That's politicians for you: some of the most selfish, dishonest, corrupt, evil people in the world. Remember, Hitler and Stalin were politicians. Pity we can't get rid of all of them.

In a country this size, we should allow no more than 200 people to become MPs. At least that would reduce the amount of money we have to spend on them. Most days, fewer than that number bother to turn up for work anyway.

of course the Tories have not abused the system in any way

Sexual misconduct allegations Andrew Griffiths

On 14 July 2018, the Sunday Mirror reported that Griffiths had sent up to 2,000 sexually explicit texts in a three week period to two of his female constituents. In response to this, he resigned from his ministerial position and he was suspended by the Conservative Party.[22][9][23] He had previously been investigated for allegations of inappropriate touching and bullying of a Conservative borough councillor and the bullying of the leader of another council.[24][25]

In November 2018, during an interview with The Sunday Times, Griffiths reported that he planned to kill himself after the sexual misconduct allegations came to light. During the same interview, Griffiths claimed that the texts that he had sent to the women
were "the result of my mental breakdown" following a "battle with my own mental health". He disclosed that he had a long history of mental health problems resulting from being allegedly abused at the age of eight by a 15 year old boy.[26][27] On 12 December 2018, Griffiths had the Conservative whip restored, ending his suspension from the party.[28][29] His reinstation was widely criticised for being announced hours
before a confidence vote in Conservative leader Theresa May, making Griffiths eligible to participate.[28][30]

Sounds familiar

On 8 September 2019, Griffiths was cleared of breaching the House of Commons' code of conduct by the parliamentary standards watchdog as it could not find any evidence that he sent messages while carrying out parliamentary activities.[31]

And then theres Jeremy Hunt

In April 2018, The Daily Telegraph revealed that Hunt breached anti-money laundering legislation by failing to declare his 50 per cent interest in a property firm to Companies House within the required 28 days. Hunt also failed to disclose his interest in the property firm on the Parliamentary Register of Members’ interests within the required 28 days.[190] Hunt later rectified the error. A spokesman for Hunt said that Hunt's "accountant made an error in the Companies House filing, which was a genuine oversight." In response, a spokesman for Downing Street agreed with the Cabinet Office that there was no breach of the ministerial code. The Labour Party referred Hunt to the parliamentary commissioner for standards.[191] The Guardian revealed that Hunt was able to buy seven luxury flats at Alexandra Wharf, Southampton, with the help of a bulk discount from property developer and Conservative donor Nicholas James Roach.[192]

Errr. This was the point I was trying to make. There are loads of lefty loons on here who truly believe their party are whiter than white and only the rest get up to this stuff. Truth is they are all the bloody same, but will a left admit that? Will he feck.

cut to 200 and do vote on proportional representation so that all votes count

At moment votes in majority of seats in this country a waste of time as same party gets same in year after year, the only ones that decide result of an election are the margainal seats

Hugh Gaffney MP has got a number of working class lads and lasses jobs and given them opportunities they would never have got, I also have friends who got computer said no-ed by job centres in the 90s who were helped by labour mps to get on courses and into decent work that they wanted

I think the tories on here are getting desperate after Boris's sad little bots have been revealed and he got booed out of a childrens hospital yesterday.

Labour do have a few decent and dare I say it ‘normal’ members of Parliament. However these are greatly outweighed by career politicians who do not represent their constituents in any way shape or form. In the midlands and the north Labour have betrayed and abandoned working class leave voters. Hardly surprising as people like Corbyn wouldn’t know a working class man if they tripped over one on the way to a middle class hobby leftist momentum rally.
