Edwards has not been mentioned at all - not a happy return for him

He was as poor as anyone. We do have a lot of form both recent and historically, of loan players looking as shite as everyone else once we get them on a permanent deal. Think he has talent and should hopefully improve. Saito, and a few others have neither, going by what I witnessed tonight, and in other games this season

If Varane had come on for Madsen things might have been different, might.

Sure the injuries make a difference but it’s still 11 v 11 and our 11 were pretty clueless tonight lacking organisation, passion and fight.

That was shockingly bad. The goals we let in were appalling and that is the players responsibility. They didn't play for the badge and looked guuless and afraid of Southampton as if we were not fit to be on the same pitch. Charlton got a point there on Saturday. Another hammering like Coventry and Ipswich. Is that 6 defeats to the Saints in the last six meetings?

At what point will someone get to grips with this propensity to concede either side of half time? One Saints player free in the 6 yard area to head in a corner while our dummies stand there effectively ending the contest in the first half. Five down after 70 minutes and fortunate Southampton eased up or it could have been worse than Coventry. We just seem to give up and throw in the towel which suggests this season will now fizzle out without Madsen to hold it together.

just back. Utter garbage. I couldn't tell what system we were supposed to be playing. Southampton didn't look all that in the first half but conceding the 2nd right on half time changed the mentality for both teams. We looked defeated as soon as we came out for the 2nd half.

Says so much about this coach he left Mbengue on at 4-0 one more booking and he misses next two games fortnightly we got away with it
Thank goodness we are safe from relegation under his input we would be in big trouble
We are a team at times with no energy clearly lacking in the required fitness to compete on a regular basis at this level
There are serious issues behind the scenes before a ball is being kicked a complete lack of leadership and appreciation
Something has to change before next season or we could be in for a nightmare

I'm generally not one to look for scapegoats but having just watched it back on the Sky highlights, Walsh has to do better for their 2nd and 4th goals. The 5th was a decent strike - first time seeing that as I was already back at the car by that point.

On the plus side, at least I was home nice and early, so that's a bonus

I don’t think that Southampton won 5-0 because they had better players than us tonight.They won 5-0 because we had players who didn’t try enough.

Thought we were OK until Madsen went down - their first a good bit of play with #10 finishing well after dropping between the lines to receive. Perhaps Hayden should have closed or maybe the back line too deep?

The second and third, and maybe even the fourth, as an ex-GK, I can lay 100% on Walsh. I played at a fairly low level years ago, and if I'd failed to get to the corner first while NOT BEING IMPEDED IN THE LEAST I'd have correctly been dropped immediately and maybe permanently. The third HAS to be controlled or pushed to safety - it was straightforward and he got two good hands to it. The fourth he has to have a stronger hand - plenty of time and distance to get a good strong hand on it.

This is a professional and its nowhere near good enough.

Once the third and fourth go in, Madsen gone and us pushing a bit, the rest is immaterial in my view.

More than anything else, we need a Head of Basics coach.

As a club, we seem to think they are beneath us and that there is a clever way to ignore them and somehow still prosper

I watched most of tonight, and a fair bit of the Sheff derby on Sunday. We didn't look any better than Weds in all honesty. Fully fit, we have a relatively competitive team for this league, without them...we look L2. Worrying.
