Yes the best one is Bayern Munich where it’s both and neither but would I be comfortable saying either Bavaria Munich of Bayern Muncheon?

I think this deserves a thread of its own and don’t get me started on Belgium.

I'm liking the statement that QPR are looking for a new No 1, whether our not this guy is the one.

Our last Czech keeper wasn't bad

Cerny wasn't exactly great either* - not an obvious improvement on Camp and definitely worse than Kenny

*unless you were thinking of Miklosko or even Stejskal in which case those are different arguments

Was Miklosko good or was I just an age where all our players were heroes even if we lost most weeks? Chris Kiwomya was basically Pele in my eyes circa 2000.

My brother genuinely rates Lee Harper as one of our best ever keepers (I assume based solely on how busy he was kept), so I'd lean towards the latter.

I also don't want to have to reassess my own opinion of Chris Day for that matter.

Here’s a rumour for you all

Worryingly, he looks like he’s just picked that ball out of the net….

Sign him up. It’s only 1 and 1 is none.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Looks like he can pick a pass.... But

Ivan Nevistić is a solid keeper, but not one I’d call elite or especially dominant. He’s the type who can look very reliable in lower-tempo matches and then a bit shaky when the box gets chaotic.

The good:

Very good size for a goalkeeper (around 1.95m depending on source listings), so physically he should be strong aerially.

Reflexes and shot-stopping are probably his best traits. He had some standout Europa League performances with Rijeka where he faced loads of shots and kept games respectable.

Generally calm with straightforward catches and doesn’t panic easily.

Decent positioning on routine crosses.

Now specifically on crosses and aerial ability — which is what you asked about:

I’d say he’s competent rather than commanding.

He is not one of those keepers who completely owns the six-yard box like prime Courtois, Donnarumma, Oblak etc. Despite the height, he doesn’t consistently play with that aggressive “this is my area” mentality.

My honest assessment:

High balls: Usually okay when he can see the flight early.

Crowded corners: Less convincing.

Claiming crosses: Average.

Punching: Safer than catching under pressure.

Decision-making coming off the line: Can hesitate.

Physical presence: More passive than dominant.

That matters because aerial dominance for keepers is not just height — it’s timing, aggression, footwork, and confidence attacking the ball. Modern analysis of goalkeepers often separates “good shot stoppers” from “commanders of the box,” and Nevistić fits more into the first category.

If you watch him over several matches, you’ll notice:

He prefers reacting to the second phase rather than aggressively killing the attack early.

Against teams that spam crosses, he can look vulnerable if defenders don’t protect him well.

He doesn’t always attack floated crosses at the highest point.

So overall:

In the air: around average to slightly above average because of size.

At dealing with crosses: decent, but not a standout strength.

Best qualities: reflex saves, reach, composure.

Weaknesses: authority in traffic, aggressive aerial command.

He’s definitely a capable top-flight keeper, but I don’t think he projects as a top Champions League-level goalkeeper unless his command of the box improves a lot.

Poll: Are we staying up?

Thanks for that assessment, GloucsR. He seems an upgrade on Walsh and given our budget, or lack of it, I wouldn't expect much more. He's got 2 more years on his contract with Dinamo Zagreb so will cost us something. Transfermarkt rates him at €500k. He looks like he's second choice at Zagreb so, if we are serious, he might want to come to be our no 1.

EDIT: just seen this clickbait site is claiming - QPR reach agreement for signing – Officials travelling next week to finalise deal https://sportwitness.co.uk/qpr Pinch of salt etc.

Great assessment. How good does he have to be to be: a) an upgrade on Walsh and b) a decent Championship keeper?

The raw stats from last season indicate that if Walsh just batted his expected average, we'd have conceded 8 fewer goals. This, in turn, could have had a significant points improvement. If this guy is better all round, he's worth a look at the price quoted but there is no point in rushing to a decision at this stage.

Still to this day I cannot get it out of my head that Ludek McClusko was not a Scottish goalie.

I like when he is under pressure from a back pass he calmly takes out a 60 degree wedge and chips it over the attackers and lands it on his teammate on the right side of the touchline

The one where he let it travel across his line before clearing it was impressive but heart stopping 🤣

This keeper looks like he can save shots across him, which Walsh was weak at, so that is good.

What I noticed from the video is this: his defenders kept running back even after the opponent had shot, which suggests they believe he will save it and that they need to be there to help out on any rebounds. That's a good sign as they trust him.

Looks like he could be a good addition.

Can he score from corners, though?

Can we make a rule? If you have to post slop at least disclose you’re doing so at the start.

Then I’ll know that if you couldn’t be bothered to write it I don’t have to bother to read it.

AI will be making up the clickbait rumours themselves soon and be better at it than the current "journalists" fabricating reports.

Its when we have AI staff, coaches and players when we truly need to start worrying.
